4:00 yes its an ej25, the 2.5 is the displacement of the engine (2.5 liters). also funny story my dad has an 01’ impreza that sat for a solid 6-7 years (just like your coworker) in a storage shed, we just got her out and running.

Yo! If you still have this, remove the entire air box assembly and replace it with a k&n cone filter. Put it directly on the throttle body. It sounds super mad! I did this to mine back in the day

EJ25's were used in the STi's, and are still used in STi's to this day. WRX's always had a 2.0L engine (EJ20). I Love these 2.5RS's, and clean ones are getting expensive, especially a coupe with a manual trans. Nice find!

Nice buy, those are like the only 2 door subarus ever made. I wouldn't be capable of wrecking it and I'm not even a big subie fan. You should do a timing belt fyi! And expect to pay 2 times the cost of a dsm timing job except with out the oem components.

Need to get into ice racing during the winter in Minnesota. Nice find and they are fun cars. Easy to get them to corner great and parts are still plentiful due to lots in common with the 2000-2007 WRX wagon. Love my 2000 2.5rs couple and I'm sure you'll love it too. One thing, look into the PRM intake for it or research Ganzflo Intake. I have tried running with the intake like you had yours and the intake temps were consistently 10-20 degrees higher than stock intake at 65-70mph. Intake temps well over 115 degrees at idle in 65 degree ambient without and 85-90 with stock intake.
