I Added Animals Into My Giant Rainforest Vivarium

I created my dream tank, a 1000 gallon cloud rainforest vivarium, and constructing it has been quite a journey. It is fully stocked with tropical plants, automated climate control, and even some creatures that managed to sneak in through the terrarium decor. However, the goal of the vivarium experiment was to recreate and study a rainforest ecosystem so to complete the project, I needed to add more animals. Little did I know, doing so would amp up the biological action within the vivarium in a way that I could never have predicted. Hope you enjoy Part 6 of my ecosystem vivarium series. Ant love forever! This video was shot in 4K Ultra HD resolution.

As someone who has worked at PetSmart working with crickets for over 2 years. I can say, without a shadow of a doubt, that crickets, through some sort of unholy dark magic, no matter how small or avoidable it is, will always find a way to drown themselves in a body of water and die. So I don't think you need to worry to much about the other insects drowning, this is just what crickets do lol.

So interesting, initially I thought that releasing that many things so fast would be too much. But seeing how fast everything got processed and re-used by the other parts of the ecosystem made me realize just how common predator/prey deaths were on a day by day basis.

That sounds like an incredible journey into creating a miniature ecosystem! Adding animals to a giant rainforest vivarium must bring such a dynamic and lively aspect to it. It's fascinating how each creature plays a role in maintaining the balance of this mini rainforest. The idea of replicating nature's complexity on a smaller scale is truly a remarkable endeavor. I can imagine the vivid colors and diverse behaviors of the animals adding so much vibrancy to the vivarium. It's a beautiful way to connect with nature and appreciate the intricacies of different habitats. Keep exploring and enjoying the wonders of the natural world! 🌿🐸🦋

This is the kind of content kids should watch to really learn about nature. You would absolutely be held in the same regards as shows like blues clues, wild kratz, the electric company, ect

For the water, you want scuds. They're native to every corner of the world, and are relentless scavengers that will pick apart ANY source of protein they have access to. All your other options like fish or amano shrimp will be too large to produce new generations in that pond like you want for this ecosystem. They play nice with daphnia magna (filter feders), and freshwater isopods (substrate feeders).

I wouldn't put House Geckos with ants, because they're prey to the ants; its true ants can't catch geckos, but there's nowhere that gecko can hide that the ants can't reach. The ants can just bite the gecko continously and wear the health of the gecko down till it expires. :(

Sad about the poor Gecko :( I think it very likely that she could have been overwhelmed by how many ants you have in there. Lots of repeated bites and venom could have easily taken her down if they caught her in her sleep or something. Doesn't seem like there would have been many spots safe from the ants in that enclosure.

That vivarium was essentially a torture chamber for that poor gecko. Outnumbered by thousands of ants in a space that's still a small enclosure when you consider that they occupy a range of probably a couple kilometers in the wild. Nature is brutal but when we manipulate it according to our human whims it becomes a bit uncanny and sadistic.

I RARELY leave comments, but I couldn’t resist this time. You have created an amazing and beautiful ecosystem for your animals. It shows that you really care for them. Not like these people who have a hundred different snakes in empty plastic totes slid into drawers like a collection of socks; only to be pulled out when the latest morph is to be photographed then slid back into its empty plastic drawer. You have created something really special.

This is a prime example of a channel that’s earned my subscription. I’ve previously watched videos of your ant colony habitats. Found it intriguing, captivating, and astonished by how well done your editing and storytelling was executed. How ever I watched all of three or so of the individual colonies plot lines and felt I got everything I could out of the content and If I subbed I’d only get stuff on my feeds popping up that I wouldn’t be as enticed to click on. I randomly saw a post of your new ‘tank’, thought how cinematically beautiful it looked and how I’d love to have that in my house (though terrified creatures would escape). And I was proven wrong, I’m subbed now and in for the the long haul, anticipating each weeks new video. Congratulations, wonderful captivating content and educational as well. Truly earned my sub!! Edit; Btw: I see you’ve already gone through some of the comments. Since the video is still so new I hope you check back in for a second time and get to read my post, tho long, I hope you read of my praise of what you do because it’s well deserved.
