I Bought 25 BROKEN Xbox Elite Controllers - Let's Fix Them! I paid $1,750 for 25 broken Xbox Elite Controllers. These controllers had quite a few different issues including broken shoulder buttons, faulty analog sticks, vibrator-motor issues, a squishy X-button, and one controller with connection issues because of liquid damage. Luckily I was able to fix quite a few of these controllers and keep them from going into the trash.

About This Video: I bought 25 broken Xbox Elite Controllers to see if I could fix them. Controllers like this are hard to find replacement parts for and unfortunately, fixing controllers like this isn't a good way to make a profit but it does help keep them from ending up in a landfill. And it's fun to see how many I can figure out. Two of the more difficult fixes were diagnosing a weak rumble-motor and also fixing a controller that wouldn't stay connected (I got to use my wiring pencil for this fix).

Actually sadly with the series 1 Elite controllers the shoulder buttons where well known to break because they decided to make it so there was a very thin piece of plastic between the left and right bumper which snaps even with very normal use.

Hi Steve, the video was worth waiting for really had fun to watch this. Those special cases like creating a connection on the board are the best when it all works out. And soon the next generation of consoles will arrive. People are going crazy on pre-orders, meanwhile Steve has not even blinked just thinking, 'I'm going to see so many of these things I don't need too'. All from sources such as: New videos of people golf clubbing consoles, throwing them off towers or tall buildings, angry girlfriends throwing them out of windows real or staged and people blowing them up. To which regular people will be shock, horrified and going 'oh no.' Meanwhile Steve is there nodding like an encouraging Jack Nicholson as he hits F5 on eBay.

Glad I watched this one today. 👍😁 I've done several drift stick fixes by replacing the stick entirely, but using the heat gun method never occurred to me hehe... I may try that next time. Also, I'm going to look for the potentiometers as an individual purchase, the thumb sticks are inexpensive enough but if I can save a dollar or two why not do it hehe...

Comment back if you can find them. I’ve not looked but would be surprised if they were available. Even still each analog stick has two potentiometers so two repairs per stick. Would be nice just to buy the pots though.

For the analog stick replacement portion, @t=11m45s, another solution is to use low temperature solder aka ChipQuik or the likes of it. That way you just heat up the joints and not expose the board to a lot of heat.

"If you pay attention you can save yourself a lot of trouble" I feel like that should play on loop for anyone who does repairs... I can't tell you the number of times I've worked on something and had to take a break out of frustration for something not working right after dealing with that issue and then in the off time I realize I missed something stupidly obvious and even easier and boom problem solved lol

He looks so irritated going through each controller, testing it, and writing down the notes.

Where contacts are worn down, have you tried using metal reflective duct tape cut precisely. It works... Awesome fix session, highly addictive.

I purchased an electric screwdriver just like yours. It works great while repairing my Grandsons' toys. Actually they belonged to my son and we take turns fixing the toys. While I may never work on the equipment in your videos the techniques shown are applicable to my projects. Thank you for your videos.

The L1 and R1 triggers were the biggest problem not only on the first Elite controller. The first Xbox One controllers had the same problem. You drop it or throw it and it's done. I threw 2 myself.

Hey man I love your videos I’ve been watching for awhile and about 3 weeks ago I bought 10 Xbox elite series 1 controllers, and 10 Xbox elite series 2 at salvage. A majority are bumper replacements, but I have trouble repairing the drift because I don’t know how to solder. Do you have any advice or guides on your channel?
