Ah! amazing, i'm an SRC mod for a couple sonic games, and i've often had the thought of making categories for RA2, but i just didn't think at the time it'd actually be a fun idea due to the amount of variance, but i can see this working out with a strict ruleset!

I'm part of a collective of "speedrunners" (most of which aren't speedrunners but we race eachother in video games) called Square 2 Charge, and we have a regular one-off race series called Super Charge, and I'd absolutely love to do a race in this game with you at some point if you're interested!

I'm expecting spinners being optimized for the fastest match due to the static mechanic to pass the countout, and flippers to be the meta for the full game for quick tireless matches and the ease of the oota or pits. I'm surprised this isn't even a category yet. This will be great for both builders, fans of RA2, or someone who wants a record to an obscure game. There could even be a irl category to design a build a combat robot. I can't wait for this category to be explored in the future. (Edit) If there is a IRL category it would finish when you make a successful failsafe.

For the catagories, in my opinion it should be in different weight classes for each record, (lw, mw, hw) because the fastest win catagory is much easier in lightweight and maybe heavyweight than in middleweight.

Hmmmm, for the Fastest Match, is the Sumo mode allowed? If yes, that’s 100% meta, just make a big fast af plow
