super normal to be overwhelmed or even remorseful after getting a new guy!! it throws off your routine and changes ur whole world. when the kitties were babies i would cry at night bc they wouldn’t let me sleep from how bad they had the zoomies :’) and i got puppy blues pretty bad with oli- that shit is on another level lol. but persimmon seems to be doing great and im glad you’re feeling better now :)

Your new cat is ADORABLE! As someone who has two cats I DEFINETLY HIGHLY recommend Dr. Elsey’s Premium Clumping Cat Litter. I struggled with finding a good clumping litter, but right when I found this brand, I NEVER have gone back. Many other cat owners have also told me they use it for their cat's with asthma as when their cat is pushing it around, it won't cause dust to blow up. I use the brand in my litter robot, but before I had the litter robot I used it in their normal litter box and it got EVERYTHING clumped, no loose pieces or anything.

i felt the same way when i got my second dog (idk why not for my first dog LOL), but it went away very quickly. i think i was just so overwhelmed with having two and it meant it was just twice more work that clicked when she came home. but now i wouldn't change it for the world they are my babies

Stainless steel tray: I have owned the same tray since I got my cat in 2018. They don’t absorb the smell and stain like plastic, so you don’t have to replace constantly - much better for the environment. Long term I guess you also save money. I just empty and wash with soap once a week. It’s really easy to do because of the surface - no scrubbing

My sister and I really love Tuft + Paw's Really Great Cat Litter! No dust and it smells good.

I highly recommend pine pellets!! Not the ones specifically marketed towards cats, because those bags can be upwards of $20+ and you can find bigger bags for around $6 at a farm supply store (like tractor supply). Almost no dust and does a great job at hiding the smells.. also is super easy cleanup as it just basically breaks down into sawdust that you can just dump out/compost it after.. not to mention it’s more eco friendly than traditional clay litters! My only suggestion with this type of litter is getting a litter box that has a sifting compartment so the solids stay on top and the dust goes to the bottom. TLDR: pine litter from a farm supply store is a life changer 😅

oh! for cat litter, don't use pretty litter! its not gentle on their paws and if they swallow any it could harm her. i personally stray away from any scented, clay, and dusty litters. I just do my best to find the most dust free litter and honestly you can find it for pretty affordable prices. baking soda will also help with the smell in litter boxes, so any litter with baking soda in it is a good one! the only reason i stray away from clay is because it cakes up and makes it difficult to scoop, but it tends to be pretty dust free depending on what you find.

Totally understand the feeling nerves when adopting a pet. I had fears about not being a pet mom or if they would even like me. But all of our pets (3 cats and 1 dog) have been the best decisions I've ever made. They have helped my mental health so much and helped me through the isolation of living alone through lockdown

I love my kitty so much, we just get closer and closer over the years somehow. I can’t imagine living without a kitty and I don’t know how anyone else does! U definitely made the right choice :)

Cat litter: I get wooden pellets because 1) better for the environment that the weird white chemically clay stuff, 2) I find because they are bigger they are easier to clean up/ less dust around the tray. They slowly absorb moisture and crumble to sawdust over time.

I use Pretty Litter. No dust. It also tells you how their health is. It does not smell. You can't tell you have a cat. I have it delivered once a month.

I’m in love with Almo Nature litter. It’s really soft for her feet, and not dusty. At least not as dusty as other brands I’ve tried. It’s biodegradable, and I personally think it’s one of the best to keep smells at bay.

My Ragdoll boys name is Basil! We use crushed walnut shell litter and it really helps with the smell and is waaay less dusty than the clay stuff. The brand is Naturally Fresh. Congratulations on your fur baby!!

I highly recommend « Nature’s Calling » litter. It’s made from walnut shells, it’s non toxic, when the cat uses it it forms little clumps that you can remove and throw directly in the toilet. It doesn’t smell. 10/10 👌 used it for years.

i use pidan tofu cat litter &my cats love it. its no dust, absorbs the smell of the waste, and the clumping works great so its easy to clean&is flushable. plus its made out of soy so it is an eco friendly option💛

wahhh congrats congrats🥺 persimmon looks so so adorable and i’m excited to see more cameos/art of her! for litter recs, i’ve just started using arm & hammer’s hardball clumping litter! it’s the one litter that’s been low dust (a win for my sensitive cat), amazing odor control (especially with having an uncovered litter box in a bedroom), clumps super well, and is reasonably accessible for me to find in store to purchase!

Congratulations on the new cat! ❤ As for litter, Arm and Hammer dust free is the best, but I had to stop using it when it turned out one of my cats was allergic to baking soda. So the second best I've used is Worlds Best. All natural, and it keeps smells pretty under control. It is also easy to scoop, unlike Swheat Scoop which is another all natural brand, but turns to a rock hard concrete when wet.

I have two cats as well and I got them two litter box just so things don’t get condensed into a one litter box. You can for example keep one upstairs and one downstairs. As for the type of litter yes you should get one that doesn’t give off dust as this will cause allergies for your cats. Unfortunately you have to try different brands to see what wins better with you. I get the kit-kat large molecule dust with lemon scented as the large ones don’t get stuck between their two beans.

Persimmon is gorgeous! I'll say paper and wood base litter are the best. They don't clump, produce dust, and keep the smell under control, also more natural and better for cats.

You can try tofu cat litter (looks like pellets) which is dust free!

HIGHLYYY recommend Catalyst cat litter!!!! my senior cat kept getting an eye infection from clay litter😢 i wish i would’ve switched to catalyst sooner tbh. just had to get a wide slot poop scooper but i like that better too!!! so cutteeeee congratulations!!!

ahhh hello little persimmon 🥰i also have a calico kitty and they are truly beautiful and one of a kind. for cat litter, i like to use World's Best - not very dusty and clumps well for me! my cat also sheds a lot and i found that the Furminator shed tools/brushes were super helpful to get at the undercoat. i highly recommend!

Having a cat really does force you to have a routine but in the best way possible. Also I love that your hair matches her!!! As for litter, I use world's best cat litter because dust free since it's made from corn. Also no one talks about brushing their cats teeth but I've gotten into the habit of doing it because my boy got gingivitis and it's good to avoid having to put them under for frequent dental cleanings.

So cute! I love calico cats! We use Feline Pine. It is like a wood pellet. We've been using it for years. I didn't like the other litters because of the dust.

I did the same things lol! I went to the shelter just to look and ended up coming home with a dog! (I had been planning to get a dog, so I was prepared, but I was planning to go a few times before adopting) But it was literally the best thing I've done this year. I got him on the 10th of april.

My cat is 18 years old and I have tried *many* different litters and litter trays over the years and currently I'm using World's Best Cat Litter and it is definitely the best I've ever used. I use the unscented one and there is just no smell, it's great. It is dusty when I am first adding it to the litter tray but I don't mind since it's so good with everything else. Another tip I have is I use a litter liner (acutally just a garbage bag because my litter tray is an odd shape), then put a puppy pee pad in that, then the litter on top. I have found the pee pad stops the liner getting holes and makes changing the litter so much cleaner and quicker. Anyway sorry for the essay and congrats on your new cat!

My cat, Jimmy, has like 5 nicknames. 😂 ~ Arm & Hammer Slide litter works really well. Low dust and scoopable. I’m not sure how it’d be in a stainless steel box though. We have a plastic box.

For litter i use Cats Best, the red one. Its organic and helps so much with odor.

I put a hummingbird feeder outside my cats favorite window. Its like kitty cat tv. Arm&Hammer Cloud control cat litter is the BESt. There is zero dust its only very slightly scented (my cat wont use scented litter but she has no prob with this one), it clumps urine super good, it seems to not track as bad as my old one and its like baby soft sand. I couldn't believe how soft it felt. Cats love it and I love it cause the litter I had before the dust was sooo bad.

OMG absolutely love your cat. As for litter I would recommend Pretty Litter as it changes colors and you can see the internal health state of your cat. Kidney disease is something you would want to catch early and prevent a lot of heartache 😢. Unfortunately I'm speaking from experience. Also I would say walnut litter is better than clay. Cats are awesome ❤

I use FelinePine pine wood sawdust pellets. Greatly reduced smell (if it ever smells it smells like pine, what a surprise) and turns to sawdust when wet. I use a two-pan filter litter box for it (it's like panning for gold but the gold is kitty dookie) and it works really well. My Tippy likes it a whole lot better because it doesn't track as much, doesn't stick to her paws, and it's a natural smell so I think she's more comfortable? Definitely no clay dust or chemical smell.

So cute! I love calicos! They're every color of the cat rainbow 😻 I have one as well with a bob tail and a rather feisty attitude. For litter recommendations, I'm slowly transitioning my cats to snow pea litter. :) so far so good. If not snow pea, you may also try and look at tofu litters :) I am so happy for youuuu
