Been watching you for years since the MA videos. Joining the Coast Guard this Summer and have been working towards preparing for this test and crushing it so far. Keep up the great content
Coast Guard Veteran here. Cool video. What I remember from Boot Camp is that while those quals were easy for most of my shipmates (pre-Internet) it was swimming that got people. I was a surfer so no biggie for me but if you’re joining a maritime service, you should be a decent swimmer.
Something a lot of people don't seem to understand is this: to most in the military, they respect and acknowledge the CG as a branch -- they just make fun of them and pick on them, just like all of the branches do to one another. It's all in good brotherly fun. The Coasties are just a little more special ;)
That would kill most men. They have an 80% wash out rate for a reason. It’s 6 months of non stop training from sunrise to sunset Monday-Friday, which weekends being class work.
@@Stefkokefko It’s positive! Romans 10:9-10 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.✝️ Jesus saves ✝️
Now you need to attempt the physical fitness test for aviation survival technician’s (aka Coast Guard rescue swimmer)… when going through that school that test like an easy workout compared to the rest of near drowning experiences you receive everyday in the pool.
That’s quite cool, so far we’ve only had the Marine Corps, Army, Navy, and Air Force come out, and I plan to enlist in the Marine Corps after high school. Oorah!
Small world. I served with Denim for quite a while at USCG PSU 312 as part of the DSF. He’s a good dude. Completed several triathlons and always was a stellar shipmate.
Go on the coast guard water stuff. I think people will think again. Seeing them do cliff and water boat capsizing rescues in rocky water especially in the Pacific Ocean. It’s incredible. Heroes!
Hey! I’m French at the 3rd RPIMa (paratrooper) . Why dont you Try our annual physical test 👌🏻 first do 50 push-up but every time your chest is on the ground you take off your hands from it. After do 40 situp. Last but not least : the « 8 km TAP » . Run 8 km with your uniform, your boots and a backpack who weighs 11 kg , you have to do it under 45minutes. Hope you will read my text . You do a great job . From France 🇫🇷👌🏻
My dad served 35 years in the CG. Retired AMTC, now he works as a civvy for them. I spent lots of my time kicking it with those guys and spending time on various bases when I was a kid.
It‘s so much fun to watch Austen smile through the whole time he‘s working on the pullup-bar. You‘re a beast, it‘s impressive. Best wishes from Germany :-)
My late father was a chief petty officer in the coast guard from early 70s till around mid 80s he loved being a coastie. Served on the uscgc mellon and vigorous
After working with MSRON and some of the coasties there, I actually wish I would have joined the coast guard instead of the navy. They do some sick stuff
Man i wish the mile and a half time was 13:36 for my age group. Im killing myself to meet the 12:51 time limit, but I'm committed to being a coastie dammit!
Ive been really thinking hard about the coast guard! And i plan to talk to a recruiter coming October sometime, but ive been trying to train myslef on everyhing to be in better physical condition, i will admit the running is my hardest issue and i feel like that keeps holding me back. Ive definitely gotten better at push-ups tho 😅.
Yeah, but it still needs to be bigger, better and more powerful. They should be the operators of homeland air defense on the water, homeland defense from subs, and the main Artic force. They need more money and better equipment as well as ships etc. They should also have more access to autonomis mini subs for easier ways to stop drug/people smuggling. All in all, I think the government is the reason people don’t think highly of the coast guard(and merchant mariners).
I work with Naval & Coast Guard ships and any time I need info whether it be blue prints or general information about the tack sections or anything from the Navy members....they are clueless. Not all, but 95% of them 😅 Any time I ask Coast Guard members, they always know what I need and where to get it. Their ships are incredibly well organized.
This actually helped me at least try to prepare myself and what I can try to expect on what will happen when I join the coast guard. As a kid I was not great in gym class and I’ll be honest I’m not exactly fit myself today. But this vid helped me see what I can expect and practice at home! Thanks for doing this vid guys! Really helped with people who wanna join the guard and seeing what they will expect and practice at home!
I though this video was going to be you running on a treadmill with a TV attached watching an episode of Murry saying "You are NOT the father" Come on now we all know what the Airforce...err sorry sorry Coast Guard is :)
