It’s a 59 reissue i.e a R9 i’ve got 2 real bursts buti took down vids cos of knobheads on social media, dont claim to have a 59 when you don’t youhave a R9 from the custom shop and 100000s people have one so its nothing as special

That is a tone monster.. it sounds very vintage. Not all Gibson R9s capture the vintage Gibson tone but that nails it .

The in between sound sounds like a fender strat 4 or 2 position with more body ..more bodicious mids ...

hi ,amazing tone .if you want to make it even better with the blues jr swap the first preamp tube (v1) for a nos jan ge 12ax7wa, tone wise it will calm the mids ,soften the highs , and the bass will get deeper and more defined, the amp will get cleaner so it will break up later(4 instead of 3 on the volume) and you will have more clean headroom. enjoy!

Wow your R9 sounds incredible and you’ve discovered how good the neck feels honestly it’s probably the closest thing to the originals without selling your house and really don’t worry about the weight 4 kg is just perfect Omg you don’t buy a Ferrari and complain it’s to fast, so don’t let anyone ruin your love for a once in a life time guitar, Bernie Marsden “The Beast” weights 9.5 lbs and that was a once in a life time guitar as well … Cork sniffers will always brag about having super light Lester’s but in reality do they really sound good l wonder ??.. In My opinion playing and owning Hundreds of Guitars At one time , Just like most of you GEAR HEADS, Who are watching this great video. The Gibson Vos line is quite special! Believe me, That when I tell you that they sound better than other SOLID BODY HUMBUCKING GUITARS IMO. Once you get one of these guitars, You will hear and come to the conclusion that everything JUST SOUNDS BETTER on these guitars. Now this is my experience owning just one of these guitars from the 2000s. Through the years it really just started sounding better and better . I speculate that the great sound comes from The Bridge Design from Gibson ? Believe IT or not as that really affects the tone. ANOTHER VERY IMPORTANT FEATURE OF WHY THE TONE MAY BE SPECIAL IS BECAISE THESE CUSTOM SHOP GUITARS UNLIKE THE STANDARD MODELS FROM GIBSON THESE VOS GUITAR HAVE A LONG NECK TENON , I really have to believe that the Long NeckTenon is what is causing that special resonance and that special Sound quality that you just don't hear from other sold body Humbucker guitars? And let's not forget about the wood, Whatever the way they chose and prepared their wood I like the way they dod things better around the 2000s It seems that there wasn't a shortage of certain types of wood and so many rules about what types of wood can ne used. REMEBER WHEN GIBSOB GOT BUSTED ? I HEARD THERE LITERALLY Was like a swat team taodomg there factory and convescating so e of theor supplies GIBSON GOT A HIGE FONE BECAISE OF IT. ANYWAYS I PROBABLY GOT IT ALL WRONG? THE BOTTOM LINE FOR ME is that everything always sounds better on my 2002 Gibson lespaul custom Historic! Put aside ones playing and the way he plays and the pickups of the guitar as there are just COUNTLESS VARIABLES THAT AFFECT OUR TONE. But once you pick up one of these guitars , Don't plug it in and listen to how great it sounds unplugged . Anyways Budda sounds great doesn't he? tWhat a good looking GUITAR! Great choice congrats!

To me, it sounds just like a good Les Paul should. Clear, woody, articulate, powerful when needed, bright yet beautiful... congratulations, man! I think your Gold Top would benefit with a pickup swap... I believe it would turn into an even better backup for the amazing R9. The custombuckers on the R9 are way more “special”, I think. I recently put a set of Wizz PAFs on my SG (also a very resonant and acoustically loud guitar) and I was blown away... check ‘em out. Parabéns pela compra! Abraço!

+1 on 50s-style wiring ;) and yeah for me too the right Les Paul sounds *just* like a Tele on the bridge pickup backed off a little. That moment 10 minutes in where you go from bossanova to hard blues with a flick of the pickup switch 👍 I got my Les Paul in France too - co-incidence?! Maybe not as great as yours though!

3rd time i,m wathing this video today, dont ever get rid of that guitat...Dont think youll ever get as close to a 58/59/60 as that...Us tone freaks. Can give someone else advice, but usually never satisfied with our own, THE GRASS IS ALWAYS GREENER, ON THE OTHER SIDE! that said, you got lucky there, id say if the custom shop makes 5000 les pauls a year 100 are on a simular teir as the originals, because today you have to get lucky with the wood and the pickup wind, your guitar is 1 of the 100,,,,And i know what im talking about, this month i played a 57 goldtop, and a rare 58 goldtop.....And your wouldnt disapear plugged in next to those....IF YOU EVER LOSE YOUR MIND AND DECIDE TO SELL IT YOU GOT A BUYER EMAIL ME,

Great groove my friend, when u toned it up to a darker jazzy approach, namely @8:45mins. Yes, your new LesPaul has a great SingleCoily tone. But come on.. a LesPaul will always be a 'Humbuckery' machine. I agree though . It's probably the less overthetop Humbucker Les Paul ive ever heard. And again.. If you need the fatness It's there for you. A great balance between the eternal battle of SC vs HH. Congrats on the acquisition. One can see your enthusiasm. ;)

No coincidence in the acoustic / resonant ability of the guitar on its on and the quality that translates to when plugged in. My EJ strat is my best sounding guitar and it sounds like an acoustic guitar. I also heard to place your hand on the back of the guitar body and if you can feel the vibration of the B string it’s a keeper. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Beautiful guitar and great playing!!! I have a 2021 LP Standard 50s and a 2022 LP Standard 50s Gold Top with P90s. For some reason Gibson is using modern wiring on these 50s guitars, duh!!! I've rewired them with 50s wiring and it makes a huge difference in tone and adjustability. 50s wiring FTW!!!

Hello Budda , that sure is an great guitar , i guess it is like people say : sometimes the guitar finds you ! I just bougth an second hand gibson tribute lp ( with P90 pu;s ) myself about 2 months ago , and like you the first time i played it acoustic i could already hear i had found an gem , i have had several lp's in al ranges tributes , classic;s , standard and cs , but this one is special and i will not sell this one . Nem sempre acontece, mas é bom ver duas coisas neste video: 1º Ver uma guitarra de >€5k que tem som, tocabilidade e acabamentos que justifiquem o investimento - anda por ai mt guitarra de €5k que não tem melhor som que uma de €2k. 2º Ver alguém com guitarras high end e que tem unhas para as tocar! Ficou apenas a faltar um test drive com um desses Marshall ai atrás, especialmente um Bluesbreaker. Cheers. HM

Gibson Custom Shop is improving. My first R9 I bought in 1994. You just have to try and maybe replace the gold top with a Custom R7 Gold Top, but the neck will be thicker…

There's something about those '59s isn't there. I really can't afford a Gibson, but a managed to get an Epiphone Tribute Plus (1960) with the '57 Gibson pickups and it sounds and feels and plays fantastic. It's the build and the wood and the pickups of the day. It's great. As a side note I got it the same year as the Jimmy Page dragon tele. I wanted to have the most iconic guitar tones from Led Zeppelin, and I have to say that while both guitars have great tones, they're entirely different beasts. And now I see why Page settled on the Les Paul. The tele is like a Ducati, fast and nimble, versatile and full of bright tones. But the Les Paul is a truck, it just plows right through the mix, and its sustain just keeps it ringing on and on and on. Hard to believe Jimmy's strums could have held on for four bars on the tele. Congratulations on your purchase. May you enjoy many many years with it!

You can put one of the new Bigsby tremolos on it - the ones that do not require any drilling into the guitar. I put one on my Studio and have really enjoyed the extra 'shimmer'. Congrats on the great find!
