I highly suggest googling rabbit bonding and reading numerous blogs/articles, as well as watch other videos to help you get an overall idea of the bonding process because different methods work for different rabbits and situations!

It requires a lot of patience, dedication, and love. I've never crossed my mind. This is so much work. Terrific 👏👏👏👏

Thank you! It definitely helped that Blue had a submissive personality in the duo

How do you get to this stage? At the moment mine are in separate pens next to each other, because the new bunny is showing signs of aggression. I know if I put them in the same pen there will be a fight (mind you this is only day 2 of them seeing each other)

Did they ever come out of the area? Or remain in that spot from day one?

Was their permanent space also mutual? Is it ok to use the first rabbit space as their permanent space or will this cause problems?
@ariannadavis1114
@ariannadavis1114 2 месяца назад
It will cause problems unless you veryyyyy thoroughly clean that space, because the old space is still that bunnies territory

Did they fight in the carrier at all in the car? We have two males and I’m worried they will fight in the carrier

What if my bunnies ignore each other the whole time but show no signs of aggression. They will eat and drink together but they don’t show affection. They are completely relaxed around each other though.

How tall is the pen that you used?? I’ve heard mixed heights, I am only 5’2” so I need something short enough to be able to reach in but not so short they will hop out. I know you can also clip a blanket to the top

The black pen I used is roughly 24 inches, I've had it for 5+ years and like it!

Once you took them to their permanent location, was everything already there? I will be moving mine back to their shared area before they were bonded.. I will be neutralizing it and removing all of the things that were in the room before the bonding process

Are your bunnies neutered? Mine is not neutered and I wanna know if its possible to get him to bond with another bunny

they need to both be fixed prior to bonding

When you say "lunges continue throughout the day" how long are you doing this for? The first time I was bonding it was 15 minutes, then 30 2x a day working to more and more time

The rabbits stay together in the bonding pen 24/7 until they are bonded, I don't separate the rabbits at all until the bonding is over. This means I stay with them 24/7, even sleep next to them during the night

how would you feed there meals to them? or would they just eat hay for the entire week?
@binkybunnyfamily
@binkybunnyfamily 2 года назад
In the first few days I usually scatter feed their pellets/veggies on top of the hay so that they don't get fussy over sharing a bowl or I feed them in separate bowls. Once you feel they're getting closer in their bond, you can try feeding them from one big bowl!

Bonding 2 males is it tougher?
@binkybunnyfamily
@binkybunnyfamily 2 года назад
With my experience in bonding several rabbits over the years, I say rabbit bonding duration/difficulty will always depends on the individual personalities of the rabbits. It doesn't depend on their age or gender. In the past I've had 2 males bond instantly within minutes of first meeting each other with no problems at all, and I've had male/female bonds that took the entire week before they were settled in together. So gender doesn't always matter!

I had to separate mine from sight and smell for a while , they were so bad !!!! 😫instant fight in the bonding pen, snapping at face and circling. It’s even hard to separate 🤧 they both bow heads at the same time and snap immediately, it’s good that one of your buns seem to submit to the other, he just runs🤣- you’re so good with ur buns ✨ (my partner got bit on the finger through the glove/ it was intense )
@binkybunnyfamily
@binkybunnyfamily 2 года назад
Yep in previous times with my previous buns if the bonding failed I completely separated them for minimum 2 weeks so they can’t smell or see each other at all and then try the bonding again in a different brand new neutral space. The most important thing is COMPLETELY neutral space that neither bun has never been in or seen before! Otherwise they’ll still get territorial over areas they recognize and the bonding will never progress as it should! ❤️

I have bonded my mini lop doe Blueberry with another mini lop, and I wish I didn't bother bonding her with another rabbit. We had such a wonderful relationship with her, and that's why we thought she also needed to have a relationship with her own kind. She always looked so joyful. However, we saw a big change in her personality after the bond. She just became a follower, and it's very sad to see. I'm not going to separate them, but I just wanted to send a warning because all you hear about is its good for the bunny.

I’m genuinely curious as to what you mean when you say “it’s very sad to see”? What part became her after bonding became sad and undesirable?
@jenniferburns9231
@jenniferburns9231 Год назад
But that's what happens. They from a hierarchy and it's what rabbits need. It's not about you it's about the rabbits and they need to be in pairs or groups and one is the dominant and one is the submissive (follower) it's normal and natural!

You make it look so easy. One of my buns bit off a piece of the other’s ear. They’re finally 3 months old so I can get them fixed, but we’re going to raise and eat the aggressive one and rescue a more relaxed one so my traumatized bun isn’t alone. I’m a cat behavior specialist and never owned bunnies before so this has been a huge learning curve. But it’s so cute when they eat grapes 🍇 it’s worth the stress.
