That is a superb example of a Rover 100, I suspect they may soon rise in value as a modern classic. Such a sensible British little motor!

By the mid-1990's the Rover 100 was not meeting the Euro crash standards or future standards. By 1996, they only had a 1 star rating, something very unacceptable even then. I am from the USA and in 1996 had one of the same body style as this one in the video as a rental out of London. I drove it in a number of areas of England, including in the Yorkshire region, on the M1 to single track roads. To me its ride, handling, was superior to a Opel Corsa 3 door hatchback I drove in Ireland the previous year. This might do well as a simple, nostalga car.

Yeah, I wouldn’t want to crash in it! 😅

I was fortunate enough for my parents to buy me a red 3dr 111i as an 19th birthday present in 1995. Never did a Rover 100 come into my mind beforehand but I grew to absolutely adore that little car & did 40000 miles in it in 3 years all over the country. It even came with a years free insurance, £14 filled the tank, it was totally reliable, handled brilliantly & the 1.1 K series was peppy & smooth. Good memories! & I did have chuckle at the 8 track comment 🤦🏼‍♂️🤣

That blow torch tip worked really well. It's an honest old thing and should find a buyer easily. Should turn a tidy profit for you. The hydragas is easy to pump up with the right tools, glad you saved it.

I have always loved the Metro as my nan had one as a kid and I grew up with it. Love the 100 despite it’s tart up over the years. Nightfire Red is arguably the nicest colour too for these! The service history is awesome, especially with the cambelt. Definitely owned by an elderly person! What a fab little car
@thesilentgametestr

they lower themselves if they leak, but they are easy to lower as they dont require aftermarket parts, so will hardly be classed as boy racer. i used to have a 1.1 rover metro, the person i got it off turned it in to a gti rep. was my first car 19 years ago and was great and a lot of fun for the first 6 months when the head gasket went plus wasnt the best of examples at the time i found out. miss having one although if i got one nowadays it would be an actual gti or least the gta.

Love a Westcountry car, especially Exeter and the surrounding areas, they’ll be lots of these moored up on the elderly residents driveways who bought them in the 90’s and it became their last car….

Nearly the last of them. Nightfire red was the best colour. I had so many as a driving school cars. Main issue was the rusty wheel arches. It’s a cassette holder!

I smile as you grimace about having no power streering! all cars apart from some of the more prestigious models did not have power steering, In fact I think it was not until the mid 90's when lesser cars began to have it fitted as standard. It was just something you got used to like 'keep fit' manual windows!

That’s a beauty!! Those rear wheel arches look good as new. Just so you know, the rear bumper is doing the whole saggy thing that they usually do (very straight forward fix though). Should get between £2.5 - 3k for it though. I sold a 1996 Diesel Rover 100 with slightly crispy rear arches and 104,000 miles for £1850 a few months ago and yours is loads tidier than mine. Good luck with it. Love the videos!!

Lovely example. The 1.1 single cam K series were nowhere near as prone to headgasket failure as the larger 16v units. They also drive far nicer than their fuddy duddy image projects. I had an early 1990 Rover Metro GS back at the turn of the millennium - I gave 250 quid for it and it was brilliant. I guess that they charge a booking fee to stop people from not turning up - my mate runs an MOT bay and people not keeping the their alloted appointments is the bain of his life!

regards the low front suspension it wont be a case of pumping it up as the rover metro's had there hydro suspension connected front to rear on each side where as the older austin metros the fronts were individual and the rears connected. The reason for the fronts being low will be because the front knuckle joints are worn through
