You got a free cat! 😂 Lime green does pulsate in small spaces. Your little homey touches are lovely. This style system really has me thinking about what root I feel at home in.
The fact you bought your dream home at such a young age is great, but on top of that, you bought a house and are renovating it at EXACTLY the right time! It'll be really interesting to see how your aesthetic transforms the house, especially your dressing room/filming room. Great video!
Congratulations🎉 Makes me smile to see your excitement over your new home. I’m sure it’s going to be wonderful! Happy to tag along for the transformation journey😁
Congratulations! I hope you have many happy years in your new home! I have a home ( I live in the U.S.) built in the 1970s, and I am finding that I am now having to replace a lot of the plumbing. Do yourself a favor and budget for replacing plumbing in your bathrooms when you renovate them. If you are replacing tile you will have easy access to the plumbing at that time and can evaluate what may cause problems in later years. Forewarned is forearmed!
You are one of my favorite content creators on all things style, and I was FLOORED when you said you were 22. 22! That's crazy! But it's also what makes you special. I love getting advice from young people, but it's rare that someone your age would have your maturity and insight as well. Anyway, you're awesome and I hope you're enjoying your dream home and all your success! :)
You are so spot on (and mature! ) to prioritize 1) Scaling below a high budget, 2) Prioritizing being near your family and 3) Being willing to compromise . These are going to reap future rewards! ❤
Watching this vid to manifest my dream home!! Great tips, adding character & personal touches to the home definitely makes it a homier place to live in.
Congratulations, Elloe-Jean! 🎊 Your house looks really beautiful. I am sure that you will make it even better with the time. 😊 It's funny because we also bought the house 1,5 months ago and we just sold my fiance 's house the last week.🏠 We are very excited about our new purchase as it is a house with "the character " as you say. It's from 1930ies very charming renovated house with the therase, balcony and big garden. We needed 5 rooms and 2 bathrooms as we each have 2 children from our previous marriages. The only problem is that the family who sold the house for us needs more time to find another place to live, so they got 5 months for that. We are moving in only at the end of February. I can't wait! ❤
Congrats🎉 We bought a house 4 years ago. And what I learned was: Windows, single panes or old ones are an easy way to improve your Energy consumption and the „felt temperature“ of a room massivly. But on the other hand I lived that 4 years with wires sticking out the walls and a waterstained ceiling, so maybe don‘t listen too closely to me.
Ah, the sleeping on the floor part of moving! 😂 So much of your experience brings back exactly how I found house buying. Love that 80s bannister. Wishing you good home making adventures! 🎉
In so excited for you!! I am about to move into my house even through ive owned i for a year already! It needed major renovations and we had to redo all the drywall, electricity, and plumbing. Im looking forward yo seeing how you modernize it 😁
Congratulations Ellie! Looking forward to seeing your progress and I love that you’re being so practical and open about the reality of the process. So much of interior design content glosses over the icky/unglamorous stuff and goes right to the decor that it can lead people to feel bad about their home and that just doesn’t feel right to me.
I'm also into this adventure that is buying a house so I will enjoy watching your moving and decoration process and getting a lot of inspo and ideas on how to make a house that belonged to someone else feel like ours ❤
Congratulations!! That's so exciting. We're also looking at houses now for around April next year, so this is both inspirational, timely and helpful! I wish you all the best~
Hmm, interesting thought about style roots and interiors, I feel because I've been interested in interior longer I have a clearer idea, and with that I'd say a combination of Earth, Moon, Stone and Mountain, and I've besn thinking for a while style roots for clothing for me are earth, stone and mountain, with sometimes a hint of moon.
I’m a U.S. viewer and I totally understand about being close to family! 45 minutes away does seem far! My parents live 1.5 hours away now and I have them sleep over once a week 😅
Massive congratulations! We nearly bought a house in Norfolk before the pandemic but now we're waiting to exchange contracts in Belfast, was really nice to see shots of Norwich 😊. My husband and I are actually considering his friend living with us in the new house too, I'm wondering what made ye decide on that as it's not a very common setup? 😅
Ellie, respectfully, how could a 22 year old have a budget of £300,000 in this economy? I think this is a wonderful video and I like you over all, but I think you could do a little explanation video to show other younger people how this is achievable, or how you worked out the amount you could spend- it could be that other young couples could afford to buy a £90,000 apartment, but just don't know how to work that out, or how to go about things. You wouldn't need to go into detail about your own personal finances (for all we know, maybe you inherited the money and it's a sad story). But what you could do is explain the budgeting / proof of incomes etc that you guys used.
Speak to any solicitor - buying a house before getting marriage is a really really bad idea. Also, letting some guy live with you, bad idea. Even a friend.
Most couples now want to live together before getting married. It's usually better financially to sort the house first and then save up for the wedding, so it's becoming more and more common to do things that way around. Always a good idea to make sure everything is very clear financially on paper with a solicitor, I completely agree.
Don't get carpet until you have done all decor and renovation! Otherwise trying to keep it protected will be a major pain, it will get paint on it/damage etc
Just some advice, if the friend who is living with you and your boyfriend didn't buy the house with you, it's best that you get him on a tenancy agreement. Also, I know you said that you've just moved in which explains it, but the sound of the video is echoing too much. Otherwise, congratulations on your new house! Xx
Yes! Absolutely have a printed and signed agreement no matter how close you are - it will save heaps of trouble down the line to have everything in black and white from the get go.
My style roots for my wardrobe are very different from what I like to have in my home interiors. I really like the home interiors of my style roots but I wouldn't want them in my home , it would overwhelm me, I like to keep things fresh , simple with some character. It may be just us neurodivergens
Congrats! You look so happy! For your undercounter fridge and freezer, you obviously have the option of front opening units, but you might also consider a top opening chest style dual fridge/freezer like the ones Dometic and Iceco make. You could put it on sliders, slide it out, and open the top. It might be easier to use than the front opening style and not require you to bend down as far. They're also more energy efficient.
I noticed in your excitement and vlogging your voice is brighter and higher than your usual sit down voice; it went in and out of it. On another note, congrats on the house!! I love the idea of infusing style roots into interior outside of fashion choices
Yay! Excited to see how you continue to apply styling for the "bone structure" and vibes of the house! I am slowly working on my first house too and trying to stay true to the house, myself, and budget!
Congratulations!🎉🎊 It’ll be lovely there for you two and your guests! I’m looking forward to updates 😍 and you’re very lucky to have your mummy over to help out so often. It’s a great privilege to have your family live near like that. 😊
Congratulations! you seem so happy!! We’re moving in to our first home next week so relate to a lot of this and it’s making me even more excited. Would love to see more house progress content 💖
