I am just fixing a bit of decorate fences, I have no idea why I thought this would be interesting for anyone else than me. But here you go,, anyway,, a whole video on replacing a piece of wood.
The world will never be the same!!

A hand held butane torch will sear/char the outside of the wood and is amore controlled fire source.

To get the petrol/oil to burn longer, you would have been better to have put sand in the block holes before adding the petrol. It soaks it up and burns properly. But properly should have used creosote or real wood preservative. Would last longer for only a few Euros.

If the fence post has to go into the ground, it should at least be 'tanalised'- pressure treated with preservative. Otherwise you can insert a steel post holder into the ground and then just insert the post into that.

or a concrete pool :-) they are also widely used there...

I have had pretty good luck with using pea gravel instead of concrete or dirt. It drains better, and does not come loose.

Just leant that slightly charred wood does the opposite of biochar(biochar give pest and water an home, slightly charred repels both).

It seems like you overtighten the screws a lot, it will split the wood in two halves over time.
