TODAY I BOUGHT AN iPHONE 13 FROM FACEBOOK MARKETPLACE! We found a deal that was too good to be true and we put it to the test. I made a dumb decision of meeting up with a guy to trade my money for an iPhone. What do you think of the iPhone 13? Would you ever buy off of Facebook market place? First things first, you never hand the money over during a transaction even if they get annoyed you are well within your right to check the product they are selling before purchasing, and ngl if that had been me in the situation I would have made it clear that he isn’t receiving the money until I’ve checked out the product cause at the person who is buying I’m within my right to make sure I’m getting what I want

Heads up for next time: Before handing your money over, verify it turns on, check settings for icloud to see if it's signed in and IMEI to see if it's blocked from carriers or stolen. Check the sim card tray, and see if the IMEI is written on there. If it is, and it pulls up, then it's most likely real and just broken.

When you are in that kind of situation, you never know what you'll do. We all say we'd never do this and that but when its happening in real time, you do things you don't normally do. All you can do is take it as a learning experience. Next time, you won't be so quick to hand it over I bet!

So sorry this happened to you! I had a similar experience on Craig’s List. I bought a washer/dryer and the person said it worked fine. I got it home and it didn’t work right. It needed like $600 worth of repairs. I felt so stupid to not test them out, but they were in storage. Long story short, don’t buy expensive things from private people without testing it.

girl ALWAYS check the cameras, if the camera holes (like the opening of the camera itself thru the glass cover) are the same size, its fake since the ultra wide angle camera lens has a larger opening than the regular wide angle lens. also the glass hump that the cameras are on are always matte so if its shiny then its fake (on the pros its the opposite, the back is matte while the bump that holds the cameras is shiny). hope this helps :)

Could definitely understand to Sarah’s feeling in that situation especially the seller definitely didn’t looked vulnerable so I wouldn’t even confront not to even mention Sarah. So please guys let’s just simply avoid such situation, firstly check before giving the money away or secondly just don’t do it when it feels 1 percent sus man. Edit: Rebecca’s attitude to such situation cannot be blamed but as friends let’s just consider our friend’s emotion before anything. Especially, Sarah was very anxious and really didn’t know what to do and it’s hard to pull up the courage to confront the seller upfront so don’t immediately start blaming your friend.

Whenever you find something that's looks super nice and cheap one thing to do is to look at the account and see how many sales he had and when the account was made because if the account was made in like the same month as it is its probably a scam because usually those accounts get banned quickly

I bought a Sony Xperia, but not sure what model, from Facebook, and have been using it for over 4 years. The phone only cost me about £60. I am still very happy with it, and I don't replace, until they stop working. Then I trade it to an official phone recycling service.

You are very brave. I sell on Facebook marketplace, and I wouldn’t meet up with anyone. I would only ship. And I don’t do high ticket items like phones, I just sell small things like pencils, pens and decorative stuff for your planner. It’s very risky when you meet up with a complete stranger. You don’t know if they are dangerous or not. I think you’re lucky that he only scammed you out of money, because some people are really bad. And I don’t think you should put yourself in danger like that.
