@@MrSaamman varies based on condition. You would be getting a really terrible condition gx460 w/ about 80k miles for under 25k. Consider how crazy the car market is now. You would even be shelling out quite a bit for a nice used lexus gx460.

@@hassyg4083 a warranty isn't for the life of the vehicle, its only for a certain amount of miles. And after that, your paying out of pocket with any necessary repairs. Tedward said he wanted a vehicle that would last 300k miles trouble free, and this old model will certainly do that. The new model will come with uncertainty in terms of reliability, while the old v8's are proven and are known to last forever.

You made a wise decision too! I was in the same dilemma of purchasing either a 2023 or a 2024 but once I discovered that the V8 was going to be discontinued in 2024, my decision was easy I went with the tried and true V8 no regrets either. I love this vehicle.!

Wife got a GX 460 about a year ago, and it's been fantastic. We love it for road trips. Zero back pain on those comfy seats, plenty of power and space for everything we need.

1:35 incorrect, 4Runner's 4WD is different on each trim. The LIMITED trim is a full time 4WD with torsen. The SR5 trims are RWD with part time 4WD using a knob with 4H & 4L. And the two TRD trims are also RWD, but with a hand actuated lever to switch between 2 and 4WD.

Fellow GXer here. Bought a new 2023 Eminent Pearl Blackline Edition almost a year ago. Safe to say that it’s the best vehicle I’ve ever owned. It’s just so rock solid and rides silky smooth. Already put over 17k miles on it. Only gripe is the MPG. Will be keeping mine for years to come. Enjoy the new ride man!!

Congratulations Ted. I have a 22 GX gray over red interior. Car feels indestructible. You may want to update the interior lights, etc with leds, etc. Plenty of videos on YT. Of course people will say you should have bought the new one but the GX550 appears to have less Lexus and more Toyota at least in the interior. Love the old school gauges and physical buttons. The last Toyota V8 in a truck will make this very desirable down the road IMHO. As Savageeses’s video on the GX460 sums up “sometimes the old ways are best”…

Totally agree with your observations about the 2034 GX- the pre-production models appear to be more 4Runner in exterior and interior appearances than the present luxury focused GX. It seems like the 2024 GX is mainly focused on the off-roaring community and if I wanted to do off-ridding I would not do it in a $70-$80K GX, instead I would buy a new model 4Runner for halftime price!

Happy for you. I have a 2017 LX myself and am looking to add an F90 M5, this video makes me feel a little better about it. I felt kind of bad that I could easily get a sports car to complement my Lexus but I still want some practicality from the second car. And I want the power to accomplish almost any pass under 4000 rpm. Cheers mate

We bought our 2023 GX 460 in Oct of 2023. Ours is the caviar exterior with the red leather guts, but we got the luxury package so we got captain chairs in the 2nd row. It stickered at 74k but we ended up getting for 68k. I miss the 38 gal tank that I had in my 21 f150 platinum but that's about it. We have 1200 miles on it right now and we're getting 19.2 mpg.

Nice choice. I owned a 2006 470 and now own a 2015 460. I plan on passing down the 460 to my son when he turns 16 in five years then possibly buying a 2023 for myself - unless the new generation turns out to be something special. It’s just tough to beat the simple V8 in this generation.

I just had one of these in the blackout package for a loaner car while my 2021 IS350 was in the shop. I was impressed. It’s a great balance of old school and modern amenities. It’s a real sweetheart. I think these will go down as a kind of unicorn and will be sought after years from now.

I bought a 23 GX Premium plus and love this thing. I agree with you about piling miles, the GX is a comfy cruiser. And no turbos with all the massive plumbing needed to cool and lube everything. I’m sure Lexus will make turbos reliable as possible in a few years. Until then how nice to get the last of this gen. Nothing but a win.

Congrats on your new GX!! I owned a 2017 GX a few years ago and loved the way it drove. I think the shifts are really smooth and the way the engine feels, just very buttery and creamy. I did however recently buy a 2023 Toyota 4 Runner Limited though and couldn't be happier. I hooked up a Pedal Commander do it to take away the lag when you press down on the gas and it's a night and day difference. I think the GX drove a little nicer but not enough to sway me away from the looks of the 4 Runner which I absolutely love. I also prefer the way the 4 Runner trunk opens up as opposed to the GX swinging door. If I could have one thing from the GX, it's that steering wheel!! Loved how old school looking it was but it also very nice to the touch. Either way you can't go wrong with either car, cars that will last for 10 plus years EASY!!

When I really think about the practicality of things living in the frozen north a 4x4 toyota or lexus would be my dream daily. The gas prices with my old SUV were absolutely destroying me though so I had to ditch it for a mid size sedan. I wasn't really using all the interior space save for a couple times but having all that extra weight on snow tires made it a tank in the winter even though it was only FWD.

Just sold my 1998 4Runner Limited with rear locker. The cruise control stock was the same architecture and functionality as this GX, in a 25 years year old vehicle. I know this is the case for pretty much every Toyota in that same timeframe, but there is something to be said about quality legacy plastic parts in consumer goods. As a plastics engineer myself, I love to see the decision to keep the old part geometry (and thus the old injection mold, not necessarily the old material) because it is "perfect." The alternative is to redesign the part to fit the design facade of the vehicle for every generation. It makes me very happy when we get vehicles like this in 2023 which have been refined for decades, but never gave up their DNA. This is such a nice purchase. I as well will be driving another Toyota 4Runner in the Boston area, and I intend on enjoying it for as many years as possible.

I have a 2020 gx and I'm not convinced that you need a lift. If you get a nice covert bumper and some running boards you should be great! It's the same platform as the 4runner and once you fix the chin you have decent approach. Stock you can also fit some 32s (just replace the 'notorious bolt in the fender well), which will give you another inch of ground clearance.

I glad you bought this and provided this video. This is the truck that I’ve been considering as a replacement for my NX200t - red interior and all. We don’t live in a snowy location, but it would be nice to have AWD and a tow package for moving things around our property. your videos with the a spec integra in Arizona convinced me to get one in white over red interior and its been so great! definitely a classy spec for sure! btw if you're ever in Western NY, I recommend checking out Ithaca and Watkins Glen, lots of great scenery, waterfalls, and some pretty hidden gems of restaurants!

If I had to guess, the break-in period is most likely 1000 km, or 621 miles. That's what it is on most "older" Lexus models on sale. But once you've hit like 300, 400 miles you're probably OK. 😊

Regarding the blinker thing, I highly recommend the Smart Tap by Diode Dynamics! It’s a flasher relay that replaces the factory one. It adds multiple blinks when you tap your turn signal, adds strobe effects to your hazards, and lastly accommodates leds without hyper flash

This is such a good buy! The spec goes well with your civic too, white exterior, red interior. I sort of see this like an understated G-Wagon as it’s got all the luxuries from a lexus while still having good off-road capability and being reliable. I like you mention the full time AWD as that must be reassuring when it’s raining or snowing as rwd is always slightly worrying. I wish I lived in the USA, doing a 300+ mile road trip without continuous road works/ average speed cameras like the UK must be so good. Your videos are so good man whatever the topic👍👍👍

The manual 3rd row is the way to go. It will not break (electronics) . I know Lexus doesn’t really break, but the best part is its so much faster to deploy.

Welcome to the truck club! I got a 99 Dodge Durango my parents had since new. Definitely not as luxurious as a GX though. Although it has a nice spec with flame red and brown cloth. Plus at the time they where one of the better handling trucks. Although this was before the GX460.

I had a GX470 that I traded in for an RX350. Dealership gave me a 2023 GX460 with atomic silver and red leather. New GX is much improved from the old one. This is a very good vehicle. Feels like a tank but drives buttery smooth. It handles curbs surprisingly well unlike the old ones. Love the sound of the V8. Good job.

Funny, that is one reason why I went with the Lux, but many that have the Nuluxe say they like it better than, and it wears better than leather. "Nu Luxe" "synthetic leather", I'm not convinced, but what ever. The real leather will last me my lifetime.

Great taste! I have an FK8 CTR and opted for a ‘23 solar octane TRD Pro 4Runner as a daily. Considered a nori green GX black line edition. GX is a much nicer truck, was just too refined for my taste (+ no roll down rear window). Recommend you taking it to Krown in Leominster to get it sprayed ASAP. I’m super picky, had just PPFed/ceramic coated my 4Runner, and they applied it as clean as I could have imagined.

Awesome combo. Did exactly the same Eminent White over Rioja Red on a 2023 too, and love the mix. No boring bland silver, gray, beige, black… Great daily & such a tank, and so much smoother, better handling and more legroom than my LX600 before. Flawless perfect CarPlay without wireless trash new iterations, and easy features throughout.

My mom drove one of these for a few years when I was in elementary school. An 18 wheeler hit a tree a year or so into ownership and tipped it onto the roof. When they cut it up and lifted it off of the car, there were only major scratches. Frame was fine and I think that she actually drove it home that day. Insanely good car

I feel the same way about the 2023 GX model- it is tried & true with no electrical gimmicks! I wanted an old V8 too. The new 2024 GX will be a good vehicle, but I have learned to never buy the first model year of any vehicle as it is untried in the hands of the consumer and it takes a few years to get the new model refined. Every time I get in a GX I smile at the comfort of the ride and security of the platform!

While in downtown Buffalo, avoid Main Street and Bailey Ave by any means necessary. There are monster potholes that will make you wince. The surrounding towns (Amherst, Williamsville, Orchard Park) are good. Enjoy the 716, I hope you'll be here on a Sunday with Bills Mafia!

Love the GX! Feels very related to my FJ80 Land Cruiser with the same great visibility, A frame grab handles, etc. Will get a GX if I can ever part with the Land Cruiser.

Great decision! My GF and I bought the 2021 Land Cruiser (heritage edition) and Tundra TRD Pro because they were the last of their kind with the bullet proof naturally aspirated 5.7 V8.

I bought my 22 new and it's got about 24k miles on it now in some frigid upstate new york winters and it's handled it like a champ.

These are great trucks. I had a 2013 and the seats were just too uncomfortable. If the seats have improved, along with CarPlay and other improvements, I think it's time to grab a 2023 before it's too late and the V8 is gone forever.

I bought my FL5 in January and traded my 2017 Tacoma for a 2020 GX460 for my wife in June. I have come to appreciate the Lexus luxury on longer trips! Mine has the 2nd row captain's chairs and it's an amazing family/dog vehicle that can tow when I need to occasionally.
