12:35 - And now what?
13:49 - Why am I not going back to India?
I moved to Australian as an international student from India with a lot of hopes and dreams like any other international student in Australia who comes for studying abroad from India.
Studying in Australia was probably the best decision of my life I had ever taken and I do not regret even one second of it. However, after studying and working in Australia every person wants to stay back and get PR in Australia or permanent residency in Australia and so did I.
Life in Sydney as a student and as a working professional is amazing and better than I had imagined. I made friends from all over the world, learnt different cultures and changed myself in a way that I am so confident that I can live anywhere else in the world. Living in Australia comes with its ups and downs like any other place.
However, things and situations took a different turn than what I had imagined my life in Sydney to be and I had to take the hard decision to leave Australia for good.
And today I am sharing everything about how life in Sydney turned out for me as an international student from India, living in Sydney as a student, living in Sydney, Australia's pros and cons and working in Australia. I will also share about my struggles to get PR in Australia after Masters and why I have chosen to move out of Australia.
Let me know if you want to see more such videos and I will put my efforts to create more of these kind of videos along with my travel vlogs.
Until then, enjoy!

I'll be honest when I say this as an Indian "Once we move out of India to a developed country (UK, EU, AUS, CAN, NZ, Middle East), we do not feel like returning home to India (unless forced to due to visa issues or for parents) as we get exposed to the better standards of living, freedom of expression, better quality of air/water/food, etc." I do not think whether congress or BJP ruling India will make much of a difference as the gap that exists between India and the Developed world is way too much and does not seem like that gap will reduce. It is harsh but the honest truth! Indians have been migrating for the past several decades and that will continue as long as there are major gaps between developed and developing world.

People need to know that what Australia really requires is highly educated but low payed fuel station attendant, warehouse worker, barista worker, delivery driver; whilst you earn you spend it all on living expenses, making rich more richer, that’s why the locals are demanding more low payed workers, students etc. so they can have it all easy and comfortable.
@jed2055
@jed2055 3 месяца назад
When I moved interstate in Australia I expected to land the job I was trained for withing 3 months. 18 months later I took a labourer's job. It's all I could get yet I was highly trained in my career choice. I never did get a job back in that sector. That's how hard it is in Australia so please spare me your complaints. kingrameez1 said, "People need to know that what Australia really requires is highly educated but low payed fuel station attendant, warehouse worker, barista worker, delivery driver;" No mate, that's why the government make it hard to get into this country. If a highly educated person is allowed to enter with no jobs in the market for those skills, that person can end up pumping petrol or working menial tasks. The real trouble is, many citizens of 3rd world countries will do anything to escape their country's poverty and zero opportunities. It is not the job of countries like Australia to take each and every person from anywhere in the world who feel they would like to live in better circumstances. Australia is a big country on the map but with heavily mechanised manufacturing, ditto for agriculture and a small population, it simply does not need a flood of folk from poorer nations or anywhere for that matter but especially people whose skills are not required. Can you not see that? Many citizens from the UK and the US fail in their application to gain permanent entry here just as Australians fail doing the same thing elsewhere. Each country has it's own problems but letting people enter and stay with very few jobs that suit their skills base is just plain stupid. There will always be people who once rejected, turn the argument around so its somehow that country's fault. That doesn't wash mate.

Congrats for the PR in Canada! Definitely a way better decision than staying in Aus. The migration system is frustrating and the government treated international students or foreigner like money tree, nothing more. I too tried for Canada during the covid period when all immigration stuff stopped here. But after a few months of the Canada application, I got the Aus PR invitation. It took me 10 years to get Aus PR and today I passed my citizenship test.

I admire your resilience. I graduated with a bachelor's from an ivy league uni in the US, into the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis. It was impossible to get a job in the US. Spent 5 years grinding it out in Hong Kong, moved to Singapore for another 5 years, and recently was invited to apply for a Global Talent Visa (858) in AU rather quickly, which grants PR. I always suggest that people grind out a few years of relevant experience before doing a Masters - not only does one get more out of an eventual masters degree, but it may deter you from ever doing one at all (sparing you the expense, as was my case).
@Whatsnextakanksha
@Whatsnextakanksha Год назад
Thanks! GTE visa is a little difficult to achieve unless you have 10+ years of experience and earning over a certain bracket. But these things are more open now than ever so maybe the future potential candidates will benefit from this info. Thank you and wish you all the best xx
@thelungilife6057
@thelungilife6057 Год назад
@@Whatsnextakanksha Agree - however, in the end, your likelihood of getting PR anywhere is heavily dependent on your tax potential and demonstrated rather than theoretical employability. I would dare to presume that it's part of why you've found it easier to head to Canada now, with a few years of work under your belt. I think we have a heavy bias towards education for its own sake in India - "didn't get a job - go do a Masters degree". However, one is a more attractive worker for every year of actual work experience - and a Masters does not count towards that very much, regardless of the additional skill points (they'll just up the thresholds if they have more international Masters graduates!). You're effectively trying to find the Nash equilibrium between your own interests and the interests of the labour market/policymakers. A way to further one's interests in the past was to pay for an Aussie Masters program. But they have moved their portion of the equilibrium, and seem to care less and less about whether you've shelled out tens of thousands of dollars on an Aussie tertiary education. They've shifted expectations towards greater practical expertise. Hence my advice not to pursue a Masters immediately following a Bachelor's degree.

I went to Germany to study after it because I am from there and my family lives here and itwas the best chance on education for me. We have been in a long distance on and off thing I visited him last year but this is not a solution for longer but he is essentially tied to live in Australia for another two years because he got nominated for the skilled work visa and after three years he gets the PR and it is still two more years to come and I found your video because I was googeling if there is faster options for PR in Australia but after watching your videos I believe it is very hard and takes a long time... :(

Hey there! So I moved with my boyfriend to Canada, we had applied together. Your boyfriend in Australia can apply for a dependent visa for you in Australia and once that is granted you can stay with him until he gets his PR. In his PR application as well he can add you as a de-facto partner if you live together for a while. Check the requirements for dependent visas if you can apply for those.

I had a little trouble initially when I had applied for my PR as it was around the same time cover had started. Most international students only wish to study in either Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane. I don't understand why most of them can't just move to regional areas. Atleast see some videos on RU-vid on Australian immigration before coming to study here. Australia happily lets you stay here if you commit to living in a regional area. Please don't do stupid things like studying in some sub standard university in the big cities and end up with no PR and lots of student debt. I came straight to Canberra and thereafter my PR was kinda sorted EDIT: Please pick courses that will actually get you a job. If you do courses like cybersecurity, intelligence etc. you simply cannot work in Australia unless you become a citizen after which you are eligible for a security clearance. No country will let a foreigner work in their cyber security or intelligence. This video is basically about how to do everything wrong to get a PR
@Whatsnextakanksha
@Whatsnextakanksha Год назад
Yes well I did not have right guidance to start with and whatever guidance I received was basically misguidance. I do mention in the video that these are the mistakes I made and I don’t want anyone else to make them hence I made the video. The lack of right guidance is the problem and that’s what I have addressed in the video. If I had someone tell me what course should be correct or which city should be right, I’d have been on a different path today. Instead of criticising, you should understand where is this video and person coming from. 😊

Every person has a different experience in Australia and you must understand that instead of criticizing . I came straight to Canberra in 2017, and they changed their migration system drastically. I did study in Canberra for two years, even I sorted to have a job in my nominated occupation, and I guess what? Canberra removed my occupation from the ACT list twice within a year. My partner got his occupation removed as well. They mocked around with the ACT list every 4 months, and it was very difficult to guess if our occupations would be back on list. After 4 years in Canberra, we decided to leave Canberra as our occupations were not added back to list. CONCLUSION: Even if you studying and working in regional Australia, there is not any guarantee that your PR will be locked. At the end it is an unfair gambling game.

I am very surprised about one thing, the low probability to get a sponsorship. Maybe it's harder in your industry but I heard (maybe It's not correct to) that lots of people coming in OZ in WHV were able to get a sponsorship after something like 6 months in some big companies in the CBD (different cities ). I am sure you've explored everything, I am just wondering if it's really a myth or It's also luck. I really hope for you in the meanwhile you can enjoy Canada. Hi Samir, I have not moved to Canada yet so yet to explore the job market and the living style. Both countries are unique in their own way and initially there would a bit of struggle to settle anywhere ✌🏼😊

I feel for you. All the five years spent were enough to get PR in Canada. But the experience is cool and I live your courage. Is it possible to finish masters in another country and enter Australia for a diploma in construction (bricklaying)? I will be moving to Tokyo for masters in peace and conflict and Its my dream to settle in Australia. So your video just opened my eyes to the real situation with my degree when it comes to Australia.

Hey! Yeah you can. But when you’ll be applying, just check the latest updates and see if there are any conditions on this course and occupation. Good luck to you!

No one can say for sure. You definitely have more chances at a regional area :)
