No offense to any other companions, but Clara is the best. Sure Rose is a flower, Donna has a book store named after her, Martha Jones might have the Dow Jones industrial average, but Clara is a hacker. And the doctor probably isn't even a real doctor.
I’m confused, so is her middle name Oswin and her last name Oswald or is it the other way round? Edit: I’m just asking because I got a bit confused while people are using different names in the comments.
@@themoon8321 This version of Clara is just called Oswin Oswald. Victorian Clara is called Clara Oswin Oswald, and Prime Clara is just called Clara Oswald
I have to wonder. Say the Doc wasn't pressed for time. What would he have done with Oswin? She is Dalek, though with the mind of a human. Just figured it would have been interesting to see a few episodes with her as his side kick.
Couldn’t do that. The daleks have always symbolised implacable hatred; the permanent enemy. This was a fantastic interlude and few minutes of unexpected sensitivity but the writers couldn’t destroy the image and existence of the daleks by prolonging this interaction.
Funnily enough, I made a parody comic based on that same idea a while back: www.deviantart.com/zemplintemplar/art/Doctor-Who-Repercussions-of-Souffle-spoof-654070503 :D
Moral of this story. No matter what if you wont let anyone hurt your soul your soul wont get hurt. Even daleks changed her body they couldnt change her mind her soul. Not because she is a genius because she kept reminding herself that she is human she protect her mind her soul. We are stronger if we believe ourself and dont give up. Keep fighting.
Of course, this kind of stuff does take away some of the distinction between the Daleks and and the Cybermen. I would advise the producers to limit these transformations as much as possible and try to maintain the Daleks' determination to exterminate while the Cybermen can commonly both delete and upgrade.
Guess the problem is that it's somewhat been a factor of the Daleks as early as Invasion of Earth, with the robo-men being precursors to the Cybermen in effect. There's always going to be that thread of the Daleks using people over just constant endless destruction and killing. The real distinction I think is down to a problem with the Cybermen more than the Daleks. The Cybermen are supposed to be converting people as a directive born from the need to survive, something that was basically forgotten until World Enough/Doctor Falls. Revelation certainly brought a unique kind of body horror to humans being turned into Daleks that also remained distinct enough from the cyber-conversion process. But to skip this ramble, I do agree that it should be limited, but not done away with altogether. The only true waste of potential is never exploring it.
we're all Daleks who created an imagined reality for ourselves because the truth was just too painful and the moment we collectively realise the universe is in paril.
Actually, Daleks wanted to destroy the asylum to defend themselves from her.. they knew that she could enter in their common program and EXTERMINATE them.. 😰
@@Zaulhunter since daleks cannot truly die only decompose i would rather be transferred to a human body again so i could die naturally. Never ending bleak hell, Tartarus.
I'm sorry can we just think about how since when the Doctor was in front of Dalek Oswin(Clara), she had a dalek voice because then imagine a Dalek voice saying ""Chinny boy"
Doesn't this make Oswin-Dalek an "impure" one? I mean, if the Daleks are meant to be like Space Nazis, you'd expect them to be incredibly hesitant about anything involving "dirtying the bloodline", so why would they make Oswin a full-fledged Dalek? I mean it'd be more reasonable if they instead just sort of turned her into a biological think-tank computer, given that they still needed her genius. Lesser than a Dalek, but also not really human any more. For effect you can stick an eye stalk on it to make it clear that it's a Dalek-esque creature, but it doesn't really make a lot of sense for the Daleks to accept non-Daleks into their ranks in any manner distinctive from slaves like the Puppets or the Robomen. It's just not their m.o. Think about the first Dalek we saw in the new series, it was willing to seppuku itself over its tainted bloodline. Or consider the New Dalek Paradigm's debut, where they killed of the inferior ones born out of Davros's Kaled DNA. The Daleks are ruthless about ethnic cleansing, and the Asylum Daleks, who are apparently unhinged even by Dalek standards, should be even more so. As good as this episode and its twist was, I don't really like this ideological inconsistency in the Daleks.
I can't say anything about the daleks you mentioned as I stopped watching shortly after the tenth doctor 'died' but if we are keeping to the original first daleks then no it makes perfect sense to turn her. Originally the daleks were, at least in appearances, humans that were mutating and they started to put themselves in protective casing until they could find out why they were mutating (this is back in the fifth doctor's time I believe, could be wrong about which doctor it was a long time ago). I don't know about this ethnic cleansing that you mentioned but as far as I can tell that's not staying true to their origin story at all, the daleks were in my opinion a warning of what can happen if survival is put before everything else, the people wanted to survive so davros made them almost indestructible. Also it could be the one willing to kill itself over blood was a little unhinged furthermore the killing of daleks made from davros' DNA makes no sense since all, at least the orginal, daleks were from the same race as him thus largely similar DNA.
Kaleds and Humans and genetically identical, and several times in Dalek's history, they have taken advantage of this fact: whenever they needed to bolster their numbers, wether because the number of pure Daleks were low, or if they just needed rabid canon fodder, they would make a point to take as many human prisoners as possible, then putting them through the same radiation and psychological conditioning that davros did to his people to make them into Daleks (notable examples of this are at least one of their wars with humanity and the time war). That said, you're correct about the Daleks care about purity and Daleks of human origin (DHO's) are considered inferior, not to mention they had a higher insanity rate due to the human in question not being able to cope with the conversion. Also, I'm not sure how genetically speaking, but they can also create Daleks out of Sontarans if humans aren't available (they'd probably make amazing special weapons Daleks, but that's speculation for another time)
I wonder, is Oswin a disembodied human brain in that Dalek chassis or did they alter her brainwaves and stick her bodily in there? Or did they actually biologically alter her genes until she resembled a Dalek squid-brain-thing?
The doctor said he was a bit better today but I'm not going to new house for the day and after the sleepover I was just thinking about it when he was in the morning and he said it was beautiful and beautiful where are you from the shop to get there and I will do it now and I can do the same as well as a treat and I will do my best sister forever darling xxxxxxxx
The look on the doctors face is like Holy # and he stares at her. She doesn’t understand and he said it was a dream but it isn’t though. I still feel back for Clara and it was sad though. Was Clara brainwashed by the Daleks? She seemed self aware though or just the program?! IDK but still sad but awesome though😎
The daleks stuck her in a shell and tried, but her mind built up a defense to maintain her humanity. And since she most likely didnt like the daleks cause of what they did and a dalek can easily kill another dalek, they feared her and locked her up with the other insane daleks. And that has to be the most times I've used dalek in a sentence. Dalek.
the only other scene which made me equally sad was when dr who said to the dutchess he will be right and and pick a star when he came back she was dead and lots of years or few decades were already passed.
