My apologies Misha 🙈 It was me driving that S-Max and 100% my mistake that I didn’t turn off the indicator after the first Golf had passed. We were 5 people in the car and we all talked about how lucky we were, that the guy in Golf no. 2 could drive Now we know why. Amazing reaction - and surprising speed. I have always emphasised to the people that I give a go in my cars on the ring to pay attention to your mirrors all the time, because it can so easily go wrong. This time it was myself and it was a close call😳 We tried to find the car afterwards to apologise, but could not find it. Now I know it was you, so I hereby apologise and thank you for saving the moment 💪🏻🏁
Great, that you comment about it and apologise! This has to be pinned. I was thinking immediately that you are probably not just stupid, but especially at this part of the track and at those speeds, you simply could be overwhelmed and forgot to turn off the indicator.
@@friedensgabel 185/190 diesel, 240 petrol the petrol is the same as the MK3 Focus ST (R9Dx engine, based on mazda L block). I have a MK3 Focus ST-3 with 300+ BHP sat in my lockup. Quaife LSD to go on later this year and an oil cooler too
The highest it got was 113C (235F), which is just a few degrees higher than the normal operating range of most modern street cars. 205F - 230F is the typical thermostat range today, 235F at the track is barely anything.
@@gpaje it's not alarming or anything, but for a track car it would be better if the cooling system could keep the engine between 90-100°C even in the summer. This car has an oil cooler, but still got up to >130°C. The best oil cooler doesn't help if the engine block is at 113°C.
Watching you is a great example of how left foot is perfect to weight transfer and balance the car between curves or in the middle of when you need to.
5:45 I believe he indicated for the white golf infront of you and didn't turn off the indicator. Surprise, there is another white golf - but yeah, that was close.
This is why the fantasy of driving the ring or on PS4 would trump reality for me. I'd be too slow, too scared and too much of a danger on track to enjoy myself
@@pigeonpoo1823 Just stay on the right, indicating right for the first couple of laps till you're confident to pick up the pace. I think everyone spends their first laps on the Ring watching the mirrors more than whats happening in front 😂
Epic save. That speaks experience, composure, and depth of knowledge. You accurately predicted his driving line was off, despite the indicator and hit your brakes. Made minor corrections and avoided an accident. Most intermediate to novice drivers would've crashed. Great job Misha.
That Golf was a proper rocket! I watch all your videos but I seldom comment on them. This time I had to make an exception, because I really liked that car and that run. The sound, the handling and the quick reaction when that S-Max suddenly turned in on you. You get an A+, Misha. Keep 'em coming. 🙂
I also rarely comment but was about to say the same before reading yours, I strongly dislike golfs because I think 60k for a hatchback is insane, but this is truly an amazing looking and performing car.
I am getting the impression the Ford S-Max had indicated for the white car (ahead of you) to overtake and then did not check properly his mirrors and forgot the indicator on in the heat of the moment..anyway glad it all went well, fast reactions were crucial.
It's possible the driver didn't realize they had left the turn signal on from a previous car? I know that's one of the reasons the club I usually do track days with do not like turn signals for passes, it's easy to end up leaving them on (rather than using the 3-blink mode) or if there's multiple cars waiting to pass you can't tell how many people they are trying to let through. I'm glad that it seems like there wasn't any damage, that looked like an impressively quick Golf.
thing is - they just don't understand - the track environment. Probably sits watching F1 on a Sunday shouting at the screen - then when he's out on a track he's totally out of his depth..
Misha. I stumbled upon your channel a few days ago. I have to say after watching many of your vids. You are an amazing driver in general and especially on the Ring. I wish I had the ability to bring my vehicle there and have you drive it. Also because you have probably never driven a MK5 NA 2.5 I5 VW Rabbit. They never released my engine in that side of the world from what I know. It would be a blast if it was possible. But, I can keep dreaming and you can keep driving. Thank you for the content Carmrade.
Two car guys in a Golf. I really enjoyed the video and reaction you did as a driver Misha. Lots to learn from you. I also have to say that car owner's reaction is also legendary! Be safe and have fun guys!
It would be nice to leave the temperature indicators till the end of the video to see how well the car can recover after the lap. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to see that.
Nice driving, but don't forget: Just because you're in a fast car and wearing a helmet it doesn't mean that you're on a trackday. It's Touristenfahrten, so you have no claim to use the racing line, no marshall will show a blue flag and you have to follow german road traffic regulations, because it's a public road with a recommended speed of 130 km/h. Therefore, in theory it is just allowed to go faster than 130 km/h and to overtake when it is safe to do so. I've been on the ring often enough and I know that you easily forgt about this when you're behind the wheel, but in fact, you're on a public road, not on a trackday and so you can't expect everyone to be a professional driver.
the guy probably had forgotten his flasher was turned on... happens all the time on the road around here (you can spot them if seen with the flasher for long enough without matching behavior)
man. what a mega lap. incredible. Def seemed like it could use a bit more tyre but wow. Just wow. Lovely track knowledge and commitment. This is probably my fav lap of the last 50 or so. wow.
Running a bit hot despite the extra cooling elements. Did he replace the oil cooler? DSG cooler is also a must on the track. Great save Misha and props to the owner of that S-Max to come clean here.
Everything could run a little cooler, sure, but it's safe as long as the car is allowed to cool down a bit after a lap (eg a cooldown slower pace lap or some driving around outside the ring). When it comes to the downshifts, i basically think the DSG software was just protecting the gearbox by preventing a downshift that would lead to overrev (at least for the situation at Brunchen, i can't find the other situation where Misha claims he could not downshift, maybe i missed it).
Just my personal feeling, it feels that the Touristenfahrten are not treated as Touristenfahrten anymore, but like a track day. Maybe it's just me, but is the exit of Fuchsröhre a standard point to overtake with such a speed difference? Yeah, the SMAX went too far to the middle, but I feel like in Touristenfahrten this is what everyone should expect: people who don't know the track perfectly, maybe are struggling with the line and too focused to drive the car. Not what it should be like, but realistically this is to be expected. I mean no criticism whatsover, just an observation.
This looks to be a very consistent build. No drama just 10-20kmh higher corner speeds than those track warriors we see lately. Finally again a track car where money went into the right places.
Hey Misha, a video or a reel where you explain or just give some Tipps how to get used to left foot braking would be cool. I started for few days to practice but when I feel like it works there is this moment where shhhit works 😂. Cheers from Frankfurt
Misha Handled it Perfectly, if it wasn't his experience Definitely there was going to be an Accident. Never Trust a Minivan coming out of a Mall Parking Lot and Worse on a Race Track
I feel like i've seen more "near" crashes with all these youtubers and stuff getting you to drive their cars, good thing you're a great driver :D Stay safe :)
This comment is what the driver of the Smax said on the full video “My apologies Misha It was me driving that S-Max and 100% my mistake that I didn't turn off the indicator after the first Golf had passed. The minivan was so clearly indicating because of the other car in front passing not for you Misha. You came too fast for the guy to react while he was getting into the corner, I doubt he saw you at all. Anyway, good video as usual!
Did anyone else notice the white Golf(I think it was a Golf but not sure) In the back view? You got ahead at 7:08 but then he shadowed you pretty much till the end...
It's not a message in the bottle but a message on the speedo 📣sending out an SOS.😁It's starting to heat up very strongly, especially the ""water"".more 110⁰c.sound very well 🎉
wow, i thought 130+°C oil temp is too much for a engine thats getting floored like that. mine never exeeds 125°C and came only close to it when driving slow in summer. but i would never floor it like misha did in the video xD (1.8 TSI, 141kW, 192HP, VW Polo GTI)
I can't believe they let just anyone on that road. Some drivers really shouldn't be turned loose on their own on the ring without at least some training or passing a test or something.
@@Lawnyyy- we’ve got the cs It’s the basically the mk8 R just not 4wd Engine turbo etc When it was originally dyno’d to see what power it was stock in October last year it pushed 327/333 Stage 1 took it past the 400/410 and the bolt ons for stage 2 is now what I mentioned A lot of the cs mk8’s in the uk are around that figure mind you 12 November ours was done and I’d say it must have been one of the first mapped when it was finally unlocked Take a look at these on here sprogley motor sport there demo is running the same mate This car on the vid has a lot more to give than 420 imo

Wouldn't have trusted the minivan, because it was indicating to the right before it hit the apex of the previous corner and was likely not intended to be on. Drive defensively, even when having a hoon.
5:45 Seeing how long the indicator was to the right, I would assume that the driver has accidentally left the indicator on has already forgotten about it. You should never trust other drivers to do the sane thing when anybody can enter the track.
Nice intro! Perfect driving! Apart from the minivan driver (he obviously forgot to unset his indicators), I noticed you also had to brake hard 2x behind a BMW quite in the middle. A lot going on ... I wonder what time was possible without traffic?
After the minivan event, I think Misha didn’t push. There was another racing line hog 😂 Still great to watch the master at work! And shoutout to the owner for not making a deal of the incident!
