Hi, if investing in TIPS ETF when inflation is already high and starts falling after you invest, means that you will be losing money from your investment as a whole, or simply means your return will decline? In other words, is there a risk with TIPS ETF to lose more than you invested? Thank you.
At time stamp 11:10 the commentator saw that the I-bond rate was jumping from 7.12% to 9.62% ONE month later. I don’t understand why he didn’t wait ONE MORE MONTH before purchasing his I-bonds at the much higher interest rate. Instead by purchasing his I-bonds in April he locked himself into a lower 7.12% interest rate for the next six months.
Btw I am buying i bonds too. Agree with everything you said but I also consider my i bonds as my cash stockpile / emergency fund that I can access in a week or so (assuming that emergency does not come up in the first 12 months). So my strategy is to keep maxing the 10k limit and probably up to 15k with the tax refund strategy and doubling that to 30k a year due to filing jointly. I think increasing my i bonds balance by 30k a year for 3-5 years will give me comfort that I have the fire power to invest in a sudden market crash or buy a great property deal in the future.
Thanks for sharing...I tend to think of this as a stockpile, too...just sitting there until the 12 months go by and then I'll reassess to see if I keep the bond or cash it in to deploy the money elsewhere.
Excellent comparison and explanation, thank you. We are looking for investment vehicles to put our cash reserve to work. We are going to buy the I-bonds, and looking in to the TIPS ETF's.
I am a big fan of your channel and your analysis. Would you possibly be interested in doing a review of the pending Porsche IPO that is to happen probably in October on the Frankfurt exchange?
If you are married, learn about buying gifts for your spouse. I invested 70k in I Bonds in less than 9 months for me and the wife. I bought 10k for me and 10k for wife in Nov 2021, bought 10k for me and 10k for wife in April 2022, bought 10k as a gift for my wife in April 2022 to deliver in 2023, and she bought me 10k as a gift in April 2022 to deliver in 2023, and I bought a 10k gift for my wife July 2022 to deliver in 2024 (note: it's only an 18 month hold til I can cash it in)

So if I buy $10,000 of I bonds right now I'll be adding $962 monthly to the principal? For the next 6 months that's $5772 (plus the $10,000 principal = $15772)? Thanks for the video.
Hey! I'm still around!!...Just have so much going on right now but I love making these videos when I can. I'm glad to see you're still out there...always great to hear from someone that was with me early on!
