i adopted a cat | shy & fearful cat, first time cat mommy, stressed yet happy 

im really late but i can just tell you guys are great together. you're very soft spoken and cats tend to lean towards a person gentle and soft spoken! the way you spoke to meeko towards the end was beautiful. it was so lovely to see you guys bond :)

Welcome to the club, I have adopted a lovely second cat who had been very badly treated. he is afraid of humans. According to his foster history, he spent about 1.5 years in differents foster homes. And he was in the 6th foster home when I adopted him. The first two months were the hardest. Unless our resident cat was next to me and my husband, he never wanted to leave the under sofabed. So he would only eat when everyone was asleep, in the middle of the night. I bought a petcam to monitor his progress and also contacted the association to extend our prohibition period in case there was a problem with the post-adoption adaptation period, as well as a cat behaviorist. In the meantime, I tried to talk a lot with him 3 times a day with a fixed time about anything. When I told him about my struggle as HSP, he started to take an interest in me. One day, in the 3rd month, he started to get out of his cage and explore the whole house without fail. And in the 6th month, my husband and I can finally touch and pet him. However, we still need to gain his trust before I can put him in the carrier bag for the vet's visit.

When I was a kid my family adopted 2 strays cats. One in mid July 1979 and the other cat in mid November 1981. The 2nd cat was my fault in giving him the loved and the attention. He turned out to be a big sweetie. Both cats were sweet and friendly.

Give him time he will reward you the shelter was not the best place but he will come round patience and love are the key he is a handsome guy I have 2 tabbies twins a boy and girl from kittens they are two years old and now they are so good together maybe in the future find him a friend?
