Hey guys it’s Kae and Livy ❤️‼️ I’m writing this to let you guys know that without your help this new home plan is absolutely impossible. I promise to God that everything you guys send will be saved and going towards the first house we choose to build. We have been saving everything RU-vid has given us but it’s still not enough. We don’t want to rent anything because it’s not worth it over the years.
Thanks once again!

The Monkees were originally a fictional band for a fun mid-1960s sitcom about a Beatles-like pop group who get into wacky musical adventures. The four actors/musicians were originally recruited to just perform in the TV series, but they evolved into an actual band. Because they originated as a fictional TV show band, critics didn't respect them during the 1960s, but people later realized that they were actually pretty damn good musically regardless of how they came together. Mike Nesmith was a great songwriter; Peter Tork was an excellent multi-instrumentalist; Davy Jones and Micky Dolenz were both great singers.

My "Daydream Believer" connection. "Daydream Believer" is a song composed by American songwriter John Stewart, shortly before he left the Kingston Trio. I installed the satellite dish for John Stewart in Novato, CA. On the stairs going up to the MBR was the ORIGINAL Gold Record for "Daydream Believer" hanging on the wall. When I commented about it, he told me that song alone bought him a few houses.

Because of the success of the Beatles, American TV wanted to cash in. So they manufactured this band, a light hearted TV show and had songs written for them. Some of the songs, like this one, became big hits
@luckymustard
@luckymustard 3 года назад
And the four band members rebelled against the control that the TV/music producers had over them. They eventually were able to play their own instruments (instead of session musicians doing so) and write their own songs. Generally not as good, but at least more authentic. Check out "Porpoise Song (Theme from Head)".

I am from Gorton, Manchester UK. Davy Jones was born and raised about a mile from where we lived. The Monkees gave us so much pleasure in the mid to late 60s. Girls used to congregate outside his parents' house on Clumber Road, even though he was in the US at the time. He would be seen walking through Debdale Park throughout the 70s, 80s and 90s when he visited his parents. People waved and expressed their appreciation,but never disturbed him. My childhood was enhanced by the Monkees. All great guys. Great music and tv entertainment.

The Monkees were American television's answer to the Beatles. TV execs saw the Beatles' fame and thought, "Hey, let's make a TV show about a band just like them, except American!" So they auditioned young actors to be in their show - zany and cute - and planned to get studio musicians to do the music. But it turned out the actors they hired could sing and play themselves, so they recorded and started putting out albums. This clip is from the TV show. :)

The Monkees had their own Primetime tv show on NBC in the late 60s. I think 1967 to 69. Every Tuesday night at 7pm or 8pm, I forget, it so long ago. It was corny, and they played a song or two during the show. It was the Three Stooges with guitars and drums. It was for the 9-18 year old age group. It was light and a family oriented show everyone could watch without worrying, about bad language etc. I think they have all passed away, except Drummer and vocalist, Micky Dolenz. Great memories.

You need to find their TV Show. It ran 2 seasons 1966-1968. Comedy and music. I own all their episodes! Big Monkees fan here. The Monkees - Mickey Dolenz (drummer) born March 8, 1945, Mike Nesmith (guitar) born December 30, 1942, Peter Tork (bass and keyboards) February 13, 1942 - February 21, 2019 and David Jones (singer, tambourine and maracas) December 30, 1945 - February 29, 2012. Mickey and Davy were child actors and Davy was training to be a jockey before he moved to America and auditioned for the part on the Monkees. They also used their real names on the tv show.

The Monkees were a manufactured band consisting of two actors (Davy Jones and Micky Dolenz) and two musicians (Peter Tork and Mike Naismith) put together for a zany comedy TV show along the lines of the Beatles movies. Originally the boys were not allowed to write their own songs and often didn't perform them either. The studio had an army of songwriters for that, including, amongst others, Carol King and Neil Diamond. By the second series the boys were taking more artistic control and writing and performing some of their own songs. Here, the lead singer is Davy Jones and Micky Dolenz (usually a drummer and singer) is playing the tambourine. The guitarist is Mike Naismith and Peter Tork is on the piano.

The Beatles were called the "Fab Four" and the Monkeys were called the "Pre-Fab Four". The Monkeys were created by a savvy record promoter named Don Kirshner. A casting call went out and the members were selected according to a variety of talents. At the beginning only Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork were serious musicians and Davy Jones and Micky Dolenz were actors who also sang. Davy and Micky were immediately enrolled in music lessons to play their respective instruments. They had a great writing team including Carole King and Neal Diamond. Their show played on Saturdays, around noon, right after the cartoons ended. Michael Nesmith later had a falling out with Don Kirshner, who wouldn't allow them to perform any songs he wrote. The group actually turned down the song "Sugar, Sugar", because it was too "Bubblegum". The song was then given to a cartoon band called "The Archies" and became a big hit. Don Kirshner was rumored to have said he preferred the cartoon band because they did what they were told. Michael Nesmith left the group in the middle of recording a TV show. The rest of the group soon broke up afterwards.

Fun fact, before he was famous, Jimi Hendrix was their opening act for a while. Also, Micky Dolenz's daughter Amy was an actress and finer than frogs hair back in the day
