Also, after he went deaf, he was kinda considered the “crazy old man” by people cuz he would spend a lot of his time pacing, talking to himself, and writing the music down as he imagines it in his head. But he did use ear horns for a bit as he was going deaf to try to hear better (given to him by the same guy who invented the metronome, which he also gave to him)
