I've been a Restaurant Manager for over 20 years. If someone got raw chicken served to them I would have done way more than just take that item off the check. I hope that they did something off camera for you. Thanks for the video Catherine and Derek. There are plenty of places to spend $200 at. I will go elsewhere
The fact that chicken was cooked, sliced and sent through the pass without anybody having any quality control is a massive red flag. The place didnt even look busy. Im certain I wont be giving this a shot.
For comparison, we had two "incidents" at STK. The first was when I ordered by steak medium rare and it arrived medium to medium well. I brought this to the server's attention and they took it back, made me another and the chef came out to ask me to inspect it to see if it was done to my liking. The second time it was perfect. They offered to give us free dessert but we were too full. The next "incident" was I had dinner with my brother and he wasn't feeling a bit tipsy because we had a few to drink at the lounge. At the end of the meal, I went to the men's room and when I came back the host and the server were at our table. They had noticed that my brother didn't enjoy his meal as much as they had hoped and had asked him if there was something wrong with his dish. That's the kind of service one would expect at the higher but not upper end of restaurants in Vegas. Genting should have been at least one or two notches above STK. It clearly wasn't.
At those prices I'm not sure it would have been worth it if everything had been perfect, but certainly not after being served raw chicken. That's enough to make you question everything else they serve you no matter how good it is.
No way he should have paid for his meal. That chicken was so raw it could have walked off the plate!!. Did they even apologize?? Shame on this restaurant !
And here's the kicker...the restaurant did not look busy...no excuse for raw chicken...I so wish Gordon Ramsey would drop a comment...nobody knows how to better rip someone a new a$$-hole better than Chef Ramsey. "You %#*$#ing donkey!" 🤣😂
I could hear at one point the, I think, chef was yelling at his cooks in the background because Derrick's eyes shifted to his right towards the sound. Probably made him uncomfortable.
That chicken was 100% raw, although the restaurant is the most expensive Asian restaurant… The cool and management failed here. My meal would have been comped period
Yeah, presumably this is one of those things they will work out in time. Went to a place that had just opened up once and will never do it again. While our food was okay it took them over two hours to get it to us as they had lost the order somehow. Opening week issues may be normal but they aren't something I wish to subject myself too.
@@JimmyVRU-vid I wasn't sure where it was coming from. Thought it might be some other customer who had a bit much to drink as I would have expected the kitchen to be separate enough that the customers wouldn't hear the kitchen staff even if they got loud.
It's not just a cook but an expeditor sent it AND a runner took it. Multiple sets of eyes and they ALL failed. That's extremely poor especially for a new establishment.
Sashimi chicken is supposed to look like that, my issue is that the server did not explain this upfront seeing this was a Caucasian couple. That said no way would I eat that dish in this country ...
@@doobygelman5454 each state adopts, at minimum, FDA food code. Under Nevada Food Cood 446.164 - poultry is clearly defined with internal cooking temps needing to reach 165 for 15 seconds. Any deviation from this would require a variance which I highly doubt any health department would ever grant. Undercooked poultry can give a customer foodborne illness and is a major health code violation.

@@michaelkensington2494 The Big problem was knowing that some cuisines do serve rare chicken coupled with trusting Gensing. Derek trusted even if for only a moment Gensing's professionalism incorrectly. The Chef didn't come out and say "that's how I intended this dish to be served and that it was specially raised chicken that could be consumed that way." What I saw was a kitchen explode with anger when the dish was returned and a waiter simply say 'they are preparing a new dish" it was obvious it shouldn't have been served that way and some apologies should have been made. I managed a restaurant 20 years ago and we served a pork tenderloin slightly above med rare, chef's choice. It was explained at the table, allowed for a alternate temperature choice and was confident that it was safe to eat. Mistakes happen in new kitchens but there were a few stop gaps that failed and the dish made it to the table. We didn't see or hear about any sort of apology, and we saw a very large check at the end of the vlog. So we can assume the front of the house also failed to do its job correctly.
@@B2BRestaurantReviews yes! Being a former kitchen manager, he would have been gone, as would have the person who sent it from the kitchen. A Gordon Ramsey moment there. They sliced the chicken, it was raw. There is some bad business going on there.
@@B2BRestaurantReviews actually yes i do. There are many steps taken in a kitchen to make sure this does not happen. Apparently this restaurant is not doing the proper checks. It was even sliced and had to pass the Chef and the expediters window to get out to the customer. In a brand new restaurant this is definitely not the norm. Someone needs to go

Maybe waiter grabbed it before expediter checked it or countless other Scenarios ….Did it happen to multiple people or was it a one time incident? One time only incident a firm reprimand and if it happens again sure maybe terminate but mistakes happen even at the top end restaurants(of course they shouldn’t).
I was really enjoying the review until the undercooked orange chicken. A high end restaurant like this should have comped your meal. Mistakes happen but whoever sliced it should have noticed how under cooked it was. That is not acceptable. Hope you didn't get sick Derrick. Thank you for taking one for the team!
Yeah...the most expensive and they served you raw chicken. They should’ve comped your entire meal for that and the manager should’ve been over there in one hot minute apologizing to the fullest. But, if that’s how they treat guests in Vegas, I’ll pass.
I can only assume that it’s meant to be cooked and served half raw, and there may have been a language barrier between Derek and the server. The server sees a potentially unhappy customer with a bunch of cameras, and they go ahead and remake it the American way. I’m going to assume there wasn’t an oversight that big.

They should have comped your meal. Undercooked chicken is extremely scary, and that's an amateur mistake. If they are going to ask those prices, your meal should be cooked to perfection at the very least. I know mistakes happen, but they even sliced it and still sent it out.
I agree. And a fine establishment should never wait for a customer to ask for a comp. They should assume that while nothing catastrophic is likely to happen to those who ate it, there is still very much a possibility that they will have cramps and spend wasted time in the bathroom. Comping would be the very least they should do. And quite frankly, a freakin explanation. Why was it like that? New chef? Did anyone get fired? OMG that will never happen again? Nope, just yeah we'll make you another one.

Lol thats what they do, to check out any resto new or not to share their experience. And it served the purpose of showing the imperfections of these highend restaurants together with the goodstuffs.
Not sure. I tried the Ting Tai Feng in LV but the XiaoLong bao is not as good as the ones Tin Tai Feng in Asian. I guess it has to do with the ingredients.
@@chookchack Checking out new places is a good way to keep the channel fresh. My only issue is that the raw chicken issue likely won't happen again. Same goes for any other issues that are found in these first couple of weeks as they work out any bugs in their process. So the experience someone gets a month from now should be worlds better.
@@nanoflower1 raw chicken is not something to be taken for granted tho. But hey, we are all human and bound to make mistakes and its not like the resto is michellin rated or something.
The tofu and fried noodles looked delicious. I would really like to know the, behind the scenes, information. You two should make another video of what happened off camera to compliment this video. Hats off to you both for handling it so politely.
For being the most expensive restaurant in the place the noise level (yelling and clattering dishes) was reminiscent of the Circus Circus buffet. But then, Vegas restaurants tend to be noisy, I guess. Think I'll pass.
This review was a little painful to watch ~ Don't get me wrong, you both are amazing and we all greatly appreciate all you do but collectively it appears this is one restaurant you will not be returning to the future ~ We look forward to your next adventure!
I’m not a Karen but I’d back out after being served raw chicken. I love rare steak but the thought of raw chicken just makes me queasy. No excuse to serve that in such a fine restaurant or really anywhere.
I have a question. What was the verdict of that ORANGE CHICKEN? If undercooked, did the manager come over and apologize? Did they give you a discount or just comp the meal? Why do I have such questions? Here come the answer. For an average restaurant, The server will remake the order and apologize. For a better run restaurant, the manager will apologize, a new orange chicken will be made and comped. For a restaurant like this, the manager will sincerely apologize and comp the meal. And hopefully it wont pop up on you tube. Obviously, the manager did not do his/her job. TRUMP will say: YOU ARE FIRED!!!!!!!!!

The duck had a ducky flavor...the seafood tasted like it came from the sea ..the lamb was like it fell off the bone if it had a bone...I would have been the on the floor laughing...great show guys
WHEN you pay Sky high prices for undercooked Chicken tells you the quality is lacking and the cooks are INEPT. Wouldnt eat there if the meal was Free !!!!!

The chicken was definitely not cooked enough. The only dish that Derek enjoyed was the tofu. Could have gone to any Chinese restaurant and got better food for a fraction of the price. Kudos to the both of you for handling this terrible experience with class.
This restaurant serves such ordinary Chinese Cantonese cuisine that you can find much better options in nearby Chinatown on Spring Mountain at a quarter of the price.
That was totally unacceptable. My nephew in his little chop-chop to go in Georgia would die before he would serve anything like that to his diners. Those guys were too kind, they should have demanded some kind of comp for that. I hope he didn't get some kind of food poisoning.
Very nicely done. Always hard when things fail to meet expectations, and you both are very professional with your reviews. It is obvious you don't want to hurt any businesses, and are more into sharing the best experiences, while ignoring or even downplaying that which fails to impress. Have watched several of your videos, but you have gained another loyal subscriber here. Maybe our paths can cross in Vegas one day! We travel there several times throughout the year!
So much more agreeable to have a restaurant with soft, ambient music instead of the loud,obnoxious music in all too many Las Vegas buffets. This place did it just right and for me that improved the dining experience massively
That chicken looked disgusting. How could a place that charges so much skimp on quality. Resorts World seems to be over priced for no reason even for Vegas standards. I feel people will stop going there once the novelty wears off. I was in Vegas last week and was drawn to go in after watching the reviews. There is nothing special about this place, It looked so much better in the renders.
Underwhelming. For the price definitely not worth what you got. However, I understand it’s Vegas, but honestly the food at Blossom at aria is better than this looks.
Derek, you definitely took one for the team with that Chicken, my wife and I were screaming “Don’t eat it”, but I think your positive attitude enabled/forced you to take that first bite. I think you should have had a free meal but you kept it classy, at least on your part.

Catherine is beautiful as usual! Always refuse sashimi style chicken! I love journeys with you! I just do not think this high end restaurant gave a real high end experience with chilled towels and ice burg lettuce in their cuisine. Happy 4th of July! Seems like it. Like the various abalone dishes felt like an attempt to one up the previous dish. I'm sure I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the various abalone from different regions of the world.

Interesting vlog, and I really appreciate your honesty about things ie: Xtra chopsticks, chicken dish, no need for sauces. But other than the crab claw and pork hock slices there wasn't anything you couldn't get at any Chinese restaurant - and at a much better price! So far none of the food outlets at RW appeal to me.

After seeing that chicken they should have comped the meal. Under cooked chicken is dangerous I hope you are ok. It can take 3 days before you get sick.
These hotel restaurants on the strip are getting too pricey. The only patrons who can afford these prices are high rollers. I'll stick to the buffets and hit China town for ACE Korean BBQ. I.e 888 ACE Korean BBQ.
This video is almost how Derrick was at Gordon Ramsay's Steakhouse when that steak didn't taste good LOL. Derrick being a chicken connoisseur knew that orange chicken wasn't right, for $233 you would think they could cook chicken correctly. Other than that I hoped u grabbed a burger to fill u up LOL, love u guys!!
