I honestly think that Suzuki should've been top 3 for the Selkie. He didn't really have much help defensively and made plenty of good plays. Slafkovsky. Wow. This kid. 6 shots. An assist. Shootout goal and almost 22 minutes. He's 20! I think this guy has so much potential. Every game he continues to suprise me. I'm really starting to question if this guy could be a top 10 NHL player?

Michkov is small. Reinbacher is big. Michkov is a right winger. Reinbacher is right defenseman. Michkov is flashy. Reinbacher is not. What are people trying to compare exactly? We'll have one of the top D core in the league We can sign a top offensive free-agent. Nothing to worry about. Plus we have great chances of drafting Demidov if the teams in front of us go for D or we draft another top pairing D. Whoever we end up picking we can fill the missing spots through trades or free agents. Hughes is a strategist that looks long term instead of trying to make a team like Toronto that fails in the playoffs but sure put on a good show during the season. I prefer we take the time to build a cup winning team.

I doubt we draft Demidov, even if he is available for the same reason you started your comment with. Slaf > Wright. Reinbacher > Mishkov. The might not have gone with the most talented, but intelligence, character, size with the skill. I think Lindstrom is more their desire. Michkov is a good offensive player , but remember Hughes is building a culture in Mtl and it's not necessarily based on just skill level. Attitude is huge , wanting to play for the CH and having the personality of being able to deal with the hardcore media and fanbase , that goes a long way, hence one of the reasons Slavkovsky was chosen over Wright, JMHO

Michkov made it clear that he wanted to play in Philadelphia. If the habs drafted him he may not have terminated his SKA contract. He may not even have signed an entry level contract with the habs. I honestly am not dissapointed with Caufield. I know his production hasn't been there. But after an 82 game season where he probably played with a slight injury and had a down year. He probably isn't playing as he wants to. And I think he's trying to do too much. But I will say. I think he needs time to rest. And this off season. He will transition to a 40 goal scorer like we expected. And Guhle. I think he's exactly like Cam York. I think both are fantastic #2 defenseman but will take time to develop that defensive game before becoming the 40 point two way player. But Guhle. If there was someone you should compare him to. It's Weber. Maybe not that shot. But his physical leadership defense and offense is all a lot like him.

What was Guy Lafleur? Jagr? Kucherov/Stamkos/Point (who last time I checked have 2 Stanley cups)? I can name a bunch more, but for a team that hasn't had a top 10 scorer in almost 40 years, it would have been nice to get an elite forward prospect. P.S.- I get it, they drafted Reinbacher and you have to put the best spin you can on it. Hey they do have those giants Caufield up front and possibly Hutson patrolling the blue line scaring the bejeezus out of forwards. One more thing. The Habs should have picked Mitchkov last year. The defenceman this year are much better than last year. Passing on Mitchkov was a political decision because of Ukraine. The Habs could not pass on Mitchkov and take another forward because the direct comparables wouldn't have made it impossible to justify it, so they went with a d-man, pretexting that it was a necessary move. Also, by picking a d-man, it becomes difficult to compare the two picks throughout their future careers.. The Montreal Canadiens are run by their public relations office and publicity department. They want to sell beer.

@@fritzthecatdz7dv We haven't had an elite forward since..🤔 Well it has been so long that people in Montreal don't even know how it is to have a dominant goal scorer on the team. Every team has one and in some instances two or three. Been looking at the league's top scorer list: Suzuki is 32nd and Caufield is 76th.. To give you a comparison, within the first 75 players in the list: Vancouver has 4 players (three of them before Suzuki), Colorado same thing, Ottawa 4 player, NY Rangers 4 etc etc etc . The Habs recruiters have been so bad the last 10 years that even though we are "finishing" the rebuild, we have no stars on the team. I love Nick Suzuki, he's a great guy and hockey player, but on any contending hockey team, he'd be playing on the second trio. This is how bad it is, and it's been like this for so long that Habs fans have assimilated this as being normal... Well it's not. We deserve a star, a real star, a game changing star.. not a second pair defenceman with a good attitude. P.S. Suzuki wasn't even recruited by the Habs, we got him through an exchange, meaning that our best recruited forward is Caufield at 76th place. This sucks so much that it is not even believable.

Sochi this season equaled the record for goals against not only ever recorded by Sochi themselves but in the whole history of the KHL by any team. When was that initial record ever set you ask ?
