Another good build. The only thing you need to change, is on any heads that specify to loosen and then retorque the bolts like that, you need to loosen and retorque them one at a time, and not loosen them all at once again. ideally in the exact same order that you torqued them the first time. The idea with that being that the other bolts are holding the basic torque spec, and keeping the head pinned down tight, as you loosen and reset the others more accurately than they were seating the dowels and squishing the gasket.

Always learning bro , it never stops ,although this is one off the frst things I was told .All bolts go bck where they where and come out n in ,following a pattern ,

I saw a guy who builds performance engine and he used an old dishwasher to clean crank cases using degreasing liquid instead of water . He Also used the heating element in washer to help clean dut also with the cases hot it made inserting bearings simple

That year of yfz had a recall if I remember correctly. They added a little oil squirter inside one of the cases. They would send you the squirter for free and you had to have a machine shop machine it and press it in

You absolutely can use a hone on a nikasil cylinder. Just lick it with a diamond hone to deglaze If you are installing new rings so they will seal properly. For future reference obviously.

I’ve found that putting the cases in the oven works AWESOME. Ur way looks to b successful so I guess either way is ok. To remove bearings the same thing and put em in the oven having the cases up side down and u will hear when the bearing falls out.

The best way to seat fresh rings is to heat them up at full throttle for three seconds then engine brake and let them cool for twice as long. Do this about three times and you're good to go.

Sounds if the fuel screw was turned in all the way they had to large of a pilot jet in it. 1 turn out min. Over 3 out and the pilot is to small. As for nikacell Tusk tools make a stiff nylon brush that's like a ball hone but only cleans and will not remove any of the coating.

I've bought 2 YFZ450's in the last 3 years one an 05 in Reno for $1500 tune up oil change put in a battery runs like new taken a couple dune trips, then an 08 in New Mexico for $1100 same story a new battery. both in amazingly good condition all original plastics and stock decals. Lately its been much harder to find for these deals. I did drive 890 miles for the 05 and 1460 miles to Albuquerque. 3 or 4 years ago they were all over for $1000 to $2000 not any more. I did also do the oil mod to the 05 the 08 doesn't need it, but that was my choice its not required, but I didn't want to risk it,

1: parts washer, ultrasonic, anything to clean off old mess, can literally heat grime in threads when reassembled, there’s a reason engine builders have a “clean room” 2: use an oven to heat the cases evenly, good way to warp the aluminum like crazy using a torch 3: get a good set of actual micrometers instead of calipers Great job but if this was a decent car engine.. it wouldn’t last very long lucky clearances in dirt bike ATV stuff isn’t as critical 4: RTV is trash, try yamabond, or another type of thin gasket glue

Hey 2 Vintage, I got a problem on my hand right now! I have a 2007 Crf450R that I bought that had no spark! I drained the stator side oil to replace the stator and never filled it back up with oil because I wanted to see if I had a spark before filling it back up with oil! I let the bike sit in my garage for another 1 week after draining the oil and yesterday I went to kick over the bike and it didn’t kick over! It just locked up and I got no clue why? The bike was never started and stood in the cold for a week and did not crank over! I’ve watched all your videos and seen you fix all your bikes not mattering on the problem! Could you please help me out and let me know if you know what the problem is! Thanks again!
