I think it's more of just rose being a threat, since like kuya glocs said, rose grew up not being able to study how to fully control her powers. And here in Shadows of Rose, this is where she fully learns and understand not just her powers but who she really is, thus making her accept and love herself. So it's prolly just because they see her as a threat, and the sniper is just there to assist.

From what I understood, Miranda amalgamated various memories of the Duke from the people stored in the Megamycete. They didn't remember the Duke's face nor understood his motives, so the created individual was not like the Duke from the main game. Another file explains that the Rose clones exhibit some of Rose's abilities when subject to extreme terror, so Miranda used the Masked Duke to "stress test" them.

Perhaps he's a living ghost lol, but it would have been a teary moment if they shown him walking because he just said " I've always watched over you", that caught me off guard.

@@ashuea2 but in the end, didn't rose's car stopped when they neared the walking avatar (ethan)? maybe he's not a ghost, more of like rose being able to live in 2 worlds. Cause didn't miranda say that she created K like an illusion? If miranda could do that to rose in the real world and i mean, rose got more powerful after she beats miranda, she's prolly living in both worlds. Just a theory.

@@ashuea2 According to those notes left by Miranda, she tried to collect various memories of different people from the megamycete. Using the amalgamation of those memories, she created an entity, which she notes someone she knew from her past. She didn't specifically said that the resulting entity was the duke. From what I also remembered that entity/creature was another failure because it was unstable and it went out of control. She did mention that her "first creation" was the masked duke. Although she didn't specify if the masked duke was her first creation inside the realm of consciousness OR if she was talking about the real world, i.e. did she create the real duke in the real world? We don't know. Which brings us back to the mystery of the duke. What became of the masked duke is unknown as he is not seen again afterwards.
