Samcrac Mini Cooper 🤙 I picked one up at Copart fixed the damage from accident. Immediately afterwords everything in the fuel system Started to fail lol
NO HE LOOKS LIKE THE DOMINOES PIZZA GUY IN HIS LITTLE SPARK THAT DELIVERED A PIZZA EARLIER. I THOUGHT IT WAS HIM.. GEEZ. I BEEN WANTING TO BUY THE SPARK.
Spoiler alert - he doesn't start the car. You got a great deal there anyway, the body is mint - put a 350 small block in it and go for another quarter million miles.
Hey Sam! I'm a old cautious Viet Vet but pretty computer savvy. BTW, I was drafted after enjoying college including Woodstock in '69. Does 'Honey' have access to my personal info on google chrome? Kudos, great video! I'm sold on continuing to grow with you. Sadly, I'm on borrowed time.
over 3 million hits. This guy has made at the very least 10K on this video so far. Combine that with the extensive "Honey" commercial and he's got to be pushing 15K just for making this video. That $1400.00 totaled Range Rover turned out to be quite the money maker for this guy.
@@SeriousAboutSalvage With the chocolate milk in the crankcase, the bearings are probably toast too. I would not risk putting gaskets on that engine with all the labor that's involved.
Old mechanic fact: If you place a fully charged battery directly on concrete (cement driveway) ... the battery will be dead in a day or two. Instead... if you place a piece of wood under a fully charged battery (between the bottom of the battery and the concrete ) the battery will still be fully charged weeks, months later.
I worked across the street from a Range Rover dealer. Everyday was a constant parade of tow trucks dropping off Range Rovers to the service department.
I check the AutoCheck report on Copart to at least see if there is any kind of mileage history and number of previous owners and accidents. If it was the same owner and there is some mileage history, you can extrapolate miles per year to estimate current mileage. I saw a BMW go through with no mileage but in the report history it already had 196,000 in 2015
sam those batteries can be restored, you need a 200amp manual booster charger. you run 200 amps for 15 minutes on 1 hour off for 5 cycles or less after getting levels correct
My brother bought a mint Land Rover, much like this, for 1500. 80k miles, listed at 8k for weeks. At least 20 people had passed on it, even when reduced to 4k because it would turn over at all. New battery, new tires, dealer serviced 100 percent. It was the cleanest used vehicle I have ever seen. My bro had done some research...showed up with cash, did the deal. Turned the key 5 times in the door lock and all the lights flash and horn beeps. Turns out, these trucks have an ignition disabling system if the battery is disconnected. Dealership charges 75 bucks for this procedure and keeps it a secret. He started it up that day and drove it home and the lady was just happy it was gone.
17:21 You know the tool is quality when it says "TESTTING". Also, if you take that battery back to Wal-Mart and tell them you lost the receipt, they should be able to swap it out under warranty. If it's been completely discharged for a while, it's trash. The heat and/or cold will kill the internal bits and it will report a false charge.
The thermostat is a bypass type (disc on bottom) that closes off the bypass as it opens. Look inside the housing and you will see the bypass port. Drilling holes may work for a quick test but not in the long run. The electrical connection is for the tempiture gage.
@@colescrustycars shocking, I know. Sam's likely has a blown head gasket..which he may have already stated but I didn't have time to watch the whole video.
New here. But the oil on those plugs is from the valve cover gasket. That oil is on the outside of the plug and when you take it out it runs down the threads and has nothing to do with the head gaskets. Few guys are LS swapping them.
I know a service department manager at a range rover dealership. They sell other makes of cars, also. I asked him about range rovers. He said every one of them comes back to the shop on a flatbed tow truck at least once a year. brake problems often run over $5000 to repair. I remember watching Jeremy Clarkson and the other two guys on the British TV series, top gear. in the episode I watched, they had to buy used cars and drive across some country in Africa. Or maybe it was South America. Anyway one of them bought a used range rover. The other two guys were talking about the range rover. One said to the other, did you ever own a range rover. The answer from the third guy was yes. The next question was did it ever run?. The answer was not very often. I was surprised to see three British guys making fun of a British product.. The service manager I know at the range rover dealership said to me, he would buy a Volvo with 200,000 miles on it before he would buy a brand new Range Rover..He said it is almost the toughest job he has ever had in his life, confronting range rover owners and presenting their repair bills to them. He said the only ones that really like them are the mechanics...
Yep... I was saying the same thing. I have done my share of mechanic work when I was younger. Back then an mentor of mine told me never put a good battery on the ground. It drains the charge.
@@misternick8316 Your mentors were dumb and have no idea wtf they're talking about. Batteries work by using counteractive metals. It has nothing to do with "ground"
@@DrDripz the rebar in concrete creates a magnetic pull that kills the ions in batteries. you can put a battery on the ground, but never on concrete unless you want to kill a good battery. AAS and BS in electrical engineering if you were wondering about my qualifications of having an opinion on this.
The only old rovers that should be bought is the 4.2l. Bullet proof if maintained and supercharger. The 5.0 an bmw engines are a time bomb with the timing chains
9:23 when You put batteries on concrete they go dead, it sucks the current right out of them, put them on a board or a piece of plywood to insulate them from ground.
I was always told not to put batteries on concrete because it can drain them, and you are charging them on concrete? Great video. Would love to have a Range Rover...
Well if the concrete is at -20 then your battery won't like it and will possibly freeze. If it's in your house garage at nearer house temps it's not going to mind at all. I don't think Sam has that problem.
Bought a 2005 Land Rover Freelander last July 2019 paid $1,400.00 CDN in running and drivable condition. But needs exhaust and some body parts, leather seats need recovering, but knew this. Will spend another $1,000.00 to $2,000.00 to fix it up. Just the exhaust system from engine to tail pipe is $1,000.00 CDN using Walker Pipes (the muffler wanted $400.00) to hell with this. Will custom build a exhaust from Summit Racing Equipment and Car Quest. But will not pay $1,000.00 for an exhaust, will custom build one. The British Parts are out of this world, just keep away from New Parts. Use after market or used parts where possible. If your Land Rover in the Video is not worth fixing, it's worth 6 times in parts.
natilyfe Or you could swap another engine. It's still worth it. Resale value is high if it is safe and a good runner. Doing the parts thing can be done but you got advertising to do, then people want certain parts, etc. His vehicle in the video has a good body just faster to swap engines get it running do a safety check and sell it, if he still wants it.
A lot of time on coil pack cars there will be oil all over the plug due to a leaky valve cover gasket since the what have you goes down through that thang...
Cars like Range Rovers, and other vehicles that have low production numbers dont have a lot of companies making parts for them.. That is why you can get them cheap because it can be expensive to fix.Imagine taking a lamborghini in to get an oil change and it costs 10k
Love your videos how people spend anything up to £90,000 new on these unreliable motors is beyond me how do Jaguar Landrover stay in business is beyond me!
