I like how Ted’s is a fun little adventure across North America, and Eddy’s is a psychological horror about a man slowly descending into madness

It somehow seems so fitting that the single best meal Eddy had was at the only Rainforest Café that’s 1) privately owned 2) not in the United States

It feels weird rewatching this, now knowing the malicious spirit of Jimmy Buffet was looming in the background.

So in the bathrooms, the murals look painted and not like wallpaper or whatever, and they look very similar in style which leads me to believe that a long time ago one sad mural artist had a similar experience traveling across these United States to paint every rainforest cafe bathroom in the country

It must’ve been depressing walking by a Cheesecake Factory only to turn the other direction and go to Rainforest Cafe for the 4th time

I lost it at the moment Eddie’s friend asked does this happen everytime? And Eddie immediately responds “it happens every 20 mins”. All I could think was Eddie’s truly declining into a the madness of a professional rainforest cafe customer.

I love how Ted is having the time of his life while Eddy looks like he's gone through two tours through Vietnam and his third divorce.

the fact that i’ve spent 30 minutes watching a guy go insane only to go to teds channel to watch another 30 minutes of a guy enjoying himself touring the country with a guy going insane next to him is so funny

I've now watched this video 3 times in the last year. Whenever I'm feeling down, I know I can turn to this and I'll immediately smile, nod, and think, "At least I'm not in a rainforest cafe."

Absolutely losing it at Eddy's slow descent into madness juxtaposed with Ted's unfailing chipper attitude. It's like live action Pinkie and the Brain. Delightful.

Downtown Disney has a separate restaurant called T Rex Cafe which is also owned by the same parent company and is basically identical to Rainforest except it's dinosaur themed. I think this counts as a Rainforest Cafe and you should go back and eat there, too

Seeing how this trip absolutely destroyed Eddy’s mental and physical health, there’s no way he’ll do this again with another restaurant chain…..right?

I just want you guys to know that I watched this video when it first came out and promptly forgot about it, but it didn't forget me... I recently had a vivid dream about going to the Rainforest Cafe with my family and I had to ask my dad if we ever went and the answer was a weird look and a resounding No. I have never been to the Rainforest Cafe, but because of this video, it has burrowed into my brain and lives there now

Back to watch this again after the Margaritaville edition. I'm pleased to see that Canada has exceeded expectations two years running.

I love how for Ted the trip was like a religious pilgrimage, but Eddie basically just had a three week long mental breakdown.

I'd like to imagine a small B plot to this storyline, involving a traveling corporate training manager who went on a similar trip coincidentally at the same time. They arrive at each location to check up on things and make sure quality is good. Then they slowly get more and more paranoid that they're being followed by you two. It finally comes to an end at the last location when just as they're rushing to leave in order to avoid you guys, they spot you in the parking lot and have a mental breakdown.

imagine living in Michigan and getting excited for you to absolutely destroy the one in Great Lakes and it's relegated to "We went to Michigan and then we left." 😢

I feel Eddy is gonna walk into a mall 8 years from now, see a Rainforest Cafe, and completely snap.

I love the difference between Eddy’s horror intro and just how awful it was… and then there’s Ted who’s video shows just pure nostalgia and bliss

The energy of him and ted is like a guy who’s brought effervescent joy by driving speedboats and a guy rapidly discovering his debilitating fear of large bodies of water

I like how this is essentially watching one man's descent into madness, but it's Also just like a 2-week sample of the employees' lives

The more Eddy suffers, the more powerful Ted becomes. We need his side of the story where he describes it as the best 3 weeks of his life.

As a native Houstonian, congratulations Eddy on being the first person to ever enjoy Galveston. People talk more smack on that poor little island than any other place in the state, lol.

Why? Why every 5 months does this video call to my phyche like the Siren's song to a sailor too long at sea? I've watched not only the Rainforest café, but now also the Margaritaville videos 3 nay 4 times each! And yet they call to me hauntingly through the algorithm, sweetly like the memory of a past lover.

Thank you for living out my ill-gotten dreams. For many years as a child I’ve walked by the Rainforest Cafe in Gurnee Mills mall longing for the day I would experience a dining experience in a jungle-like setting. But alas, my dreams were stopped short by a consistent “There’s food at home”, as I was whisked away to go home to my usual dried fish and rice dinner. Although from the looks of it I wasn’t missing much, your documentation of your Rainforest Cafe visits has cured my childhood trauma of never visiting one. My soul is lifted. You are a blessing.

My bf became obsessed with this video when it came out, so I decided to surprise him with a visit to the rain forest cafe in Disney springs when he came to visit me (we’re long distance) and it’s probably one of the best dates we ever had And YES, it WAS an awful experience

I don’t think I realized how “American” the mall of America is. Like, on summer break from school people will take their families on trips to VISIT a MALL. That’s so consumerist and it never registered to me, I was always really excited to go as a kid 😂

I half expect Ted to just one day, be like “There’s this new restaurant we’ve never been to, let’s go!” And then start driving towards Rainforest Cafe, and Eddy just panicking as he recognizes the road.

When Ted was a kid his parents would take him to rainforest cafe every year, at his request. After the divorce, it never really happened again. He went about his life with this rainforest cafe sized hole in his heart, he needed closure, and he wanted his best friend there with him. So, while eddy suffered for most of the trip, Ted was revisiting old friends, Ted was saying good bye. God bless you, Ted.

i love the occasional scenes of ted running around in the distance like a little kid, which is really funny to me for some reason

i love rainforest cafe. i just wish they actually drenched you in water when the thunderstorms happen. it would make for a more realistic dining experience.

my favorite thing about the Disney Springs rainforest Cafe is it's like a 2 min walk from t-rex Cafe, which is literally the same concept but with Dinosaurs. Instead of a thunder storm every 20 minutes it's a meteor shower.

Watching this one after the sequel, I completely understand how insane it was to do this again. Hats off my man!

At Disney Springs in Orlando, there’s another restaurant, the T-Rex Cafe, owned and operated by the same company that does Rainforest Cafe. It’s basically the same thing except Dinosaur-themed. Instead of a thunderstorm, there’s an astroid strike every 20 minutes, with all the dinosaur and mammoth animatronics losing their shit constantly. Used to really scare the crap out of me as a kid

Me - "Oh man, Can't wait to hear what Eddy Burback thinks about my great state of Michigan and what hijinks he gets up to in the only Rainforest Cafe I've ever visited!" Eddy - "We drove into Michigan, ate at Rainforest cafe, we drove some more" Me (tears) - "He really gets the nuances of Michigan culture."

I watch the rainforest cafe and Margaritaville videos from Eddy and Ted like at least once a month idk why it’s such great background noise and easy to follow.

The staff at the one that used to be local to us kicked my (8yrs old at the time) little sister out of the restaurant bc the birthday party she was attending ended early. She went and found my mom after wandering the mall for luke an hour, and my mom went nuclear on the RC staff for kicking a literal child out so they could turn the room over early. They ended up offering us a meal on the house for our whole family if we didnt sue. We ordered like 1k worth of food, and ate leftovers for a week.

Very few content creators can make videos about eating at the same restaurant this entertaining

These trips are always just a showcase of the duality of man

I think rainforest cafes really capture a certain aspect of growing up where all of a sudden a place that seemed so magical turns into a rundown sad fishless fish tank of an experience. It’s such a weird feeling to think back on all the times you went to the mall and it was just slowly falling into disrepair more and more each time you visited and you didn’t really notice it until it was too late. Also the sign in front of the Ontario location used to have like a waterfall feature which was pretty cool

I remember eating at the Chicago one a couple times as a kid because my mom worked near there. This video was a huge wave of nostalgia lol.

for my 6th birthday i was taken to a rainforest cafe. it was in london. they made me stand on a chair to sing happy birthday to me and it, to this day, is one of the first instances i can remember of me not only freaking out because of heights, but also because of intense social anxiety. I was sat next to a frog tho, that was cool

I loved this video! I used to always want to go to the Rainforest Café in Burlington, MA, but I inevitably would be terrified of the thunderstorms. Tracy Tree became a sort of psycopomp for me, on my perilous journey to Just Okay food and Questionable-At-Best animatronics.

I went to the Rainforst Cafe often as a kid because I grew up in Houston and Galveston was a common summer day-trip for us. I never knew how good I had it with that location being the one I always went to.

I just love knowing that while Eddy got to spend time with his girlfriend half way through the trip, the crushing reality of the continuation of the trip dawns on him and ruins any happiness that moment might have created. :D

Now we need a Rainforest Cafe tier list Locations, menu items, animatronics, doesn't matter what - you are now the most knowledgeable person on Rainforest Cafes in the world and it would be a tragedy to let that go to waste

i went to the rainforest cafe in my hometown in arizona once as a child and it has instilled so much fear in me that now, as an 18 year old, i am utterly terrified of rainforest cafe and refuse to step foot in another one
