Honda shifters are truly no joke, my S2000 is just as good, if not better, than the 991.2 speedster I drove. They seriously know what they’re doing. Congratulations on the purchase.
Agreed! I have an ap2 with the modifry short shift kit and nicely weighted shifter. One of the best feelings in the world. With hondas its like the actual shift forks themselves is in your hand. Crisp, and snickety snick. The only other thing that compares is maybe the gt3 with the solid copper bushings. Or maybe the G63 amg. I use mayonnaise when i make grilled cheeses instead of butter
As a AP1 owner it’s one of the best gearboxes I’ve ever owned. Makes up for the lack of power the car has as you’re having too much fun to realize it’s only 240hp.
@@xL0stKIlah Sure, but imagine what those maintenance costs were like on the E92. I consider this car considerably "cheaper" still despite it having a higher book value as of right now. He could drive this everyday and likely won't ever have to worry about anything besides oil, breaks, and tires.
@Brandon Bowman Plus when he gets tired and wants to trade it in for the FL5 TypeR, he will still get a princely sum as trade in value for this Si, as they're in high demand right now & irrespective of the fact that they're manual, the men who want them want them. Will be joining the Si crew in a short bit with that beloved Sonic Grey Pearl & summer tyres to make everything sweet
The fact that you drive such extremely exotic amazing cars and are so excited about this speaks volumes about the Civic SI. - S2000 and Civic SI owner in Medford
@@alannguyen5050 How many Bmw’s have you owned? I currently own 3 and had 5 more they need frequent oil changes mostly. The E92 M3 is a special car with a special engine, just change rod bearings every 60-70k miles and upgrade throttle actuators gears. Other than that it is a solid car. Here in Greece new it was about 100,000$ so I expected to pay more in servicing actually. Can’t compare a car with half the original sticker price to the M3. I appreciate the engineering of Honda in this Civic Si but for me it just can’t even come close to the M3 package. 🙏🏼
@@alh06 Alright, maybe weather affects these cars electronics somehow but here in Greece with mild winters and low humidity throughout the year I had no issues with my M3.
Cheers to a true car guy who doesn't give 2 shits about what others think! Admirable move and I totally agree. From one //M guy to another 🤙🏾. There's also a lot of room for improvement which makes it even more exciting to look forward to in the future.
@@andynaka I bought only new cars for the last 25 years so I know what I'm talking about. Outside exotics I've owned cars from every manufacturer out there. The only problems I had were with Subaru and Honda. My WRX STI had a problem with the A/C with only 500 miles on it and the 2006 Honda Accord I bought new for my wife had the transmission replaced with only 16K miles on it and an array of other issues. So from my experience Honda is the most unreliable car maker, but of course I just assumed that was a lemon. That said the suggestion that you could buy new cars that don't start every day is pure nonsense.
Sincerely, thank you for this video. Being practical and a car enthusiast seem to be at odds these days. It's refreshing to see someone enjoying everyday cars and appreciating the advancements that have gone into modern vehicles. Also, it's nice to see an enthusiast enjoying front wheel drive. I love all drive trains, but the sentiment is rarely shared by my gearhead brethren. Congrats!
Such a good looking car. This is the first time I’ve ever thought a civic looks cool. Especially with it being a manual. I’m happy Honda hasn’t given MT’s the boot yet.
I see why you dumped the bmw and got something more reliable and newer as a daily driver, but with your driving style, I am absolutely shocked that you chose a civic si over some of the other newer sports cars. Regardless, I am glad to see content on this car as it really adds that variety to your fleet!
@potato i thought about the 400z and 86. Price wise, the 86 is right there with the Si. Obviously, one is more of a dedicated sports car. Seems like he wanted classy, reliable, and fun, and the si delivers just that. The si will be better for snow as well since his other cars are already rwd
Very happy with my 10th gen si, handles extremely well. Last summer in malibu on stunt road, i was able to follow a Mclaren 765LT going downhill staying two car lengths behind for a majority of the downhill portion. Owner was nice enough to chat at the end of the run and explained he was only pushing at around 7/10th's (while i of course was pushing my car to the max) but was impressed by how my Honda could keep up. He was super cool and gave me a ride along after which was the time of my life and as a young car enthusiast something I will never forget
As a fellow '22 Si owner (and owner of a 2001 E55 AMG) I completely relate to your personal car journey. The Civic is an absolute gem of a practical enthusiast package. Its handling and chassis are superb. After 4 months of ownership I'm still looking for excuses to take it out for a drive.
Yeah I just got a CX-30 Turbo after selling a stinger and almost getting an X6M at one point.I can buy cars in this price range outright and cars have improved a lot in the last few years.I think I am done blowing a ton of money on higher end cars--this last gas price hike also shows what a waste of money it is--and BTW these 4 cylinder Turbo cars are very fast for what they are--I can hit triple digit speeds in mt CX while still returning almost 30 mpg--nice car and years of trouble free and cheap driving. I am also a high end driver to some of my freinds who are well off--if they want to go drink at a BBQ or nightclub and want their lambo or hellcat there safely i go and hang out and drive so a few times a year i get to drive super nice cars anyway.
Now that's the type of inspiration and real life feedback I've been trying to get from all the videos I watched. Was kicking myself badly for looking a lot more into the Japanese cars(Si, GR86, BRZ, GR Corolla Circuit Edition, VA Subaru WRX STI, FL5 Type R) instead of focusing on getting an F87 M2 Comp. But seeing all the comments under these 11th gen Si videos has really given me the confidence I needed to temporarily decamp and stray into the Honda fold. For someone whose top 3 things when shopping for a long term daily is(Fun, Practical, Sporty), it's going to be really hard to find a daily which beats this in the next 5yrs.
Honda’s were never about quickness. Most people trash Honda because they don’t rocket from 0 to 60. What they don’t realize is that these are some of the most well-rounded cars available. And most importantly, despite acceleration numbers, they’re fun to drive.
I’m in the exact same boat and have been thinking about offloading my BMW for this very same car. I miss the manual experience and could do without the expensive repairs of a 150K plus German vehicle. It’s been a fun experience, but it may be time to move on to less expensive and time consuming pastures. Good choice! 👍🏾
my e90 w 208k miles, im in the same predicament, but i think it cheaper and more engaging overall to maintain and keep the bmw forever. Just put a used tranny in it at 205k for $500. Trans had 89k, this car will go forever
@@chrisgreencbc a new trans at 200k? Seems early to me? Maybe you’re a bit rougher on your cars than some (that’s OK too if that’s your jam). I do like maintaining cars of any type though. I had just as much fun maintaining my civic, although I haven’t had to do a whole lot, and nothing I’d consider major. To each their own.
As a former 6th Camaro ZL1 owner to a FK8 Civic Type R owner: I approve. Fantastic choice and I think having the more reliable and easy to own (a luxury in of itself) car will be a more enjoyable car, and with a great driving experience!
I had a 5th gen… someone smashed into me so it was taken from me.. but it’s not a real ideal daily driver… With kooks full headers Exhaust I’ll say it was the best sounding car … ever . Yeah daily drivers are cool. But there’s nothing like a V8 and that power … to leave mostly any car in the dust
The car is super fun! Great video! I have the same color as well. They make way more power then Honda claims. Mine just put down 225.7hp and 218 ft lbs. We are making a bunch of performance parts for it now.
I just looked through the comments to see if someone posted this, these Si's are putting down over 10% more horsepower and torque than Honda rated them (it's really close to 15% too)
Suprised you went with the 22 Si. This is also my daily and its wonderful; fuel efficient (important at this time), fun, sporty, and reliable. Can't go wrong.
I like how he talks about the civic as poor mans/ every mans car when sticker price is at 36,000$ . An every mans car this generation is a Kia Soul / huyndai
Being a 17 yo car enthusiast that can’t wait to get his first car, let me tell you how much of a great RU-vidr you are. You are so good at transmitting your passion and I love how you make it clear that a fun car isn’t necessarily a 100k car (even though 30k isn’t cheap haha) Anyways just keep doing this content because that’s so refreshing and very enjoyable Cheers on the civic, it’s a beauty
Also note: Despite the car being a lot less expensive, it is still very involving and communicative to drive. Additionally, with the smaller engine, comes more gas mileage (save a bit of $$ on long trips), and you can drive it harder without getting arrested. A lot of more expensive cars I have driven are not as communicative or "go-kart-y" because they weigh more, and have more insulation / isolation. Example: Pretty much every single modern BMW (M-cars to SUVs) has completely dead steering. This doesn't mean they are slow, or unpredictable. The M5 is a very well sorted car that can do things that many smaller sports cars can't, even excluding top speed, range, highway comfort... However, the chassis feel is not as good as a small civic. You know what's going on, and its reaction is predictable. However, the civic is more engaging.
look into the fiesta ST or Focus St if you want a reliable 4cyl turbo 6 speed as your first car. stay away from euro anything its costly to fix like big man said. save and work hard u got this
@@bawlout9367 I remember reading somewhere that the fiesta was actually engineered primarily in Europe. It certainly behaves a lot like euro cars. Needless to say, if you want top reliability (good for first car and resale value), Honda is pretty much your best bet. I mean, the fords are inexpensive, but the civics are bulletproof.
Congratulations Tedward! The new Civic Si is one of the few vehicles under $30,000 that is still incredible. That McGovern sticker gives me hives hahaha
It's quite the endorsement. Really shows at the end of the day enthusiasts just want a good, fun, communicative car, not an expensive one that goes super fast with high limits
To be fair, if you have ever driven one of the 10th gen civics (or 11th gen if this is such), they are reaaaalllllyyyy fun. Source: Had a 10th gen SI that I drove daily, and I enjoyed being able to actually DRIVE it without breaking the speed limit. Also drove a friend's 450hp type R, it was also very fun, just way faster. Comparing that to a f30-gen BMW 340i, and a '21 m5 competition; the BMWs, while great and quite a bit of fun to drive, are just too fast to really enjoy on the roads. Having only 200hp, I can max it out all the time, whereas in the BMWs, I can't max them out without getting arrested.
Exact color I would get. Initially I had a hard time getting excited about the engine in the 11th gen coming from a K20Z3, but seems like the overall package is a winner.
Love the video! These so called "car enthusiast" who always bash on slow cars don't understand it is not just about speed. It is about how fun the car is!
Sometimes the car is so slow that it’s almost painful to drive. For example my daily is a 2016 FRS and although it’s fun on turns and such, i do must of my driving on the highway/streets. In these scenarios it’s a pain to drive cause it’s so slow.
@@jonathan_gee yeah absolutely, only question is what car could that potentially be? 😭 I have been looking at the 370z, g37 coupe or sedan, c6 corvettes. However one I might have to toss in the mix despite being on the slower side may be the civic si purely for reliability. Still gotta figure out which generation though.
Reliability can't be taken for granted. There are tons of exciting cars out there that are also reliable. There's no reason to compromise. I absolutely loved my 8thgen civic Si. It had an 8000RPM+ redline but still had the reliability of a civic. That car might be the best combination of excitement and reliability of any car ever.
@@Daniel-mw7pu My 07 Si grinded in 2-3 consistently until I changed the clutch master cylinder to that of an EM1 and switched to amsoil synchromesh. I don't think the issue was overblown, I just think it was a luck of the draw situation. It's also unfortunate that if you don't work on your own vehicle it's a really expensive fix, and you'll be lucky to find someone who will install an aftermarket CMC instead of an OEM (8th gen) CMC. I did it all myself, but I could see how that would suck if you take it somewhere, because it's kind of a pain to get to it. Now, 30k miles later, I'm supercharged making 380whp and I haven't grinded since, even on the drag strip.
There is a misconception where if you’re a car enthusiast you’re supposed to daily all these turbo v8’s and get lots of performance parts, which is just not true. That civic is beautiful hopefully it serves you well!
I’m lowkey bummed by the fact that you sold your E92, but at least you have something more reliable to replace that thing (and something that’s worry-free to drive around). Btw, I like Honda’s new gong. It’s hella classy compared to the ones before. On the other hand, I’m glad you kept your 911 and M5 though.
I live next to Mendon and am always on your roads. If I see an "enthusiast" car (which is rare), I look through the windshield to see if it's you. Haven't seen you yet... As for trading you M3 for the new Si, I think people have to remember that you have access to lots of performance cars and have experience with some VERY special ones. The novelty of owning one isn't the same to you as it would be for most people. The Si is practical, fun and you can explore the limits in normal everyday driving. If you want to be pinned in your seat, you'll just wait for the next review. Good luck with it and look for me on the local roads in my 996 or C7 GS!
As both a BMW and an 03 Civic SI Owner, I say this is a win. Sure the E92 is faster, but the inputs of the Civic SI are so good. At any speed, it's enjoyable to drive and will probably outlast you
"Canada got better options" Well US got better options than Europe. In Europe there is no manual transmission :/ and only hybrid engine options I think. Such a shame to ruin a fun "sports" car like that.
The SI isn't available in Europe in the first place. The type R used to be Europe and Asia exclusive and Honda only gave us the SI which is a north america exclusive. You are still getting the type R but the SI has never existed in Europe.
Both my 98 Accord V6 and 04 Accord I4 have become oil-leaking monsters, and while they’re still reliable-I’m definitely eyeing a new Si as a replacement. This video definitely further persuades that decision.
Makes me wonder if the oil pan seal is shot. If so definitely worth getting a new one because that job is fairly delicate but its something a honda certified tech could bang out with ease
The V6 in Honda had uneven cooling within engine bay which Honda learned from. From the rear hot bank and the top intake area, heat is bad for gaskets. Also all gaskets will leak after years have gone by. Gaskets dry and shrink. This engine was given space all around for nice cooling. The car runs too cool for Canadian driving in my opinion and I don't know if it has shutters but it may need them for arctic temps. My 17 has 100k miles and is dry all around. No oil leaks at all. Note that VW/Audi and Ford use plastic oil pans that suffer poor strength and bad sealing. Aluminum conducts and radiates heat better and Honda engines keep aluminum oil pans. They even add strength. Up top Honda valve cover is plastic but it does not matter there as much there.
@@RunnJake I’m sure that’s the issue with the 98-in 4 years of ownership, the oil pan gasket has been replaced well over 4 times-I’m just wondering if it’s worth it to continue replacing it.
Will miss the sound of the m3 but happy that your able to save on repairs and hopefully gas. These cars are oddly fun to drive. Best of luck can’t wait to see what comes next
Nice! The new SI has really grown on me excited to see the new type r. I dont think your trade was strange at all. I remember when I sold my e46 M3 to get a 2017 WRX and to many that was a downgrade but for many of the same reasons you mentioned here I looked at it as a solid upgrade. Its nice not having to worry about mechanical issues and electrical nuances every other week haha
A little painful watching this :( my 2022 Civic got totaled last November when someone rammed into me at a red light. Initial insurance payment didnt cover the cost of a replacement bc of inflation and I needed a car right away so I had to buy a used 2019 jetta :( the new civics are amazing. I absolutely LOVED that car. If I ever get another I'm going to get it in sonic gray pearl. You made the right choice with that color. SO happy for you!!
what the fck!? I would have been heated...how tf does that work? It's not your fault there is inflation...they should have gotten you the exact same car as a replacement. My Si got rear ended last august and it thought it was totaled because the rear was completely pushed in, but the insurance payed for the repair and it ended up being 15K...I would have been so pissed if they had totaled it because a new Si would cost way more than what they would have offered me
@@brokentradgedy That's not how insurance works, unfortunately. If insurance deems your car as totaled, they pay you what they consider the ACV (Actual Car Value). This is based on how much similar cars in your area (similar miles, similar trims, etc.) are being sold for at that time. Legally, that's all an insurance company HAS to pay you for. For the most part, this rarely results in getting a brand new car of the same make/model. But it is usually enough to buy a used car of the same make/model/year/miles as your original car.
@@jv3600 well yea...used Si's in my area were selling for 29-31k...but I can gaurantee they only deemed the value of mine at 24K so basically I would have to pay a lot of money out of pocket to get my same car back
@@brokentradgedy No joke ruined my life for 2 months. Im beat up about it every day. I hate the jetta. Insurance company is only responsible for the value of the car when it was purchased. I did get $5k additional back from them through arbitration, but that was months after the car was totaled. The damage came out to $16k and I had an LX so that was more than 2/3rds the value of the car (when it was purchased). I considered trying to trade in my jetta for a new civic with the extra 5k but 1. car salesman are the most disgusting people on the planet and im really tired of dealing with them and 2. jetta has had check engine light on & i don’t feel like dealing with it. whole thing sucks so much lmao
I did a similar thing. I had purchased a used Corvette. I had it for two years and traded it for a Mazda Miata. Two reasons: many mechanical problems occurring, and it had an automatic transmission so I got bored with it. I purchased the Miata in 2017. I'm still enjoying it, even though I use it as my daily driver. I have no regrets.
Gonna miss your m3 therapy videos but excited to see civic therapy drives! Seems that a lot of automotive channels are buying the new civic si for their personal car or the gr86 or even veloster N. The new cars coming out that aren't bank destroyers are honestly incredible. Good choice!
@@closg9309 trust me I know, its a massive massive shame, civic type r was never truely budget but now it's just out of the question for me with these prices
I heard turbo lag and rev hang 🥺. The Si is being marked up 5k or more. Hard to justify paying 36-37 with taxes and fees for 200HP I can’t even get dealers to let me test drive it
Absolutely love the newer Civics, I think it reflects the golden era of Honda a little IMO. Love yours as well, great choice with waiting for this color instead of rolling with the red.
My wife has one, 2007 Si coupe. It is indeed fun to drive. I sold my 99 Prelude with a jdm blue top H23A for a 2014 Accord Sport 6MT. I loved that Lude but needed the space. My wife is now eyeballing the 11th gen Si in SGP color..and I’m all for it. I think it has a mature look for a Civic, looks clean and not obnoxious looking compared to the 10th gens. I love the way 8th gens pick up though.
Im surprised the new Si has less power and that it doesn't have heated seats, fog lights and dual zone climate control because the Gen 10 did and cost less ($24k). Looks like its missing the camera on the passenger mirror as well. That was a selling point for me when I got the Gen 10 Si Don't get me wrong, it looks nice and way better than the previous one and it seems to be fantastic. But I'm surprised that its $4k more expensive with less power and less equipment. Best color IMO is the Aegean Blue. I wish there was a Coupe version
We Canadian get all those features lol maybe except for the camera I think they took that off. For me orange is the the color since it's only available for the Si.
I watched all of this video because I love the roads you are driving on. I also agree with everything that was said in this video especially about not having to buy an expensive car to have fun while worrying about depreciation. I always said if I was rich I would rather buy 3 camrys than one $100,000 car.
It was so much fun when I was driving my new Mercedes C class ... 1 month later I was bored as hell with it!! It was a boring 4 cylinder AMG and I NEEDED to drive my BMW E93 M3 again ... When I drove this beast I realized how magic and incredible BMW that driving experience is ... I don't care if I have to pay a fortune to run it, the pleasure it gives me is totally worth it!
Mid cycle refresh for the 11th gen around 2025 will probably have all the missing features like the fog lights, heated seats, etc. That's the one to get. Will probably get some better styling updates too.
I dont know why someone would go from a RWD car to a FWD... Especially one without a handbrake. I wonder if there could be a kit to fit a manual handbrake on new civics , I bet quite a lot of people would get that.
@@schmid1.079 "rwd is more dangerous" Ah yes, the lie told by everyone who's not experienced in driving. The correction on that sentence is "rwd is more fun" . It's the driver who makes the situation dangerous, its not the car, the car doesnt drive itself.
Great choice! I was shooting for a new SI, but all the dealers around me were charging markup which I'm not willing to tolerate. So I ended up with a 2018 WRX, and I'm quite satisfied.
As the owner of a 2018 base WRX, I can't imagine you got a good deal on a used WRX. Used WRX/STI prices were bad years ago when I was shopping for one and only got worse with this chip shortage. Used prices were so bad that I ended up buying a new one.
It's so good seeing both you and thetopher going back to the roots of enjoyable cars that can be used for everyday use that will not break the bank. Love to hear it, also funny jab at the "Bought the cheapest lambo in the country" title monologue ahaha. It's not that those cars are bad, but these seem the most enjoyable and the most relatable! Can't wait to see more videos!
Congratulations on the new Honda! I will miss the M3 winter videos. But I hear you about the reliability. Every time I take my E-92 M3 on a road trip I have the stress of putting mileage on it and the worry that something will pop up on the dash. So far so good though.
Swap out your M3 for a 3 series w/ that ttV6 awd & a stick shift seems like thats their best engine of the last couple decades overall AND the awd is helpful in winter and it’ll be faster too! Personally never a fan of that gutless (down low) V8 M3 but I do understand the affinity for it w/ the lofty redline, good looks, & stick shift etx
After owning a m5, a m3 and a m6 over a course of 12 years, i just bought a 911 and never looked back. Barely any non wear and tear maintenance. I love m cars but when you drive the sh!t out them, it’s always at the shop for all kinds of problems.
Went from a BMW 323 Touring to a '05 honda civic LX. One of the best decisions I've made. The car starts every time and I only fill up about once a month. So excited to watch this journey with you! Congrats!
I also happen to have a 323, but an E36 323ti (Compact). It has never missed a beat... and it's pretty frugal too, 28-30 mpg on average with a few enthusiastic accelerations here and there.
On top of the timing belt, the tiny struts that blow out like clockwork on Northern potholes. And the exhaust that will most certainly rot out. Those are three issues that are nearly guaranteed to happen within 100k, and cost at least $3k to fix properly. Undersized Honda batteries, starters, and alternators go out twice as often. The bmw does not have those problems in any capacity. I'm not saying everybody should have a bmw, but magic Honda build quality and reliability is often pretty overstated. The e46 is also a standout bmw for cheap, good quality parts and dependability. I've seen a 99 Acura tl far eclipse a 99 bmw 328i on lifetime service costs and breakdowns. However, the bmw e92 m3 of tedward, and many other bmw's, are absolutely not known for cheap good quality parts and dependability, they are nightmares.
I would much rather see somebody enjoying driving rather than bragging about the unobtainable vehicles they have. Thanks for keeping it real here in the pot hole laiden streets of New England!
The worst thing for a woman who owns a BMW is spending tons of dollars at the dealership for technical reviews. Imagine paying a Louis Vuitton bag/wallet each time at the dealer? My BMW 328i is a great car but the money we pay in Brazil is sick, USD 1,300 for a technical review? Not my cup of tea! Your video changed my mind, I was thinking about an electric like Ioniq 5 or Kia EV6. I will test drive this Civic Si if Brazil imports it. Thank you for sharing your opinion!
Great choice, congrats. Value-wise, this seems like one of the best fun daily drivers one can buy right now, and it's manual! I agree with you on the interior, that's also a great reason to pick this over something like a GTI with all the touch controls and plasticky bits. Hope it treats you well - I bet the trips to the gas pumps are way cheaper than the M3 lol - especially with the gas prices right now.
I got a '22 Si in the same color. Combined i have gotten 31 mostly exclusively driving in the city. On a longer trip to the mountains I have gotten 40mpg. It's a great car. Perfect for daily and really fun too! He is spot on with the shifter. Feels really smooth.
I think the 2022 Civic Si is hands-down the more practical one with 4 doors and the interior is certainly better especially for the Canadian market, but the GR86 is RWD with a proper handbrake and looks better with an NA engine. Leaning toward buying the GR86 over the Civic Si but I just can't get behind buying a 1.5T engine in the Civic. Wish they had offered it with a 2-2.5L NA engine with 8k rpm redline.
I got rid of my BMW twin turbo 550i V8 piece of shit and over priced and in the shop every three months with a DRIVE TRAIN malfunction! Thank you for posting this becuase I AGREE the Honda Civic SI may be my next car. And it kills me to say it. No more German cars - constantly in repair and in the shop!
That thing is beautiful! I haven’t seen any yet here in the Midwest but that paint and the lines are so surprising for a civic. Might just have to keep an eye out for one once prices regulate a bit
It's actually a riddle to me, that you sold a RWD car for a FWD car. My brain actually can't stopped working on that thought. Anyway, i hope you have nice ride with the Civic. Editions: I really like the look of it, except of the screen that just stands there like a cheap tablet. Nice to see that it has a Manual transmission.
I can hear the joy and excitement in your voice! I was looking for an e46 or e92 m3. But I think I'm sold on this... Will wait to see what the type R is like first
Just pulled up on this exact car 🚗 today in my 97 civic e.k.sedan ..and smoked his arse. Yup d16y8 smoked this thing ...way to heavy but glad u finally got smart and bought a Honda.
I seriously think you made an excellent and smart decision, i can't wait to see more content about this car. I really love BMW, but i'm so afraid of the maintenance. This, however, is more realistic with my situation and i enjoy content that is relatable with my lifestyle. Keep it up, i like what you do, what you say and what you are! Have a great day everybody!
Wait. If you want an amazing, reliable, Japanese built sports car with an excellent six-speed manual, isn’t the answer always Miata??? 😉 I’ve always loved the Si, even the absolutely bizarre ‘02 model. Congrats!
i got my new civic sport a couple months ago and i love it, definitely love the new look, the upgraded suspension and the safety features of this car is crazy. definitely made the right choice imo
@Tedward I forgot to mention, you may want to look in to chiptuning the Honda. My Skoda has proven to be more economical and drives sportier that way too. Might save on fuel too!
I'm turning 17 in 4 days, getting my license on September 9th which will be exactly 1 year after my permit. Yes ik it's late, but I'm so excited that I will be able to look into the driveway and see my car and be able to drive
Good on you Ted! I just ditched my 2020 Corolla Hybrid for a 2022 3 series cause it’s my treat after my divorce and I’ve always wanted a rwd car. Anyway drive what you like. My 330i has a turbo too and mileage is decent. Puts a smile on my face to floor it!
There is something about a car that just works. I live tinkering with cars, but more to add fun parts not constantly fixing broken shit. I put a deposit on a GR86 instead of the SI. But similar idea
This reminds me of how I felt back in 1983 when the Honda dealer called to let me know he had just received 3 new Preludes, and I could choose (was on a waiting list for that 2nd gen Lude). It felt special at the time, and I looked forward to rowing the precise 5 speed with a double wishbone suspension and no tech nannies. Good luck with that sweet Civic.
No, you bought the wrong car to begin with, and then when it kept taking sabbaticals you got fed up and went for a substitute. Perhaps had you bought a performance automobile from a reliable brand / or year, you might not be here.
Feels like Tedward has that enthusiasm of flying a plane again!!! I see Topher got the BRZ and you now have the SI. I got a 2022 elantra n line and that fun factor or just wanting to take a drive is so relatable. Love the channel!!!
Congrats... traded a piece of overengineered shit for a dependable car. Might not give you as many thrills, but will be friendly to your wallet and will not rip you off everytime you visit a garage.
Having owned a 2001 BMW 540i (6MT), I can say that the great driving experience was kinda cooled by the time and cost of maintenance. On average, it was $2,000 and 5 days a year for several years. Totally get trying Japanese for a change. Have an MX-5 ND 6MT now. Much happier.
Heartbreak to see the E92 go but a big smile to see this come in! As a kid soon to be an adult, I'm looking at cars that aren't too far from what I'll be able to afford one day (but I occasionally dream like one does) and.. I might actually want a Honda now, more affordable with an enthusiastic spectra that you wouldn't notice first glance? Sounds good to me! And seeing you happy always brings a smile to my face, It's been a while since I've heard you this happy, been watching for around 5 or so years, and it's great to hear/see this era. I wish you thousands of miles (feels weird to say as a European) of joy with the fresh Honda! PS, hurry up with those 600 miles, wanna hear this thing roar! :)
Oh nice man! Waited 5 months for mine. Got the pearl white one and the dealer has a shop that added the heated seats. Really nice ride so far. I might undercoat it with fluid film being in New England.
What a fantastic looking and driving car! So impressed with these. Also, love your philosophy on vehicles. It's been a personal struggle of not having a new or cool enough vehicle because I like to keep expenses low, but it's great reinforcement that good cars don't have to be expensive cars :)
man I have spent 500$ on a car and put around 200 into it to get it road legal and that was some of the most fun ive ever had. as long as your having fun in your tin box fuck what the others see on the outside Haha!
