I bought a 2012 Furby! Is it better than the 2023 version?

I discovered they made Furbies in 2012! So naturally I bought one!
Is it better the newest 2023 version?
Did you have a Furby from 2012?

I love it when people review nostalgic stuff like this, and the 2012 Furbies are definitely a BIG piece of nostalgia! Fun fact, the 2012 Furbies were the first model of Furby I ever got into and inspired me to become a Furby collector because of them, they’re honestly super awesome even to this day. I enjoyed your review (even if it wasn’t perfect) and honest impressions with the 2012 Furby in comparison with the 2023 Furby. The 2012s are definitely one of the certain best models of Furby I’d highly recommend next to the original 1998 Furby, the whole potential of having personalities you can choose for each one to become and having expressive LCD eyes really made it more like a game-changer which is better because you can actually see how the Furby feels rather than what the 1998s do where they just stare at the distance. I also agree with you on how the 2023 Furby lost its charm of what Furbies are supposed to be as all the Furbies from the years of 1998-2016 had all the charm they were intended to have and when the 2023 Furby was introduced, Hasbro decided to make it lose its charm where it’s hardly a Furby anymore and is also directed towards girls rather than both genders like how Furbies were always intended for all ages and both genders, which is a huge letdown. If the past models of Furbies had the charm and HECK, even the 2012s especially had it too, why can’t the 2023 Furby have that as well which makes no sense on Hasbro’s part. There’s also other models of Furbies that you probably know or haven’t known yet besides the 2012, 1998, and 2023 Furbies which I can list what they are. There’s the 2005 Furby that is Emototronic which is a lot like the 2023 Furby when you say “Hey Furby!” and say the listed commands it has but you can also say them in Furbish for the 2005s, and they’re definitely the start of having expressive eyes but sadly like the 2023 Furbies, their voice recognition is limited. There’s the 2013 Furby Boom that is just like the 2012 Furby but has five different personalities of its own and has a lot more features which are usually depended more with its app which is called the Furby Boom app (which is also no longer available like the 2012 Furby’s app is), and you can even name the Furby Boom with the app of your choice. One thing to note is the Furby Booms are known to have a very common issue of always thinking they’re being shaken so much which gets in the way of playing which is called the tilt sensor/shaking connection issue and it’s….*ANNOYING.* But thankfully it can be fixed but would have to take apart the Furby Boom and find the tilt sensor in order to access the inside of its tilt sensor to clean it where it’ll be able to register that it’s not shaken anymore. My best friend and I are actually uploading a restoration video about that for the Furby Booms soon so everyone can watch and learn how to fix theirs with the tilt sensor issues (it also works for 2012s as well but it’s usually quiet rare for them to get it while for Booms, it’s very common lol) There’s also the 2015 Star Wars Furby Furbacca which is basically similar to the Furby Booms with having an app of their own and such, but they’re not entirely the best since it doesn’t have much content compared to the 2012s and Booms that do, and the Furbacca’s feels more like a downgraded version of the Furby Boom app with similar stuff but a few different features with the animation graphics and such. Then, there’s the iconic model that was a HUGE step of technology improvement, and that’s the 2016 Furby Connect! It’s a very unique Furby that has a light-up antenna, improved & colorized, expressive LCD eyes, and more life-like movements compared to the previous ones, and is also Bluetooth compatible. They had so much potential with their content in both the Furby and their Furby Connect World app (which is also sadly no longer available), but sadly Hasbro left both the Furby Connect and their app so rushed and unfinished. The Furby Connects were actually planned to have 7 personalities of their own which are Generic, Cat, DJ, Ninja, Pirate, Popstar, and Princess but unfortunately, only one of those personalities made it on the Furby Connects, and that’s the Generic one. The six personalities that never made it on the Connects which were supposed to be, do have their official voice lines which someone was able to surface here on RU-vid but whoever’s idea in Hasbro it was to complete rush the Furby Connects and even left their app unfinished, should be ashamed of themselves. Another result of the Furby Connects being incomplete and rushed that was a complaint about back in the year of 2016 was having a lot of glitches with the eyes and such, which was a reason why the Furby Connects didn’t do well with their sales and stopped releasing anymore Furbies for many years, until the 2023 Furby’s debut. They’re honestly way better than the 2023 Furby, and they even still had the charm of what Furby is supposed to be, and the Furby Connects also spoke a little more of Furbish than the 2023 Furbies.

@@SterlingAndrews44 thank you for all the info! I’ve been looking at quite a few on eBay because since getting the 2023, the 2012 and a 1998 one that sadly doesn’t work, I know want one from every line 😂 I really hope hasbro brings a Furby back with all the charm the old ones had!
