Brother, im 28 and just got my first car I actually own to myself and it’s a Chevy trail blazer I got for free. Traded my dads s10 my brother had blown up after 13 cars given to him before me, and he never kept up on. But now I get a car, taught myself to drive and how to keep up on them myself (for the most part) now the reason I haven’t had a car is because I’ve spend everyday of my life for the last 10 year’s making sure my kids have what they need. My oldest turns 10 in 4 days and as a single father this has probably been one of the best years I’ve had so far and it’s only half way through her.
I have a 2008 with 125,000. I agree. Best most reliable and comfortable car I ever owned. Heck, I’m 75. I bought my first car in 1963, a 1952 Dodge for 35 bucks. Since then I’ve owned or leased 44 cars and trucks. Not to mention hundreds of rental cars as a world traveling field engineer. Love my Trailblazer.
I got a 2006 Chevrolet trailblazer 160000 miles on it. Still running. If you still have your trailblazer get it fluid filmed underneath on the frame to keep the frame from rotting. I get mine done twice a year. I wish I would have started when I got the truck but I didn't know about fluid film then, but look it up. Don't just take my word for it. Look it up. I live in the east coast where there's snow and salt so I had to do it but if you plan on keeping that truck I advise you to look into it
@@oneway1811 245000 is alot miles, if I was you I would have been setting money to the side when it hit 190,000 mi so you can get it rebuilt. When it goes out or when you thought it would go . I Know I'm going to have to get mine rebuilt soon. Probably near the 200,000 . And I got to change out my fuel system I had bought the truck pre-owned at 50,000 mi. I don't know how much damage the previous owner did to the truck before I got it I just wish the truck was better on gas. There's no reason for a truck that size to be so bad on gas lol. This thing burns gas like it's a crew cab dually lol
@@rival989I bought mine at 230,000 after a rebuild and I’ve been driving it every day since with no issues. I’m no expert on cars but these things are seriously tanks if you treat them right (previous owner was my roommates best friend who’s a mechanic) they’ll last forever if you do your due diligence
You are most definitely winning with this one! 3 k is a good profit for you and in my opinion still a great deal for someone else as long as A/C is not a dealbreaker
I love these trucks ! I can find them so cheap with some b/$ issues and fix them . I just had an issue with my trailblazer EXT that has rear ac. The lines were leaking above the gas tank 😣 . Well I found block off caps that bypass the rear lines . Soooo no more leak for $13 shipped to my door next day 😁 . I would get a used ac compressor from a U pull it yard . Or call one of the 200 salvage yards by me and fix that ac but that's just me . Those power steering lines are known for leaking very common issue. Sometimes the P/S cooler will rot and leak also .
Get your truck frame sprayed with fluid film and spray the rest of the body that seems to be rusting with fluid film. If you don't care about the body that you just want to keep the car running, look up fluid film
Pretty good deal! And the body looks decent for a trail blazer. From what I have seen they are really prone to serious rust issues. Sounds like it has a wheel bearing growling.. I am sure that you will sell it quick!
Not junk, I actually like these, and the Envoy's, too, except that weird XUV thing, that weird one with the weird tailgate. I don't consider the new TrailBlazers to be more than a stupid crossover. I'd drive this.
I get that you don't like the XUV cuz it doesn't have a 3rd row. I personally like the Envoy XUV because of how weird and quirky it is especially that quirky rear trunk space configuration.
Too funny... I paid $750 at a city impound auction for my '03 about 5 years ago and it's a beast. Nothing was really wrong with it, gave it a good tune up, swapped out a couple parts, and it's been reliable as can be. The 4.2 Atlas is an amazing engine and easy to boost with stock internals. I wish they made more performance parts for it.
I currently own a 2004 4x4 4.2 l with 230,000 MI, still running strong I occasionally pull over 4,000 lb with it,parts are cheap and it has been one of the more reliable vehicles I've owned.
Had one for my first car, the magnets on the A/C clutches get weak causing the compressor not to engage. If you remove the clutch off the compressor pulley you’ll find a few shims, I took two of them out, threw it back together and it worked good as new. Didn’t even have to take the belt off. Of course check if the system holds a charge first. Good luck with the thing!
Can you in any way show me how you did this ? I have a trailblazer and the thing don’t got AC lol I have Freon in it and it’s full and holding charge but the clutch won’t engage
I got one of those! CANT KILL IT! My second one!! Gave the first one to my Daughter! She sold it for 1500! Only thing is I don't like the transmission! Towing a trailer with a light load it continually downshifts! She's a winner!! Especially in these days! Bet you could get upwards of 6K out of that!
Very nice deal for what you picked up. If the ac is the only issue, I think you came out ahead. The seller probably sold it for that price due to the inoperable ac. The average shop charges 2-3k to replace a bad compressor and related components.
This was my first car, 2002 LT which was pretty much an LTZ except no heated seats. 6CD changer, rear ac and radio control, large trunk area, I actually really want one again and I feel this is unbelievable you found one for $750
Yea these trucks are great if their maintained. I brought mine at $2000 As is and invested a grand to fix up some parts and she is running like new!, it came with bigger mini monster tires! And the big grill! This is a pretty durable, travel, on/off road lil truck!👍
I bought my 2003 TB LTZ 2 years ago with only 49,000 miles (Japanese spec) for $2600. Solid car. I've kept up with maintenance and it runs great. Super comfortable and cruises on 1800 rpm at 60mph. The only downside that I can think of is its fuel economy. It's not pretty especially nowadays.
My man, you absolutely stole it from that guy. He must’ve gotten a new ride because he could’ve gotten another hundred thousand plus more out of that vehicle. I have an 02 Trailblazer LS with 233 thousand plus and the damn thing is a great truck. Running it till it doesn’t want to run anymore. You should hang on to it for a while. Four wheel drive actually is good in Jersey winters here. Unless you really need the money, you can triple yours after you put your touch on it, good luck 👍 😁!!!
Just picked up a 07 TB LS at a junk yard, got it for 500 bucks. 50k miles, only thing wrong with it is a broken plastic insert on one of the door handles. It too has the 4.2 just with a less fancy interior package, couldnt be more happy with the car.
750 ? Omg you got the deal of a lifetime! I have the exact same car, LTZ . Same exact interior color, outside is black. I currently have over 312,000 miles. Everything ORIGINAL. Motor transmission all original. Those motors are bullet proof and that owner definitely took care of it. Why he sold it for so cheap is beyond me. I wish I saw that ad, I would have gone to China if necessary to pick it up. By the way., I too had a power steering issue with it, it wound up being the metal tubing that runs along that area developed a small pin hole So the entire rod was replaced.. I have a picture if you want. It's on my phone I'll have to scroll and look for it. This was many years ago. Other than wear and tear, I'm going to drive it to the very end. Extremely reliable and very strong. In an effort to save money, I like to repair things myself when I can. Recently I replaced the thermostat and let me tell you, that was a bear. I though the alternator was difficult lol. No rust on mine either and I live in PA . Lots of salt use during winter. Who ever buys that is getting an SUV the way they don't make them anymore. Rock solid.
Well this car definitely worth buying as the the first one. Cheap, easy to fix - what's notvto like. Greetings from Russia where this gen Traiblazet has been assembled for some time and mostly seen as a luxury SUV.
I used to drive these things all time when I worked as a courier at a GMC dealer way back in the day… it always amazed me how they got way worse gas mileage then the Yukons, but the ride was always silky smooth and the size was ideal. I don’t recall them being very reliable, but this one looks super clean.
I got a 05 Trailblazer EX LT for $2,200 2 weeks ago with 155,000 miles. Runs good and just a few things with it. Tires are crap, oil gauge buried to the left, Filthy seats and carpets, needed a new rear wiper. Very little rust on wheelwells. Has the click click click of the rear HVAC door control but RU-vid has videos on how to fix. I'm happy. A 4X4 with seating for 7 for $2,200. It was a no brainer.
As an owner of an Envoy Denali (GMT-360) that is the sister of the Trailblazer. The only issue I've had is the front wheel bearings/hub going bad, pretty normal wear and tear type stuff. The trucks weakness is the sway bar end links, those things don't last for jack. Otherwise I'm at 213k on the original transmission and engine (5.3) these trucks are pretty solid as long as the maintenance is kept up with. They do take a good bit of abuse as well, I've never had an serious issues with mine aside from the A/C condenser springing a leak due to age. The I6 is prone to a spider web crack forming in the exhaust manifold, which could be the source of the exhaust leak (forms inside facing the engine).
Holy steal of a deal, mister. I would recommend fixing the AC/compressor issue based on what you can get for the fixer AND the fact that you can do it for a fraction of a shop repair - IMO. Nice to see you back online for your summer version of the channel! *virtual hi-5 for u*
Great deal on a solid vehicle. I have a 2004 Trailblazer LS 4X4 with original 4.2l I6 engine and original transmission. Now has 232k miles. Still runs like a clock.
Your absolutely solid bro! It's like 20 years old sounds good and no check engine light. Of course a couple things you may have to fix but for the most part that's probably the best deal you will have all year
I bought an 03 LTZ for my teenaged daughter a year or so ago. I got it cheap knowing that the suspension needed work. My daughter and I replaced the control arms, ball joints, tie rod ends, shocks, struts, brakes sway bar bushings, and sway bar links over the winter. Unfortunately, the thing I didn't catch when I bought it was that in over 250,000 miles, the transmission was likely never serviced. I had it drained and flushed and it failed within 50 miles. That became a hard decision, because a transmission rebuild cost as much as I already had into the vehicle. I ended up getting it done, figuring that the vehicle had at least 50k miles of life left in it if holds up as long as my first trailblazer (on '04 I bought new). She's been driving it daily for about 9 months now with no issues whatsoever. These SUVs have a few known issues that can cause problems but are fixable: Instrument panel dying, front wheel bearings (very easy to change) , and weak transmissions. They never got good gas mileage, you can expect about 18mpg on a good day.
That is a heck of a deal. The gmt360 is a pretty decent platform. I had an 03 Envoy for a few years. Bought it with 207K and traded it in with 247K and it was still going strong
I Have owned 10 GM vehicles in my life, and have never had a steering wheel alignment issue, if the shop i took it to knew how to align a vehicle properly.
I bought a 2006 Escalade for $900 from a dealership. They claimed it needed a motor, it just needed a water pump. I've been driving it for a year since. Got a 2006 HHR for $600, oil change and a vacuum job and sold it for $1500. 2008 Impala, $600, oil change, air filter and vacuum job, out the door for $1200.
I also have a 2003 Trailblazer 4x4 straight 6. The power steering leak is probably the pressure line over the drivers wheel well. Just repair the line with a compression union and some copper pipe and your good to go! MyTB never fails me, just rusting
I bought a Chevy trailblazer 4x4 LTZ a few years ago with 100k. After fixing a few worn parts, it's been a pretty good commuter. It's a gas hog at 17- 18mpg highway driving, but I like it because it's roomy. I've had a few road trips with it and the family too. I paid $10k for it (maybe too much), but it payed itself off by now. I don't regret my purchase. It's got pretty good HP too. Good enough for passing, merging into freeway etc. It's a good classic Chevy IMHO. It has 172k miles now and still going to strong
You are so lucky to have found this! How many miles are on it? Mine has 300,000 .it is an 02 .Have had a lot going bad for running parts , tie rods, ball joints ….has been a really good car!!
Great deal, and get Jeb to work on that Ford when you make the video. Always interesting to see what your next buy and fixer upper is.As always stay safe and take care. 🙏
Great deal for 750 brother. Especially nowadays! Definitely can make some money on that one! Or drive it yourself. I'm sure it has 4 wheel drive. Will be a great winter car in Vermont. Thanks for the 📹 🎥
Those are very good SUV’s. We owned the Buick version a Buick Rainer. Only thing to watch for on them is the transmission. Very common for them to fail. Mainly when it shifting from 2nd into 3rd.
Wow! I’m the next town over from where you bought this. Literally 5 minutes down the road from me. Definitely woulda recognized the Duramax if I saw you😂
I bought mine for the same price in 2020, 165k miles, 179k now. It’s been decent. Spent some money on doors that weren’t rusted out and some suspension work. I use it as a winter beater. Does that job well.
I still have my 2005 Trailblazer. I use it as an airplane hauler but it's been great. There are some things to look out for. 1) The transmissions are junk. The first one in mine died at 80k miles. 2) The instrument cluster is prone to dying, but if you're decent with a soldering iron the stepper motor kits are real cheap on eBay. 3) The exhaust leaks are common. They happen in 2 places. Right in front of the cat and right at the exhaust manifold. I've also had to replace the front control arms and bushings. But otherwise it's been great. Mine's the EXT model and the 4.2L has been fantastic. I really wish it was in my 2018 Traverse instead of the 3.6L V6.
@wun1gee the stock ones are absolute junk. GM might as well not even included one. I put a nice Hayden one on 200k miles ago. I'm now at 315k miles on my 05 TB.
Looks like you hit the jackpot with this one. A running vehicle with low miles AND 4-wheel drive for under 1K! Yeah you had to drive a little way to get it, but still.
I currently have an EXT model (3rd row) and it's been solid. Only issues I've had are the idler pulley locking up, ac compressor, and the dash likes to take vacations every now and then lol. But we've driven it from Iowa to the Gulf Of Mexico and back with no issues. Great vehicles.
before your idler pulley locked up did it make a grinding noise?? mine has recently been making that noise at idle and i assumed it was either the fan or a pulley
These are great, I loved mine but the frame rusted out near the front and rear control arm brackets. The 4.2 liked to chug gas but the trailblazer was a very reliable and comfortable vehicle.
Had too get some things done too my frame, cost me about 2 grand. From their on been getting frame sprayed down with fluid film to keep rust from spreading. Truck still running Good with no issues 160,000 miles, would be More but between me and My wife have 3 cars and 3 motorcycles so I mostly driving in Winter cause it sucks up gas ⛽ like crazy
This Gen of trailblazer is the best. We have 4 of them. Best engine ever built. Easy to work on . Best aily driver vehicle I've ever owned. Most of the common problems are simple. You stole it. We have 2 ltzs . The ext models are the best. Parts relatively inexpensive too. Win win
I own a 2008 Chevy trailblazer LS and it has 160,000 km going still strong, I am planning to LS swap the vortec engine and keep it in my home as table. 😀
If it hasn't sold already, I'll be buying one as well (form one of the workers who built the frame). The frames on all the GM truck line were made at the infamous Budd Automotive in Ontario (now long gone bulldozed). They were well made just remember that the transmission in them is tiny and is maxed out just moving itself around. Get its fluids change yearly both trans and transfer case and differential and it'll last and last. No overdrive if you pull anything use tow/haul gear. Oil spray the bottom and wash underneath weekly if you drive in snow. You will retire still driving it if you follow this.
You got extremely lucky. A little over a year ago, I had purchased a 1998 Chevy Trail Blazer with the 4.3 L V6, and 4 Wheel Drive, and paid $1,100 for it. It soon became a mechanical nightmare however, and I was so relieved when a friend of mine had a 1998 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer Edition that just needed a battery, fuel pump, Alternator, and some minor electrical work done, and now I have a much better SUV with All Wheel Drive, Moon Roof, power seats, windows, and door locks, and keyless entry, and for a bonus, it also has a super hyper sensitive alarm system on it as well. My friend offered me the sweet deal of an even swap, Blazer for explorer, no money changing hands. I paid nothing for the explorer cash wise, so if I were to sell it, my asking price would be probably around the $2500 range.
Good deal and nice Trailblazer! I picked up a 2004 with 140,000 that runs and perform great for $3000. Did a few simple upgrades like Iridium plugs, CAI, and a performance high flow muffler and runs even better!
I've always liked these suv's. I had an envoy and after the typical used car maintenance it was a great general purpose vehicle. I would buy another. Btw there was an SS version for sale in by for 7k last week in by. Wish I jumped on it.
I have an '05 model with 184k on the odometer. Runs like brand new and the motor has never had an issue. Sure I've had to replace 10+ parts on it but that's because of it sitting for a year and a half. It's been in my family for the past 17+ years and I'm not getting rid of it.
