fuck splice, fuck the clickbait, fuck the same old thumbnails that say “DO THIS” or “YOU’RE DOING THIS WRONG” with a big arrow. I’m 100% with you about how making your own original sounds is the best and most honest approach dude. Keep doing you✅✅✅

its everything at this point. everywhere i look "track from scratch" and then they reach for a sample pack. youre absolutely correct.

It's the same back in the day when eJay come around.. All of us who where making true compositions in mod-trackers where suddenly confronted with: "Oh, you make music? So do you use eJay?" Ehhh, how about NOOOOOO! Hahahah

Surprisingly I haven't run into this issue all too much. Not sure if it's my algorithm or just the way my searches are worded but I pretty much always get directed to videos on synthesizing the sounds I want and seldom find videos on sample manipulation/beat-making without specifically looking for them. That being said I definitely still get advertisements and shorts with that content, usually with a low-effort flavor.

it's weird but i've never run into tutorials like that. all vids i came across when searching how to create drums were actual tutorials on drum synthesis and sometimes how to layer stuff but never about using samples.

1:22 Yes, you COULD go and find a *creator* - but you can also go and learn to *create* (and _become_ the creator you were looking for)

some just do not know the difference between drum synthesis (the technique is pretty old-almost as old as synths) and recorded drum sounds from an acoustic source. Then you get so many people doing content on stuff they have actually no clue what they talking about.

I have the opposite issue lately with tutorials/breakdowns: When I watch some dubstep (yeah, sue me, I like the genre) video, they explain in detail the 20 effects on their main bass - well, that is nice for beginners, but at the end of the day, it's a mix of compression, eq and reverb, I can figure that out myself. What I would like to know is how the arrangement works. What did you think while writing that flow? What kind of rhythm did you have in mind and where did you end up? I feel like, and maybe that is a skill issue on my part, there are barely any good resources for arrangement, chords, melodies etc... Shoutout to that one video about call&response I watched a while back, that was pretty cool. And again, I get this is partially because I am not as naturally talented, but I feel like a lot of tutorials focus way too much on the sound design or I am "too good" at sound design that the tutorials I crave for now just aren't in high demand. Lol this was me venting for no reason
@Alckemy
@Alckemy 13 часов назад
This is totally fair. But the core issue is the misleading title. There are plenty of resources out there on workflow and production though… but the best way is to catch streamers while they are writing
@daviHuggMonster
@daviHuggMonster 13 часов назад
there is actually very little content on arranging or composing, definetly less then just those basic techniques,once you figure out those you don't need 1000 videos about compression or what iconic plugin to enhance your mix. It's because that is the secret many still do not want to share. So best is practice. Alckemy does make nice content tho
@aerrowqueing
@aerrowqueing 11 часов назад
@@Alckemy I agree. But sometimes I would like an explanation. E.g.: You don't write a lot of melodies, I think, but sometimes you do. And when I see that on a stream I ask myself: Is this random? Did you have a melody in mind? Did you have a rhythm in mind? But when watching the stream, I don't get to hear any of the thought process. Because for me, I don't know, I just sometimes know where notes are supposed to go when writing melodies and sometimes I don't. I just find it interesting how other people do it, I guess.
@apoplexiamusic
@apoplexiamusic 11 часов назад
@@aerrowqueingi also have a lot of trouble with melodies and sometimes arrangements. One thing that helps a LOT are tools like the Chord progression generator in FL Studio or Scaler, which can generate harmonious chord progressions based on a melody or scale
@jonathandiaz754
@jonathandiaz754 11 часов назад
I say the same thing. So many tutorials on things that don’t matter. When melody chords rhythms of those two and finally arangment are the most important ever. I find just copying existing melodies and moving them around gives me a good base to start with.

Dude like a year ago i was looking up how to make drums for garage, and the video was literally how to make loops, i asked why the creator named it how to make instead of how to arrange, and the replies were trying to dunk on me saying nobody makes their own stuff and that people who make everything from scratch are wasting there time and it for real turned me off of just watching random tutorial videos

i definitely did not expect a how to make drums with your mouth tutorial lol it's still a cool vid but... did you just low key rick roll us?
@Alckemy
@Alckemy 7 часов назад
Not at all. The point was to be the solution to the problem I complained about. I gave a process using less than ideal sources for someone to take and apply to their genre

This analogy was so overblown back when diplo collabed with splice; the context of it was a hell of a marketing scheme and so many people bought into it
@piqle

this reminds me of the age old copypasta of the goat skin drums, etc. synthesizing drums isn't that hard, but why waste the time doing it when you're just starting out? most tutorials are aimed at beginners; not us nerds synthesizing everything from the ground up because 80% of people searching up tutorials on youtube aren't trying to do that i promise
