I've seen that many people don't like the 'Pink Pony Club' video because it's not as flashy and colorful as her others, but it's my favorite for the subtleties. When the guy shyly gives her the dollar it always chokes me up. The female biker trying to pretend that she's not into it, And you can see the two guys in the front edging their hands together during the performance until they are holding hands. Love.
the part where she drags herself backwards along the floor is always so mesmerizing to me. she said she originally wanted to be an actress and she's so good at playing into a character in the music videos!
ABSOLUTELY. Pink Pony Club video is all about the small moments leading up to the explosion of love and joy! It’s not her flashiest video but it feels so familiar and comforting to me, and so uplifting.
crying to the pink pony club music video is the queer experience tbh i feel like casual is what happens when she has creative control and an actual budget, so i'm very excited to see where she goes with it next!
every queer react i've seen has them crying at pink pony club (straight creators just bop and say it's catchy, which it is, they're not wrong!) we all in the club crying together😭
pink pony club and hot to go videos as a queer trans man in nowhere Indiana? god I love it. It really encapsulates the way acceptance and community can free you. No matter how small or tiny those communities, they’re life saving. I wouldn’t give my local queers and trans folk for the world
Local communities are life saving! The ONE gay bar we’ve had for a couple decades recently closed down in my hometown and I can’t help but think that we need some sort of new queer space. Like a queer cafe or something. But unfortunately it would probably be defaced and subject to harassment. 😭
The Pink Pony Club single and music video were both released in 2020, which means she was probably 21 years old when they recorded and shot it, in comparison to 26 year old her now (which, as someone who is 39, is still a baby but I digress lolol). Seeing footage from her performing at shows, we’re all currently watching this woman who has really come into her own but that girl in Pink Pony Club has not quite become that woman yet, and idk if it was an intentional choice because it’s meant to represent her before / when she went out to L.A. or if she really did need these 4 years to cook and become who we’re all seeing now, but it’s just a wild contrast.
I saw in a new interview where she said if she was receiving this reaction to her stuff back then that she wouldn’t know how to handle it. She feels like she’s currently in a perfect storm and that she’s finally ready for it. It’s crazy to think that Pink Pony Club is already four years old and I’m JUST finding it. But it does stand the test of time because it fits in with the debut album so well! And the video accomplishes everything she was hoping for.
I didn't realize the cicadas I was hearing were from the background of your video and not at my house until you started talking about it 😄. They've finally started shutting up where I am.
Pink Pony club video makes me cry every time. I remember the first time i went to a gay club after leaving my small rural town. it was absolutely spiritual. The first time i felt like i was somewhere i belonged after spending 24 years feeling like an unwanted outsider.
I feel that especially in the south. There’s a sort of understanding that our small communities are a sanctuary. So in the clubs here there really isn’t any judgement or anything. It feels holy.
At 35 feet high, the fork rises in front of a three-story building occupied by Noble and Associates, a Springfield ad agency. Although no longer the world's tallest -- it was bested by a 37-foot-high fork in Oregon in 2022 -- it remains, at 11,000 pounds, the world's heaviest.
She's the first artist (that I know of!) to give the FULL queer experience, all the way from dealing with the drama of what we're "supposed" to be doing and it not working out, through multiple layers of realizing WHY it wasn't working out, and finally into how queer relationships have their own problems, how it's not just sunshine and rainbows once you figure it out because queer people are still just people. The roller coaster of emotions is shown as a full ride instead of showing the highs and lows as being completely independent of each other
YESSSSS! It’s the entire story! That’s why the album is so good. It’s sonically cohesive and narratively cohesive too! It’s my AOTY. But I think it will probably go to Beyoncé for Cowboy Carter 😅
Also, thank you for your PPC reaction. It helped me make better sense of the video and I really appreciated your perspective. It always makes me cry too xo
I've enjoyed your journey through her content! The Redwine Supernova video is absolutely adorable. Super Graphic Ultra Modern Girl has a fun little visualizer with it as well.
And it’s definitely been a journey! She has so much history and work that I wasn’t aware of. It’s hard to believe she’s been doing this for almost a decade! There are all these hidden videos on her channel lol. They need to hire me to organize her playlists. I will eventually watch them! I’m not sure when at the moment though.
i’ve been enjoying you discover chappell, i wish i could discover her all over again 🥹🥹🥹 chappell has been MY spiritual awakening in feeling more valid and comfortable in my skin and sexuality, her career finally taking off is giving me life. ❤
The amount of times I’ve thought “I wish I could relive that experience” over the years…that’s why I got into reaction content! Watching someone else have their first reaction and sharing your thoughts and feelings is a very special way to connect. Thank you for being here! 💕
I've been saying it for months now, but she is just totally gonna take over the world soon! She's well on her way! Saw her again last week and it was the time of my life! Such a talent, and another great reaction my friend...😊❤️🙏
Thank you! I should have gotten tickets months ago because with her current blowup she’s gotten a little pricey. Considered buying a ticket to her day at Bonnaroo because Manchester is only a couple hours from me. But idk about music festivals. And I’d have to drive like 6-8 hours to see her anywhere else. 😭 Was that the second show you were talking about getting to go to the other week?
@CryoGnuin Well, technically the first time was when she opened for Olivia Rodrigo. She started singing that night and it really blew me and my wife away! We had an amazing time at Olivia, but we were talking about Chappell the whole ride home. Last week was her own tour we went to. Hopefully, you can get something figured out, I'm not big on festivals anymore myself, but you may have to if it's your only shot.
Stop you deserve like 100x more subscribers, you have such a calming but still excited energy Also as a gay swiftie who discovered chappell a couple months ago, your channel is like incredibly relatable 22:56 oh he's got a big storm coming 😭 For me it's the welcome home sign in the bedroom that sets me off every time, it's actually heartbreaking
I’ve edited some of these videos and thought to myself, “Am I being interesting enough? Am I just being boring?” I feel like a lot of other reactors are much more excited than I am lol, but I’m just trying to be as authentic as I can be. So thank you for this comment 😭 Right place, right time! I call that destiny lol. Thank you for being here. 💕
@@CryoGnuin And I love chats & reacts screaming the house down with their Taylor reactions but it's nice to also have a perspective on the music that's more aligned with my experience of it :D
Every single time I watch the Pink Pony Club music video I get emotional lmao. I love the song so much and I honestly think it’s my favorite music video of hers! So simple but so impactful.
YESSSSSSSSS IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS!!!!!! Loved your album reaction and love this! You're so capitvating! also the Casual music vid gets me EVERY TIME💙. The fact that she decorated her room to make it feel more welcoming and then got rejected BROKE ME. Also someone pointed out the fact that the relationship only flourished in the Sirens environment and when the Siren was in control. And the fact that the Siren could live in the Ocean and Land but Chappell could only be on Land or in a Pool not the Ocean. Its got an unwelcoming feeling to it. That the Siren can come see Chappell and be in her space but Chappell had no way to see the Siren or be in her space. Anyway love the vid!! ALSO PLEASEEEEE DO RED WINE SUPERNOVA VID someday it so cute and gay!
Thank you! 💕 AND OH. MY. GOD. I didn’t even think about the siren needing to be in control and how it also symbolizes Chappell never really truly getting to be a part of her world despite trying so hard. The more times I’ve watched it and the more opinions I’ve read just make me love the video even more! 😭 Thank you for bringing that up! It adds a context to the video that I hadn’t thought of. This is definitely the best directed and edited video that she’s released. It’s so captivating, down to the storytelling and sound design. There will be probably be a part two to this eventually (I think) where I’ll look at a couple live performances and get into the videos I missed.
I’ve been sitting on the footage for a couple weeks now so anxious to post it. I’m trying not to become a Chappell reaction channel which is hard because she’s so incredible 😂
I love this! Thank you for doing Chappel. I'm a new fan and I am already so obsessed. I hope you can eventually react to the Red Wine Supernove MV because it is one of my faves. But I agree with you that the Casual MV is absolutely her best music video. It's a visual and narrative masterpiece that makes me cry everytime.
I will eventually come back around to the other videos! I think since she has an EP I’ll react to that at some point and then include the few videos I missed from Midwest Princess with the few videos from the EP after that.
I’m sorry! It wasn’t in her music videos playlist and it says it’s a visualizer. So I just assumed it wasn’t a legitimate music video and was like a lyric video or something. 😅
the super graphic ultra modern girl video also isn't technically a music video, but it's still worth reacting to imo! so that and the other ones you mentioned missing at the end would make a good part 2! But that's also completely fair if you'd rather not make _yet another_ video on her, i get it!
I'm obsessed with her music videos. If you watched any of them on mute, you could still tell what the songs are about/their vibe. And on a shoestring budget! Just great filmmaking to elevate already great songs.
As soon as you said you wanted to react to preachers daughter, I literally jumped out of my seat out of excitement. As one of the newer daughter of Ethel Cain, you are in for a treat…😈
@CryoGnuin it is certainly a complex album, but when I was getting into it, I remember just looking up a guide to it and someone on Reddit did a very helpful and interesting follow through guide! Their name was u/SafetyBoring off the fan subreddit r/Ethelcain. I originally got the idea of getting into the album through watching the Brittney Broski Report podcast segment on it (vid was “Why I left the Christian community/church?” I forgor the vid title 💀) and she said start with Ptolemaea to test if you would be interested in the album, BUT I would just recommend listening to the entire album to save yourself the surprise…( I will admit, the surprise still got me, even after I listened to it before hand). Anyway, enough of me blabbering, I would love to see your reaction to it! 😊 [I also do plan on checking more of your content, but life is trying to get me in a headlock.]
@@Splamenace I feel that last part! Life has been making things difficult for me lately too? Thank you for that information. The Reddit guide is super helpful.
Check the director of Casual/Kink is Karma, Hadley Hillel. Calamity Falls is an incredible short film with a similar vibe. The shot composition is just as exquisite.
I have one of her songs in a playlist for an upcoming video where I listen to artist recommendations who I don’t know yet! If I vibe with her I might! 👀
I haven't found a comment about this yet, but Jolene in "My Kink is Karma" is shorthand for the woman he cheated on her with (a reference to "Jolene" by Dolly Parton)
I figured the reference had to do with Dolly. But I couldn’t find much info on the person the video was about! I’ll have to do some digging later lol. Thank you! I wonder if this was the man she almost married???
I mentioned towards the end in an insert that I didn’t even realize there was a video for it! I just went to the music videos playlist on the channel and it wasn’t in there. I’ll have to come back to it at another time! I’m sorry. :/
Bitch I live in Tennessee too and you ain’t never lied about the cicadas!!!! Also the first thing I thought of when I heard that part in the song because I just started getting into her music a few days ago so the cicadas had already happened 😂
I was thinking about listening to her first EP and then doing the videos she released for it. I have other things I want to get to in the meantime but that will definitely happen!
i think... i think the overall plot to karma is that clownie cheated on chappell with jolene (like the aftermath of the song jolene's plotline) and then the karma vid is when jolene dumps his ass and he self destructs his own life
@@miaschannelforcommenting That makes a lot of sense! When rewatching the video I can see her mouth the words “who is she?” or something to that effect when brandishing her photo at him.
My best guess for My Kink Is Karma is the makeup was her pretending to be upset to feed his ego and make him feel like he's winning... Little does he know...😈
Yeah I got that! That’s why I was speculating on who the “other girl” was and which one of them had cheated 😂 in the context of the video it could have been either of them, or maybe just alluding to her yearning for Jolene instead? I think it’s not as important to the plot of the video overall though. I just get caught up on small details 😅
Right that was my first thought too! But then I noticed she was being thrown out on the curb. And he was the one mad at her over the exchange. And she was begging him to stay. So I’m like ??? Maybe it’s the other way? Maybe she told him she’s into women and that caused this? Idk.
I have seen stills of the videos for Casual and MKIK floating around and I’m glad I waited until I had listened to the whole album first. She’s more than a music artist she’s also so visual and she’s got such a big personality.
