I'll try to help, the stage separators need some space between itself and the fuel tank above it, in that space you can put engines, creating a stage, usually the first is the most powerful and the second is a bit less powerful, twr (thrust weight ratio tells you that) . Fairings are for pailoads and there are different engines, the titan(the biggest) and others, the titan and hawk are for atmosphere flight, while the rest are for facuum or objects with a small atmosphere (except ion engines they can berely lift they're weght) hope this clears up some confusion, there are some basic rockets and tutorials if you need them in game.

put hawk engine then put small but tall fuel tank and seperator at top after that you put a capsule with heat shield and parashute click engine to start and go up outside atmosphere and when back in atmosphere seperate /click/ the seperator and point the heat shield agains the atmosphere when thats done and if your under 2000 M click on the parashute. JUST DO AN TUTORIAL IN RU-vid
