I applaud her as well, and as someone with an Asperger's diagnosis, was 35 when I got my clinicians diagnosis, and finally a better understanding and acceptance of myself, that my own highly developed sense of self awareness could not provide. I'm wanting to do these kind of videos to break stigmas, and provide acceptance as well as awareness. Sweet Anita if you ever was interested in a conversation with someone on the spectrum (ASD) who struggles with "social appropriateness" when I say , "Bitches love that" in response to anything my brain is trying to process but I can't verbalize my exact thoughts and do my own kind of ticks....I know whistle and do the bubble pop sound and it soothes in such a way I related to when I have to self stim)scratch my head when I'm anxious

What she was saying towards the end of the video, about how her brain is basically firing, and being able to sit in a isolated area and being able to explore and experiment with different aspects of her ticks the way she was. There’s probably a lot to be said about that for future studies regarding the condition!!. Personally I find Tourette’s syndrome quite fascinating honestly!. The brain is just sooo complex and complicated that it’s a wonder how we all don’t have Tourette’s syndrome quite frankly!!! 😯🤷🏻‍♂️😏

This is very interesting. I have ADHD and it's also tied to Dopamine, but the lack there of, and it really affects my motivation and the ability to start or do things my ADHD brain, who I call Carl, doesn't want to do. What you said about how resisting doing what your brain wants is painful... That is similar to what happens if I try to force myself to do things that Carl doesn't want to. First, I become more distracted by everything else to the point I can space out, essentially paralyzed, while Carl thinks about everything except what I want to do, sometimes up to 3 things at once. If I brute force willpower my way to do the thing, it's physically and emotionally very painful and extremely frustrating and exhausting. I want to do the thing, but Carl says no. I can relate kind of in a weird opposite way. This really made me think about this. I wondered if ADHD and Tourettes were related in some way because sometimes the brain does what the brain wants and it's out of our control. They kind of are, I guess, in a backwards kind of way. Antidepressants often makes ADHD worse and it's usually treated with simulants to increase dopamine. This was very interesting and educational. Thank you.

I imagine standing in a room. Like someone says "A" and your in this room with every "A" word written on little pieces of paper and your standing on a pile of them because they are all on the ground. You are looking for "Apple" but the pieces of paper aren't in filing cabinets like they should be, so your brain tries to find "Apple" so you bend down and grab the first "A" paper you find and that is the word that comes out. So the word "Apple" is somewhere in that mess, but it is amidst every other word.
@Eric-ef5qm
@Eric-ef5qm 3 года назад
I am guessing this is why "Z" wasn't a trigger for Anita. Because Z words are uncommon. I could only quickly think of zebra or zoo but struggled to come up with more z words in a couple of seconds. So using your metaphor there would only be couple of papers to sort through in this word association and finding the correct paper was easy.

I can totally relate with you. I have this awful tic in my neck that is triggered by pain... I have fibromyalgia so I'm always in pain, thus always have the tic... its like you can suppress the tic for a bit, but the longer you suppress it, the more pressure builds until it feels like you're gonna burst! Then you tic a lot harder than if you would have just let it out when it occurred. Stay strong my friend!

Uhh.....shit.....I've been doing this for a while now, and its only recently I've noticed random "spasms" for absolutely no reason because it keeps getting mentioned by my partner who never mentioned it because she assumed I was aware and just didn't care (I don't, but still, she says its worrying) I'll be sat there minding my own business and bam! Random shoulder throw or my forearm shoots out (rare one) or I torque my neck like cracking my neck but quicker (most frequent one) or my lip starts twitching and curling (also frequent). I literally only verbally tic when it comes to fart noises, no idea why and i despise it as it makes me look really immature, but its something else that was mentioned to me that I never noticed was a frequent thing until now. But before the spasms or tics or whatever this is there's always this weird build pressure build up like a stress thing that triggers it. As soon as its done however that disappears for a short while. Its only after watching videos like this and hearing peoples accounts like yours that I've come to the realisation something might be wrong as up until now I've never looked into tics or this particular neurological syndrome in general. I've also cone to he realisation that this could possibly be why people act.....odd around me. They see these things as odd but I've done it for so long now i just kind of shut it out to the point of not realising I'm doing it. But since its been brought up in conversation I'm now *acutely aware* of it going on. Its only now after reading this and seeing videos of actual physical tics (I always assumed tics were purely verbal) that I realise that its not a normal thing to have happen and I should probably see a doctor, so....thanks. I think? 😃😐 And apologies if a lot of what I said doesn't track, I'm trying to get across a million and one different feelings, mostly gratitude, for what I had just read and watched. There may be hope yet.

now u know how to content farm, make people feel bad about u so they donate and how to simp. so stupid actually. all the people who are constantly defending and victimizing her are making her condition worse. if u people would actually care about her u would understand that. the sad truth is half of her viewers are simps or emphatic people who feel bad about her and think they did a good deed by donating. yeah sure. at this point shee can say anything she wants and blame it on tourestes and no1 would be able to know the difference. just because people constantly defend and victimize her and at this point she probably also victimize herself. I mean why wouldn't she. it makes her money. or bullshit like oh her stream is making her do it...lmao she could turn it off anytime but why would she when it such a good content farm with her "condition". well all have thoughts but only she have ticks ok sure. her ability to control thought is inconsistent, especially when it comes to simping. people have no idea how popular playing victim is. or all the false accusations that happened in the last few months. there are real victims who need hep...but there are also people who play victims.

It's worth note somewhere that a complex brain is an expensive organ to keep up. It's why predators tend to be more intelligent than herbivores... Proteins are on an order of 10 times the energy value in relation to vegetation, and so the carnivorous diet can power a higher complexity brain... SO apparently, from her explanation of how the tic's work, it's a hyper-activity in her brain (theoretically)... Like how she talked about looking to access things only related to A or apple, but the Tourettes just runs around crashing into everything related to A... "I'm trying for a straight line of thought, and instead of that, my brain just sends the electricity everywhere." SO it WOULD be exhausting to trigger so many tic's in rapid succession like that, and she literally needs to take a minute and let it all settle down... catch her breath. The brain can't just run on glucose alone. It also NEEDS oxygen... ;o)

@@Dualities You do have to consider that whatever's on RU-vid are _highlights_ from Twitch, and/or random videos like this one. And since Tourette's plays a huge part of her life, I'm not surprised that theres a focus on it. I don't think it's too much, especially since there _is_ an audience for it, and people with Tourette's and other disorders can look up to her and understand that it's not impossible to get somewhere in life even with severe restrictions. And with the whole simping thing, from what I've found, part of it is her humor, and the other part of it is that this type of behavior is how she'd been treated throughout her life, so of course that facet is going to leak into one content one way or another. I'm not saying that you don't have any points, but I really don't think that she's trying to fake Tourette's for views. Especially since she was abused by her own household for it and wasn't diagnosed until mid- late-twenties-and her childhood probably why her particular case is to the extreme that it is. Anthony Padilla did a video on it.

I would love to see the similarities with Tourettes, OCD and ADHD. I know they can come together. They all have the intrusive aspect to them, like adhd seems like tourettes but inside the brain (I'm not a scientist so tell me off if I'm wrong) and ocd is similar to her describing the SAY IT NOW thing
@brie8707
@brie8707 2 года назад
I was literally looking to see if anybody else compared it to OCD. How she describes it feels just like my OCD, except I'm in control of my physical reaction. The fear might overrule that control, but it's not a tic.

ADHD is more of a easily distraction to me it is, I can be focused on one thing and loose it in an instant,I also can’t sit or stand stand still, I would pace around the house and shake my leg or tap my fingers. ADHD is annoying to deal with, and no I’m not on meds cause it’s not on the spectrum of severe it’s mostly involuntary things that I do that triggers it. Another thing is that I can focus like really focus on something and not loose idk my ADHD is weird. But if there’s a challenge that’s similar to these but meant for people who have ADHD I would love to see Edit: I also have a probelm fidgeting with somethings
@Gal2100
@Gal2100 2 года назад
@@Chris09978 that focus thing is called hyperfocus with adhd, I myself think I could have it so fully focused on stuff is hyperfocus, a particular part of adhd and you would have the inattentive (the focus and forgetfullness) and hyperactivity (can't stand still and tapping etc) combo

Funny you mention this, I was just telling someone how I have a lot of the behaviors that Anita does, but I don't have Tourette Syndrome. I have a brain injury, however, and the impulsiveness, cursing, and making funny sounds are all things that I do! Her videos help me feel better about my condition.

You know, an observation like that almost makes me think there is more of a power sink on the word she wants to say, but an overload on all things associated...

@@sbritton1313 as someone with tourettes almost as severe as hers I can kind of agree, when I was going through this video my tics were doing the same thing her's were and sometimes they would try and tic more than one word at the same time and it felt super weird. But at thr same time I could tic something without even having the slightest thought of the thing I said and it completely takes me by shock. Tourette's is super weird

I didn't realize that the "Tourette voice" seems to have a will of it's own. I thought it was probably rough for you to be around people who might judge you for your ticks. But that there is also a struggle inside you in addition to that... That's really rough Thanks for sharing all your thoughts ☺️ I'm sure you're helping a lot of people by being so open about what you're dealing with. That takes real courage!

that is why she laughs at many of the things she says, she has said before often with the ticks she has no idea what she is going to say, and a lot of times it is just funny, so it makes her laugh also.
