I can relate with you, whenever I adopt a new animal my family is very negative about it, even though they see my dedication on a daily basis!! So I usually keep it from them until I can’t 🤷🏼♀️
If Walter is a lone rat, I hope you can get him a friend, or two or more! Rats are incredibly social and even if they were able to have human company 24 hours of the day they still don't have the same quality of life as a rat who has same-species company. Some rats even become so depressed that they stop eating and die from starvation. Also the "peeing" is just scent-marking, which rats (Especially males) do a lot. It's just something you have to get used to :) but neutering helps a lot of the time. Well wishes to you and Walter (and hopefully Walter's future ratty friends)!
He is probably only scent marking rather than peeing. (the amount of "pee" when scent marking can be quite a lot.) I hope you get him a rat friend as soon as possible, since rats can not live alone. :)
WALTER! I’m mad I never get when you post a video so I’m catching up right now! Curious is that a rat manor cage? If I can make a suggestion I would get two rats so if one ever happens to one they will never be alone. I know it’s hard but ignore people I do I love my animals and it’s my business not anyone else’s. Btw I got two chinchillas snuffleupagus and Cookie Monster
