FYI, in a handful of states now, jaywalking is no longer an illegal thing. CA will also join the movement starting Jan next year. A police can no longer write you a ticket if you cross the street with safety precaution. The term jaywalk is also created by the auto sector to discourage people from walking on the road alongside with cars and to make motor vehicles move way faster.
