Hinge the bathroom door out, but slice the door vertically and hinge that as well so it's a bifolding door. It's a proper spacesaver.

My grandfather done this in his home. He took the door off the hinges, found centre and used a tracksaw to cut the door vertically. Sanded and cleaned up the exposed edged and put hinges on. Made it a bifolding door which made it fit the area it was in so much better.

Always hinge those doors out, because if something happens to the person in the bathroom, you may not be able to help, because they block the door and you can't open it

FYI a lot of RV ovens are notorious for burning the bottom of everything you put in them. You can get a pizza stone in the bottom of it to help distribute the heat. The Air Stream is looking great and your family will love it!

You could do a sliding door on the inside for the bathroom. Tambour style with a hanging track on the top and a guide track on the bottom. It could curve in on right back to the sink cabinet or all the way to the outside wall. Have a sweep on the bottom and gaskets around the door frame. The door can go past the opening on the toilet side for a stop and latch bar for the door.

For the bathroom do a Double hinged door. So a door split down the middle and reattach the two halves with a piano hinge. We hafe those on our yacht and they work like a charm. That also makes it possible to hinge it to the inside

You need a fan for your bathroom that pulls the air out of the trailer and evacuates to the outside of the unit. Most Travel Trailer bathroom doors swing into the trailer as there isn't enough room in the bathroom for the door to swing into the bathroom. Vinyl tiles work great for trailer flooring. Easy to clean and easy to modify in the future if you want to change the flooring later. Use spray contact cement to attach to the wood underlayment.

After you flush your toilet with the FOOT petal slowly depress the petal to leave about an inch of water over the flapper valve. Doing this prevents gas from coming up from your black tank. Another major thing I’ld recommend is get in the habit of turning off your water pump when you leave your trailer. Good luck and happy trailering.

Hey, LPG stands for Liquid Petroleum Gas. Only you guys call it propane. Outside America, it's LPG. On the door to the bathroom, you can use a concertina door that is on a top track and hinged on one side. Another comment stated how to make one. But, the overhead track assists in ease of opening, stops the full door opening into the bathroom or hall, allows for lock adjustment in the future and sag at the lock side.

For the bathroom door: Left hand outward swing. You want it to open outwards in case something happens to a person inside, they could end up falling in front of the door and block it. Left hand so that it opens towards the main area and makes it easier to get in and out instead of towards the bedroom where you won't have much room to turn.

A travel trailer (which you have), motorhome, tent camper, truck camper, etc.. are all types of recreational vehicles (RV).

Glad you're back RVin'! Something to consider (especially if you'll be camping where the temps get above about 80 degrees) is a way to get your A/C into the back bedroom. I didn't see any openings beside the door- if it's shut, no coolio. We've had several motorhomes and live in the south so airflow is really important for a cool nights snooze. You may like to run a channel/vent along the ceiling to include vents back to the BR. Plus, your son may get cold while you all are more than toasty so vents are nice options to control the air output.

You should paint the floor with an epoxy garage floor paint. Also do a roll-top desk type door for the bathroom.

For securing the side panels in the bedroom, consider using Hafele Button-Fix connectors. They’ll hold securely, are hidden, and you can still gain access for future maintenance.

RV is anything you'd use for Recreational purposes (Trailer or Motor Home)... like vacationing, camping or travelling. I live in a converted 1971 GMC Buffalo Coach (think old Greyhound Bus), but I don't consider it an RV, because I don't move it (or very seldom)... it's my permanent, "Stationary" Home. More like a Mobile Home, with a giant Detroit Diesel engine :D

Truth. We have a dual power one, but the electric part quit after a year. 5 years later and the propane still works.

Look into a Tambour door. It could be utilised as a pocket door as it's so thin. Used a lot in camper conversions and kits are readily available.

LPG is liquid petroleum gas, it probably monitors your gas usage for your furnace and cook top.

Liquid Propane Gas, actually. Not too far off from what you said. The LPG monitor hooks into the tanks to see how full they are.

I think it is actually Liquid (or Liquified) Petroleum Gases. Propane is a LPG, so is butane.

The bathroom door in an RV (or sometimes a boat) is usually an accordion door. Or like a 2 or 3 panel door with hinges between the panels, so they don't fold out so far into the walkway.

definitely left-hand out-swing on the bathroom door...also, adding some vertical spines to the bathroom side of the wall and its door will give you all the rigidity you need in on that 3/4" thick wall...Looks great!!

You should install a bar or wire in the cabinets at a height that you can still get things in and out of the cabinets but keeps items in the cabinets from sliding into the cabinet doors. If things can slide in the cabinets while your driving they can still spill out of the cabinets despite the latches It also keeps things from falling out on to you once you have stopped and you open the cabinet. You can make these to slide up or down out of the way when not in use. Or just make it removable

I suggest you avoid hinged doors. The door opening into the aisleway blocks traffic. Also, when driving, you do not want the door swinging wildly and slamming back and forth. Rather, use a sliding accordion door.

For the bathroom door, build something that will stay in line with the walls. With the floor plan you have, any sort of hinged door is going to impede moving around the air stream. I did see others mention either an accordion door or a tabor door. With how nice everything looks, I would suggest tabor since accordion doors generally look cheap since they are made of plastic. Plus, with your skills, you can make the tabor look like the pocket door that you'll be building for the bedroom when closed.

If you're going to paint the floors, I might look into something like an epoxy based paint. Durable, stain resistant, and isn't going to wear and require repainting every year or two. Plus, most come with little flecks you sprinkle on, adding to the retro look.

I would go with some vinyl floor planks like they use in RVs... easy to install and water proof... and if you have pets... their claws dont chew up the paint or make clicking noises like hard wood planks, easier to take care of and lasts a very long time!

Great toilet - I have one in my cottage. There is a plastic valve by the foot pedal. Pull it out in the winter or you will have to replace it every spring. Easy to do but $35 (Cdn) on Amazon. Accordian or bi-fold door for the bathroom. Love the trailer and all of your videos.

The entrance door, i know you want this 1950-60's looking but id change the step to get in the airstream to automatic when the doors opened, I'm sure it wouldn't be difficult to install the motorized step and wiring. AIRSTREAM looks awesome. You did a hell of a job. For just some guy with a few wood working tools.

Go and look at some larger motor boats and see how the wet area is sorted..that will tell you the best approach to use for that. Suggest an epoxy based floor covering which would be functional as well….

Eric, Nice work so far on the Camper. TIPS! OVEN... Place a large pizza stone in the oven, it helps a LOT in baking. Cookies, Cup Cakes, pies, Cake all turn out MUCH better when the heat is moderated. Camper ovens are not the best ovens. BATTERIES... If they are at or below 32 Degrees F, DO NOT CHARGE!!! The batteries will be destroyed. There should be a circuit to prevent that from happening, but Shit Happens... Your Mark 8 eyeball can read a thermometer and put a Nix to battery destroying charging... Plus them batteries are not cheap. Oh, you can discharge them when temp is below 32. Just refrain from charging...

amazing! I buy a motrohome a long time ago, in order to re-build it, and few time later, Bourbon buy an airstream to rebuild it. i make a pause in my project because of so many things.... and this guy stop make videos of the airstrem. 2 weeks ago i return with my project....anf guest who is recover the airstrem project....!! Our bathroom in Thailand is very small, the door swung in, and there wasn't really enough room to turn around. I cut the door in half and made it into a double door. It works well, and looks cool. Double door is the way to go bro.

I was traveling to Bend back in the early 1990's, on the 97, in a rv towing a car. It started snowing, the roads started getting ruts from the ice, I touched the breaks, everything locked up and I slid for a second. I didn't give it anymore gas, and let the rig stop where it wanted to. It was dark, I went to sleep. When I woke up I was surrounded by 18 wheelers that seemed to be protecting me from any kind of danger. We waited for about an hour, then the roads were ok to drive on. Good thing you waited for spring!

As an Insurance Agent with licenses in many states, we would classify this as an RV, Recreational Vehicle. Yes, there are up the line and down the line RV's with different names as a unique identifier. Motorcoach has a motor and steering wheel, and Travel Trailers without motor or steering wheel which means, it's pulled. Further down the line you can have a horse trailer, which is not an RV. Then a Utility Trailer, again, not an RV. If I were to insure this Airstream RV, I would classify it as: 1st an RV, then 2nd a Travel Trailer type of RV. Coverages for the RV are dictated by insurance principles and state law. Your liability coverages come from the vehicle towing the RV and physical damage, content, roadside assistance would all come from the RV type policy. Check your homeowners policy because some content can be covered as personal property by that HO1 policy.

18:42 buy commercial type dark silver tint for the windows, but remember even though the window has tint on it if its dark outside and the lights are on inside you can see in like a fishtank. So you will still need to pull the blinds. The silver type tint will blend in with the airstream look and it really helps with solar gain and heat loss.

In the mid fifties my mother bought an Airstream trailer got it all paid for.. dad graduated from Michigan State, accepted a job at Hughes aircraft, where they built the Spruce Goose... they towed it out here lived in it for several years in Culver City were the Jack in the Box -- is Sepulveda Boulevard... then they bought a house in the bedroom community of West Chester... they are really well-built it's probably out there somewhere still...LAXVESPA-LOSANGELES

Do an angled corner door next to that kitchen cabinet into the bathroom? Right now you have plywood protruding but you could cut that back to the cabinet and put the angled door there. Hope that translates?

For the toilet's door, you could opt for a custom sliding door where the front would be on a round rail and the back on the strait one so the door would travel and pivot. There might be a need for a bottom rail, but maybe you can pull this up :) Would leave some space for some storage cause it wouldn't hinder the door from opening... Well, whatever you choose is certainly will have been thought through! I'm enjoying your builds so I'm fine with whatever :D

In England we call them "caravans". Trailers are usually open topped boxes on wheels which are pulled along at the back of a van or car, {great video.)

Doors in a trailer are a pain. We switched ours to a bifold. Doesn’t get in the way and we have a great exhaust fan. I could see where a small double door would work in your trailer. They could open without completely blocking the walkway.

Here in the uk we would call it a caravan as it is towed, a motorhome (you call them RV’s) has a motor (basically a converted van type of thing)

Ovens in campers are nice: 1) pot and pan storage 2) biscuits and gravy or cinnamon rolls in the morning (,great on a cool morning) 3) pot roast is a great camping meal, and leftovers last forever. We have a tradition of camping every Thanksgiving (almost 20 years now), and use the oven heavily then.

LPG is for your propane level (if it hooked up of course) abbreviation of Liquefied petroleum gas. Or maybe you can have it for a “smelly” sensor in the head you are building so you know when to open that window 😅

Have the door swing both ways, That way if someones in the kitchen you can still get in without making them move, otherwise when working on it or going in you can pull it out

You could do a sliding door like on vans that opens like a barn door but seals flush when closed. Most likely harder to find hardware for that and implement it but sure you could pull it off. Both puns intended.
