I'm at work laughing and my coworker (who is white) asked what I'm laughing at and I told him Gary Owens. He said I don't know him. That let's me know that Gary has officially been in the black community forever.
I had a date with an Army Nurse, went back to her place. I noticed a picture of her and a guy wearing a Green Beret. She told me they were divorced. I told her I had to get the troops up early for PT and needed to leave. Stayed as far away from her as possible-didn’t need some whacked out snake eater killing me in my sleep.
Seriously first heard of Gary on Club Shay Shay during Katt's crazy interview. Been a subscriber ever since. Great comic. He's got the talent, and he clearly works hard. Love seeing a fellow military veteran do well, too.
Being stationed in Coronado do you happen to remember the little shoppet next to the entrance that was run by a super sweet little old lady named Betty? She worked there in the late 90 early 2000 before she passed away, she was the nicest person that knew everybody’s name that came in regularly. Best memory’s of that little base that stuck with me all this time
@@makesmartTROYces hell yeah he’s telling the truth. The instructors play mind games all day because most of the students physically can do whatever they want them to do. Now when you’re tired and cold you don’t feel like doing anything and since the instructors see so many students they know when to mess with you. You’ll get wet and sandy while they are eating donuts and stuff or when you workout they always pick the strongest instructor who can lead that workout just to mess with you.
The fact that the wife said he took 16 years to propose because, "he's thorough" is CRAZY... Lol, if she really thinks that's why he took so long, well, she deserves to have waited that long 😬
AND he quite likely screwed her out of receiving his full military benefits since there's length-of-marriage requirements. I guess he didn't want her to get survivors benefits while he was still active duty. 😒
I had a similar situation with a woman who was married to a green beret. Saw his picture on the end table in his fatigues and that green beret on his head. She confirmed that was her husband and said he's overseas right now. She was gorgeous but I didn't want no parts of him if he ever found out so i left IMMEDIATELY.
I think they've been together 24 years total (including the 16 years before they got married). Her first answer was the bitter answer she gives to strangers because she's not going to say they've only been married 8 years when she put in all those years waiting on his ass. 🤣
When the guy said he was a SEAL I kept trying to get a good look at his face. I’m a retired West Coast Navy SEAL and Gary’s right, there aren’t that many black SEALs. I went through BUD/S in ‘91-‘92, and they were trying like hell to get more in and get them through BUD/S. They could quit, but the cadre would try to talk them into staying. That said, the black SEALs I worked with were solid operators.
I wasn't a seal but worked with a few on more than one occasion and your right, I only saw one black seal my entire enlistment. What puzzled me was he began saying he was ship company. I don't recall any seal being assigned to the fleet and he didn't seem to know too much about Coronado with the excuse; "it's been years, I'm sixty years old." I wasn't assigned to Coronado but I've been there enough times to know, there's two sides of the base. I'll leave it right there.
@bigjohn7057 you think all Balck people can't swim or what?🤔🤦 My friends and I learned the moment we turned 3-4 years old, thanks to our parents initiative
@@stormybil Don’t get offended by his question. Swimming was the single biggest problem getting black guys through BUD/S, both b/c they tended to be leaner (and thus negatively buoyant) and because, yes, many of them didn’t grow up swimming as your parents taught you. When I went through every single black BUD/S student was assigned his own, personal swim coach from among the SEAL instructor cadre. I watched a white guy that was a poor swimmer get pressured into ringing out on Day 1 at a pool evolution. I didn’t feel bad for him. What did he think he was getting into? Black guys would get pulled out of the water, coaxed into staying, and then put back in. Many still quit. BUD/S sucks, as it should. And most of the suck in the first 2 phases involved long swims in cold water and exercises intended to test your ability to stay calm and function in a near-drowning environment, b/c every SEAL I know (including me) has almost drowned in their career (and I knew several that DID drown). It’s not racism. Most white guys quit BUD/S too. But few black guys say, “I want a career where I spend long hours freezing my butt off underwater”, and fewer still stay with it. Like I said, those that stuck with it were solid dudes.
I actually dated the ex wife of a Navy SEAL. Woke up at her place with flowers and a card on her table. (Not there night before!) Had her go crank my car before I left. 😂😂😂
Came to the comments for this very reason. Also didn’t know shit about Coronado and said he was on a ship. The term Special Forces ONLY applies to green berets.
@@irishgriffon863 Exactly, he would have said something along the lines of Naval Special Warfare or something like that. Didn't even remember the years he was in. FAKE.
@@commonman711did he call himself a SEAL though? I remember Gary did, and the dude seemed hesitant and like he tried to say something before Gary moved on. Makes me wonder if he was in some SOF support role, like EOD, HUMINT, diver, and so on. Where they work with and do missions with SEALs and other operators but aren’t SEALs themselves.
@@alabamachoctaw274 brother he wouldn’t be stationed on a ship in Coronado. Yes he could have went to an A-school prior to Bud/s but that is entirely different and they had a placeholder rate for guys back then. Look up occams razor the simplest solution here is dude is a fraud. The amount of SEALs converting in from another rate/coming from a ship is much lower than you think let alone a ship in SD
He said special forces, and Gary said SEAL. I think it was a mix up and the dude was SOF support or something. There’s a lot of support roles where you do the training and missions without actually being a SEAL, like if you’re EOD, HUMINT, a diver or some other job
Amazing that when considering the quantity of individuals & interactions to the plethora in diverse societies, only 1 comic got excreted. A Damn Good Un’….✨🤣✨
They could have met at school (which would help explain why they waited 16 yrs). Would also put them in their 50s, and she's clearly taken care of herself, I know women in their 60s who look like they're in their 40s. I think our perceptions of ageing have changed because, for some reason, Gen Z are out here ageing like milk, whilst a lot of Gen X are ageing like wine (some like merlot, some like moonshine... 😂).
