Sweet ride …dreams do come true…also your hard work. Coming from someone who just hit 4 million miles (accident free) been very lucky over the last 35 years.
@@allenrichiez930 Truck driving is probably the occupation with the most experienced workforce. I have 1 1/2 years but the one that taught me how to drive was my dad's cousin. He turns 56 this year and has 37 years behind the wheel. He owns his own company with 4 trucks (all rigid chassis with hooks to change gravel beds, machine beds or asphalt tubs) and 3 trailers for them. A 2018 Scania R580, a 2020 Scania R650 a 2020 Scania R660 and a 2012 Scania R490. The last truck is the only remaining truck from his old fleet of 6 trucks (2x 6-series R580, 3x 6-series R730 and the R490)
I drove a 367 with similar colors, the fenders were a metallic brown. It was originally a set up as a slam bam transfer truck, but my boss made it a truck trailer to haul roofing tile. It was a shorter wheel base than most truck trailers and had no air ride, so it was very choppy, but it was a good little truck for driving in housing tracts and delivering cement roofing tile to new and remodeled homes. That is a beautiful truck you have, I never got to drive a 389, drove a couple 367 and a 359, but no Cadillacs….nice truck, glad you can enjoy it.
I ran a 1992 with a 3406C for 3 years to get me going . It was a beautiful old truck and ran me good . That said it had its wants and needs as all older trucks will . Ordered my 21’ last fall before the covid had its grips on truck sales . Took delivery of it in Feb, with the lack of down time and the just GO EVERY DAY reliability so far . The 21’ is on pace to make me and extra 50k gross this year … makes those payments look a lot easier with that kind of results ! Good luck Driver ( I went paccar 510 ) just because of the weight , I will subscribe to your channel just to see updates on the X15
@@nicksmith7552 There is a couple reasons as to why it affects value. One reason is that larger fleets buy the vast majority of paccar powered trucks and with all of the problems with newer trucks so they are dumping them with around 400,000 miles on them, 10-15 years ago large fleets would dump them with just under a million miles on them. So there is a constant supply of trucks less then 3 years old on the second hand market. Large fleets only buy new trucks so the only people who are going to buy those used trucks are owner operators or very small fleets. Since they make the paccar engines and transmissions they do not have to source them from cummins which is more expensive. They can also sell paccar powered trucks cheaper due to future revenue from parts and services on those engines. Owner operators chose trucks for different reasons then fleets. With large fleets they only care about 3 things and those are lowest possible purchases price, lowest fuel consumption and warranty since they are going to get rid of them not long after the 3 year 300,000 mile warranty is over. Since there are fewer cummins powered trucks they command a higher price and owner operators and small fleets are going to keep them as long as they still make money.
From a man who has driven company trucks for all 32 years of my trucking career, CONGRATS on your upgrade! I wish I was a young man again, I believe I'd have at least tried the O/O route, to a least get rid of some of the 'what if's' that I live with! Good luck, I hope you make great revenue and have great success!
Congrats brother, much success to you! I've always wondered why trucks which are so expensive allow such easy access to the engine, while other vehicles open the hood from inside. I never understood that!
Nice tractor! I have a 2020 389. I Have 238,000 miles on it and it’s doing great. X15 565. I also ordered another new one (389) w/605 - x15. Should get it in November.
Lots of luck with it, beautiful truck, I’m jealous, stay safe, smartest thing you did was buying it used so you don’t have to pay that 11% FET on it, I would never buy new because of that bullshit tax
I've had 2 Pete's in my 30yrs... 83 359 and a 07 379....that 07 I got brand new...My favorite truck in all of my driving years.... Congrats young man!!
Dude, that is one sexy beast, and very well deserved. You have absolutely every right to be proud of yourself for this accomplishment. Keep'er shiny side up brother!
My husband and I were watching your video. Fabulous truck - I don’t think that have them quite like that here in England. Then obviously we don’t have the distances or the road size! Anyway I would also like to say how generous the comments are from your fellow truck drivers in the USA.
That depends, the original (the best one) was a Freightliner FL86 cab over and in 2007 they went with the Peterbilt 379 and after that they went with the Western Star 5700. In the movie Bumblebee they brought him back to the original Freightliner FL cab over which they shouldn't have ever changed to begin with.
I LOVE the color combination !!!! And a great hp rating on that Cummins !!! I admit ...I have not yet driven a 389 . I have driven 379's many times ....the company I currently work for just purchased 6 brand new 2022 389's ....the first just arrived today . My 389 will arrive in about 6 to 8 weeks from now . I am very excited to get into my new 389 !! I just subscribed to your channel and I can't wait to see your videos of this BEAUTIFUL Pete :)
Timeless design and the colors look great my man. I still can't believe the wheel base! Lol. Glad to see you so stoked. Livin the dream. Safe travels man.
Mate I did 32years in the job, and I hope that you can make a good go at it 👍 nice prime mover good luck to you, my regards and respect from Australia 🇦🇺.
I like your sled. It's all paccar. I drive a KW T-880 & a Pete 389 myself. 1 thing to look out for is the door stops top bolt gets loose & break off. Keep them tight. Use an 8mm socket to keep them tight. Thanks for sharing, drive safe. 🤠
Cheez-a-beauty, my brother. I'm ALL about getting what you want while you're young enough to enjoy it. NOW....... load that sleeper up with someone to "share the road with".
Beautiful.... just curious on your thoughts about no headache rack ? I started in 83 , back then, nobody would drive a tractor without one. I see lots without these days.
Must feel awesome! Beautiful choice and congratulations! I've only driven in the Army. Don't even have my CDL. However, that time has come and this is what I've concluded: Most old school drivers shun the idea of a newer rig. For their own respective reasons. But mainly because of eLogs. If you start out on newer rigs, with or without eLogs I guess, Would y'all agree that it will make acquiring a CDL and maintaining employment with said CDL easier?
If you drove large heavy trucks in the Army talk to the DMV. A few friends of mine who drove HET's for the Army walked into the DMV with their Army paperwork and walked out with a CDL. Worth a shot and can save some headache since you have the experience. Keep in mind this is a decade ago and laws could've changed. Best of luck!
I did most of my class A style trucking in the military. I got the waiver form signed by my commander and then took that to the dmv. It allowed me to only take the computer test and then get my cdl. No driving test required. It may depend on your state, but there was supposed to be a nationwide bill allowing this everywhere back in like 2017?
Congratulations bruh I would love to know how you were able to do everything without getting too personal I’m looking at potentially financing one just nervous and scared honestly
Hello Young Trucker. congrats & good luck with your business and yes, I do like the conventional Peterbilt's too, the last one I drove was (more than likely before you were born) in the mid-80's and did did have a 425 -CAT with a 13 speed and yes, it ran like the devil too. The only Cummins I drove back then was in a cab-over, which couldn't get out of it's own way and the only rpm you could use was ~1.300 to 1,800 or so while the CAT let you play from below 1,100 up all the way to 2,500+ rpm. At about the same time I had to use one of the first "Ant Eaters" with a 350 HP engine and a nine speed and no, I did not like to drive it too much even though it almost did turn around on a dime - sort of speak. The only thing on your new truck I don't like is that you have too many computers in it and, if I'm not mistaken, you can't run on more than one log book, what we had to do all the time to get things done having the 55 mph speed limit back then. Take care & put the hammer down!
Congratulations! If you are going to serve the public with the most vital necessity of the modern world, you might as well do it with pride, style, power, and beauty! Thank you for doing your part to keep the nation operational! I must admit, I am experiencing considerable envy.
38 000 Miles, so far so good, sounds as a good purchase, Clean it up, proper lubrication, Safety check up, you good to go, Good luck, when u drive remember to honor the good Lord, and bon voyage friend
You want the truck to stay real clean on the inside? Take your shoes off and leave em between your door and seat, my dad did it and if his company takes his day cab 567 and gives him one with a bunk (he would like a 389) he’ll bring back the no shoes rule in his rig
I feel personally that flat tops are the best. They make the most use of space. Unless you’re a driver who likes to do jumping jacks inside the truck😉. Nice ride.
Badass truck 👍🏼👍🏼 hopefully they didn’t do a mark up on it. Your truck has low miles. 💪🏼 everything is high right now. 2020 basic used trucks 3-400k miles 130k prices here in California. Ridiculous
@@ansv3340 Big Rig engines usually have a much thicker consistency oil 15W40 and have a 50,000 miles oil change life. Big Rigs also have more then one oil filter. The filters are also much larger than a small car engines filter. Diesel engines also have more oil capacity. Hope that helps.
@@the305hauler i guess you dont understand sarcasm or jokes when you hear or read them ))) , in written form, whenever you see brackets ))) a the end of the sentence , they mean smiley faces and indicate that whatever written before is a joke ! But I dont think you would ever want to go 50K on the same oil .. Diesel oil also works as coolant, being exposed to higher temperature it loses its lubricating ability , thus said i would not go more than 20K on the same oil. OIl is cheap , truck motor on other hand does cost like a small house.
