hey! i just seen this video and im so i happy i found you i see you love ferrets just as me !!! my ferret need a home currently! im moving to another place who doesn’t allow animals and i don’t want to send him to just anyone please respond when you can ! ❤️❤️
@@breezybree2185 She just got a ferret so she probably won't want another anytime soon but if u want your ferret to be in good hands there's many many shelters will except your ferret but it really depends also consider asking a family member so u can visit him or her often but sometimes no one will take ur ferret in shelters and rehoming is your best hope.
I'm so glad you went the rescue route instead of pet store "merchandise." He's adorable - reminds me of my Zoomer (RIP), he was same coloring, very bouncy and constantly play hissing and dooking.
We had to buy one 😢. Adoption was not available anywhere. But all I remind myself is that we still got to give this little girl a life❤ she's our first ferret
Fun facts (depending on your definition of fun): In the US, pet ferrets and research ferrets come from the same place: Marshall Farms. They're indisputably awful with a horrible history of inbreeding and early spay/neutering that has led to US ferrets having shortened lifespans. Ferrets are essential for the development of COVID-19 vaccines and treatments! Along with more routine influenza and other biomedical research, of course. So the sort-of-good news is that all those ferrets went towards saving many many lives over the last year.
This! i just commented about how the pet store I worked at sold soooo many ferrets last year that started coming in super young and very sick. Its sad how Marshall pretty much has a monopoly on ferrets
I also adopted a new animal this month, a guniea pig, and it’s an amazing feeling to rescue a animal and giving them a new home and seeing them blossom and seeing theyr personality come through. It’s ALOT of work but it’s so worth it
I agree. I have 2 and there were times where they had issues but it was normal for guinea pigs to have. I love my guinea pigs so much, because I'm autistic, I don't really talk to them but still talk to them a little bit. Let me tell you, the oldest (cookie) is spoiled. She screams at me when she wants food/snacks And then there's the Youngest (monster) whos just living the life
Welcome home, Noodle ☺ What do you think will happen when I introduce him to Dobby and Niffler? ⬇ Thank you to the Foothills Animal Shelter for entrusting this beautiful boy to me!
I loved my ferrets they were a joy. Ultimately I had to find them a better home as I didn’t realize how much maintenance their cages would be and they deserved to be played with more than I could at the time. I named them Smokey & Bandit.
Yes yes yes, Smokey & Bandit. I'm missing them already. You were graced with an education via these loveable ferrets. It is a big responsibility, a lot of time, etc. well mostly play, ferrets love to play. We can appreciate your decision to find them a new home. That can be very sad. Where I am going with this is everybody looking to adopt ferrets should look to local ferret rescue/adoptions. Second hand ferrets have a lot to give. I am babbling now, forgive me. Like I said, "Smokey & Bandit, I am missing them already." ps oh my two ferrets, both boys, are named : TIK & TOK.
Oh my gosh Em, I was so surprised when I heard you found Noodle at Foothills! I got a Pitbull mix puppy rescue at a Foothills shelter near my own place! They're such lovely people
You got a bit of a loop there when talking about maddy towards the end of the video. Also there are hundreds of ferreta out there in ferret only rescues. I've helped rehome and rescue a few but if your looking for a new baby check these places. There all over the us and some even relocate and transport ferrets to new homes!
I absolutely LOVE Noodle!! He's just too adorable!! Side note: Around 26:50-28-50 the clip seems to be repeated. I sat here confused as to why you said it twice but upon rewatching I realized it was repeated twice and had a little giggle
I was confused for a second too. I know the struggle editing just short videos can be, and so Im sure when editing an almost 40 minute video it's easy to not realize if a tiny clip repeats. At least it added a little emphasis on how great the shelter is, as well as the people working there. 😂
Animals being abandoned when the owner(s) move is so common and so confusing for the animal. I recently saved two guinea pigs after a woman was asked by her friend to take them home with her after her kids got fed up of them and they decided to move without them. The woman knew so little, she thought they were boys and maybe a year old - not the case at all, they are both girls and honestly more like 6 months if that. Moral of the story, please please think long term when you buy or adopt a pet! Is it just for your kids? Will it make it harder to find a new apartment down the line? Etc.
Your new baby, Noodle, is adorable 😍 when I get my own place, I’m definitely going to get ferrets!! 💖💖💖 love you Em and your gorgeous pets 😊the desk in Noodle’s quarantine room is gorgeous ❤️
So interesting to hear about the ferret shortage over there, and the price! Over here in the UK you see them for £10-20 or so!! I don’t keep ferrets but this was such a great video!
There are way too many breeding over here to save £££ of getting them neutered or implanted. I had to close rescue doors to new incomes and every rescue I know of is bursting at the seams. One rescue has over 200 ferrets alone :(
Wow, I’ve never seen ferrets so cheap here in the States. The price here depends a lot on region (how many breeders in an area), but in my area even before the pandemic it wasn’t unusual for ferrets to be close to $300 in pet stores because there are no breeders in my area. If you went to the next closest major city (almost 200 miles) I’d seen them for $150 because there are breeders there and it drives the price down. So the price varies a lot here, but it’s always been over $100.
I just want to say thank you Em, I miss my ferrets so much, and watching you and noodle really reminded me of what it was like when I brought her home for the first time, it brought a massive smile to my face, so thank you for sharing with us 🧡
my favorite childhood experience was when my step mom went to one of her friends house and brought me too because her friend had ferrets. long story short ferrets are the most fun animals ever to play with they are unbelievably friendly.
I work at a pet store and I had no idea about the ferret shortage! Our ferret prices went way up recently and we didn't know why. Also, so so glad you adopted. You're the reason I figured out I wanted to be an animal educator years ago, and I got into reptiles shortly after that. I've recently rescued my 5th leopard gecko this week! Lyra has severe mbd, had layers of stuck shed, is very underweight, and she is going to get a crypto test done this week because her tail is quite thin. I don't think I would be doing this if I hadn't of watched your videos at the time - I was planning on going to school to become an artist! 💕 I love Noodle and can't wait to see him with Dobby and Niffler.
I just bought a ferret last night for just $100 and I’m so happy I found him at a low price with a healthy body. The pet store ferrets cost $379 plus taxes but I’m so happy my ferret is kind and another member of the family. He got along with my dogs and now we give him lots of cuddles 🥰
So proud to be an OG. I knew Bears name and got so excited when I saw his picture. Welcome home Noodle. You are stunning like your whole family. 🥰 also, watching him play is so relaxing.
@@Emzotic Watching ferrets in your videos helps keep the ferret addiction in me calm, especially since my house is too small for ferrets. So seeing another ferret join the family is really nice.
15:26 you're absolutely right! Bottles aren't meant for ferrets but for rodents who's fur oils will be stripped away possibly killing the animal. Ferrets are mustelidaes and rodents are a shortened word for rodentia. You seem extremely well educated in your care for them and I'm glad you're educating others on it as well.
This is the same shelter I got my Osiris from! They are a great shelter and we are so thankful to them for giving us the ability to expand our family. Also, have been watching your videos for a couple years and absolutely love them. Almost lost it seeing you were at Foothills. Lol
I heard there was a ferret shortage last week and now that's all I'm hearing :') the worst part is I was just starting to look into getting a baby brother or sister for my current ferret to have company
I honestly have been waiting what feels like forever to finally see this video and I LOVED IT. What a sweet boy you have on your hands. Perfect company for D & N!
I totally agree! I wouldn’t have stopped the adoption just because he was deaf. It would just mean I’d need to make a few adjustments for him to keep him safe
I would love to adopt or even buy a ferret I know they need friends I’m more experienced with high drive dogs and goats but ferrets would be fun to add !
My cat and my sisters ferrets were some hilarious interactions. But the smell was way to much for me. Definitely need to have more than one for them to thrive.
@@dyinhope6840 Gosh I really need to smell a ferret before I put more consideration into buying one (in the far off future). I've seen a lot of things about the smell, but I don't know how I'll react. They're so cute, and I hope not too stinky. ):
What a beautiful ferret and interesting video. In the frist clip where you play with him at home you blow at him. Being you I understand thelat that is probably also how ferrets play with each other , but I'd be really interested in learning more about that.
It’s a way of making contact with a ferret from far away without touching them. They seem to enjoy it as a kind of teasing touch. It makes mine go crazy for play!
Wow, what a coincidence. You picked your Noodle on the 30th of Oct and the very same day I picked up my two baby ferrets! They are a brother and sister pair and their names are Bramble and Juniper. They are my very first ferrets but I've been wanting them for a very long time. I wanted to say thanks to your videos keeping me informed about ferrets.
@@JodiescoxI remember having to write similar stuff during elementary school for our spelling words! We’d do like this: W Wo Wor Word We called them word triangles
I was so impressed by this video, how well spoken and knowledgeable you are as well as considerate of his needs, history etc. A true animal lover and pet friend. I’m so glad noodle got you as his adoptive ferret mom! I learned a ton from this video as well in regards to ferret care and preparations, so thank you❤️❤️❤️
There are really good double sided door insulators, kind of like door snakes but they are fitter to go on both sides, usually made of fabric and rice/beans. Also a great option for ferret proofing a door/room :)
I hate to kind of rain on the parade here but I live in Colorado and have actually had more than one bad experience with Foothills Animal Shelter ^^; issues with assessing temperaments as well as well as giving the proper vaccinations to small critters or even ensuring they are spayed/neutered before releasing them. For that reason I much more highly recommend rescues in general as well as Boulder Animal Shelter! ((violence and animal death mention) If you want to know the specifics, the scenarios were an extremely food-aggressive dog we adopted and were not given a trial to make things work, only a same-day meet and greet with our dog. We tried for 3 months to work with him but the issue escalated to water and toy aggression, and pinning our other dog on her back by the throat! After all this we were given 0 understanding and still had to pay a return fee. More recently, I "adopted" (fostered) a rabbit from them that was up for adoption in a space at the pet store I used to work at. The rabbit was not confirmed to be spayed, and was not vaccinated against RHDV2, a deadly virus sweeping through the country last year, killing rabbits very quickly and often without any symptoms. They were effectively dropping dead! After getting her vaccinated, she was then passed on to Colorado House Rabbit Rescue who spayed her and got her adopted to the right people. "Shop or adopt responsibly" has a lot of nuance to it! I'm really glad your experience getting Noodle was a good one, but I still felt it was necessary to make this known in case any followers were interested in going there. Just be cautious!)
Omg so exciting! Congrats on your new ferret! I’ve just adopted 3 baby ferrets from a rescue. I rescued 2 ferrets 2 years ago but I sadly lost one last month :’( so I adopted 3 kits that needed a home ! Love them so much and they all get along with my ferret I already had! ❤️
That rescue is amazing. the cages are very nice for being temporary cages;look so good. The enclosures are better than most permanent houses for animals.
i know the ferrets are the focus of this video, specifically noodle, but i need to address the elephant in the room... your desk is absolutely gorgeous! where did you find it?? is it an antique?
I learned real quick that my little guy doesn't like other ferrets for what ever reason so I've never been able to get another.... yet. Luckily I have a friend whose willing to allow me to set of "play dates " with hers ( basically they can see and smell each other in a room but there is a big divider physically blocking them) so he still is able to get experience with other ferrets. It's been slow but he's been making progress at not wanting to attack at the sight if another ferret. This video makes me happy to see you got noodle and that's he is still doing good by himself until he meets the other too
For anyone looking for any exotic pets, I HIGHLY recommend you DON'T buy from the big petstores like petsmart, petco, pet supplies plus, etc. These get their animals from mills who don't take good care of their pets at all. Watch Goherping's 'calling 84 petsmart and petcos to find where they get their reptiles from.' This only covers their reptiles, which come from seperate breeding facilities than their warmblooded animals, like birds and hamsters, but ALL of their pets come from mills, excepting the dogs and cats which aren't even sold there everyday like their other animals. The reason for this is because all their dogs and cats come from rescue groups who partner with them, while all the rest come from mills. Please go to rescues, local pet shops, and online breeders that you know you can trust. Please do research to find the best places to buy, and visit if possible, though it's not always possible or necessary, especially if you trust them. Please stay away from petsmart, petco, and pet supplies plus, thank you very much!! ;)
There was a little cute baby a few months old at a local pet store near me and that pet store wasnt taking good care of him and of course he was by himself. His food would sit there so long that it was moldy and crusty. I hope someone awesome adopted the cutie
Congratulations!! Noodle won the lottery with such an amazing forever home. He has a awesome Mom, brother and sister. He is so adorably clumsy and cute!! P.S. That chair and desk are EVERYTHING!!!
Can wait for the introduction between them! Noodle is precious, I'm so glad you went with adoption. They always seem to be a bit more thankful that you are giving them a second chance 🤗
Hi! I used to have ferrets but had issues with Marshall food causing health problems. I'd advise you to look into other food options and ween him off! I ended up switching them to Wysong and Core kitten food. The best option will always be a complete raw diet with access to kibble at all times but since he hasn't been raised on that it would probably be difficult to get him to start. For now, a higher-end kibble will keep him healthier than marshall brand!!!
Noodle is a bundle of joy!!! I think Dobby & Niffler will love their new brother how could they not! 🤗 Im deeply happy for all of you & that shelter is wonderful better then most I've seen. ☮❤🦦 Also Rest in Peace Bear you both were lucky to have eachother.
So sad that all those ferrets that should have gone to loving homes ending up getting drafted into lab testing.... But: Hooray for the bonus bonus weasel!
My baby girl Yukio gave birth yesterday to 8 healthy kits, and Yukio's sister Yuki is also due any day now too. So glad you were able to adopt Noodle n love the items you got for him, wish Pets at Home in the UK sold this stuff. Update Yuki also gave birth too so now have a total of 19 kitts in all. All healthy and doing well. Both moms doing extremely well and could'nt be more proud of them all. Stay Blessed people.
@@Emzotic ohhhh, that’s awesome! I love seeing a lot of ferrets together! When I have my own place I want to get some ferrets from rescue! and I will rescue as many as I can 😂 they are the sweetest little noodles 😍
So great that you adopted and didn’t shop! Little note though: WASH EVERYTHING FIRST NEXT TIME! Many people touched all those toys and beds and hammocks and bowls and now you have exposed Noodle to all that. Some may have been sick, some may not washed their hands after going to the loo and some may even have had mild COVID symptoms and a lot of those bacteria and viruses chilled out in all those items you bought. Also his immune system will be a little less resilient right now due to all the stress of moving and the shelter so he needs to be protected as much as you can. He’s a cute little guy, cherish him ❤️ ALSO FOR EVERYONE LOOKING FOR A FERRET: try adopting all those poor ferrets coming out of laboratories! My ferrets are all ex laboratory animals and they make great pets despite their horrible past as a test animal!!!
noodle is such an energetic fluffball!! love you and your fur babies, thank you for your videos!! this was so heartwarming and wholesome to see a rescue ferret get such good care and love 🥺🥺💗
OMG!!! I'm amazed at the cost of ferrets in the US. Here in the UK they are stupidly cheap. $290 is roughly £210. 8 years ago I bought my first 2 Boys for £10 each, that's approx. $13. 4 years later I adopted 3 more from a ferret rescue. The adoption fee for each ferret was £65 ($87), each ferret was vaccinated, spayed/neutered & microchipped. If we had to pay the equivalent I do think there would be less ferrets in our rescues. Its also not unusual to see them offered for free in the pet classified ads.
I love noodles colouration he’s gorgeous! I can’t wait to see the 3 play together 😍😍😍 Edit: we may not know his origin story so let’s make one! Would make the best children’s book 😍
People really underestimate how joyful ferrets are they are so adorable and are probably the most playful pet i had. I live in the UK and its really easy to get ferrets for cheap prices
The ferrets in the pet stores in Maine, USA are $380. We went the other day and they had about 4 or 5 but I’m glad someone surrendered their ferrets to me for free because WOW. They’re wonderful pets though, such fun!
He didnt seem to have any issue(from the short video segments anyhow) coming into his new environment. No fear of humans what so ever. Just a happy energetic little Noodle
Let's respect the fact she spent some of her first moments with her ferret while recording, just for our entertainment, most people would spend their first moments with their ferret trying to bond alone and playing alone
water bottles also ruin a ferrets teeth. they dont lick it so much as they will chew on it, I learned the hard way when my own noodle cracked a fang on one.
Yaaayy!! I was just about to ask what rescue you were at. My daughter and I just went on a road trip out to CO visiting her home state for the first time since she was born!!! She was sooo stoked to see Ferrets and to get to hold them! We can't have them in Cali. I told her, "These little guys are part of the reason I moved to Colorado"
So happy to see your adoption video. :) When you discussed his prior situation it reminded me of when we bought our home. The previous owner was using it as a rental property. The tenants had a few ferrets, birds and 2 dogs. They left the animals on the back screened porch while they vacated. We had to call animal services to retrieve the animals that they left behind. It was very sad. :(
