Great work, especially from the point of view, bringing a refinished body in line to the look of the original neck. I'm not a big fan of "brand new pre aged instruments" - in this case, absolutely right thing. - Also, took a note about the Patina you used for an upcoming project on my side - thanks!

Thanks for the demo of 50s wiring. I have owned a 73 P Bass since 1981. It's not that beat up and the chrome is not scratched. I think relic jobs like this are more about matching current tastes rather than simulating realistic aging of a well maintained musical instrument. Not all old Fenders get abused and or neglected.

I don't really like aging instruments, but somehow it makes way more sense on a refinished old one. Wether you like it or not, this is a good job talking about the craft itself. Looks authentic
@KrisBarocsi
@KrisBarocsi Год назад
Thanks a lot! Yeah I kinda like relics and kinda don’t. For example I like the process and the details of a nicely done aging. It’s not that easy actually. 😅 But if I have the option for myself, I’d rather get a super subtle aged guitar (pretty much only weather checking) as opposed to a heavy relic.
@Oscaraha
@Oscaraha Год назад
I have a 1963 with the same problem. Just got it refretted, but the refinish is just too new.. Pretty relevant video for me👍 about the effect on pots, when you removed and put on the strings again the strings will loose alot of gunk and residue and then brighten quite up a bit. Im not saying that the new pots isnt better, but this is a factor thats also make an big impact on the sound.

Hi, it’s easy to find ice spray on the internet, just google it and order it. Even the „big A“ sells it. And as for the chemical: it‘s ferric chloride and you can also buy it from online shops. I’m guessing you‘ll end up finding it in a chemical supply store. Cheers

@KrisBarocsi
@KrisBarocsi Год назад
I’m not sure how pure this ferric chloride is that I have but I don’t mix it with water or anything. But as told, chrome hardware is tricky and hard to get right. Nickel is much better for aging.
@marcellissner8968
@marcellissner8968 10 месяцев назад
Hey Kris. Gute Arbeit. ;)
