That Tek-lok works just fine, you just have to know how to use it. You have to flip the latch/lock down on the bottom to open it

Some of the knockoffs are really decent quality, the problem is, you NEVER know what blade steel you're getting.... A good idea would be, avoid anything over $20 and especially avoid knockoff OTF's because of the demanding mechanism quality.... In a knife world where Civivi, Sitivien and Miguron exist though, it's almost pointless buying knockoff knives....

I just got my Demko AD20.5 a couple weeks ago, and I love it. Gonna be my daily driver. I got the clip point in D2, which I recommend over the other steel options. As far as blade shape and handle material, just pick what you like.

This is a really cool idea for a video. I, too, like to test out the less-expensive variants of a particular design before I decide if the "real deal" is right for me. It's saved me a fair bit of money to boot. (And sometimes you find some real diamonds for cheap!)

I owned the full size Benchmade Crooked River, it felt amazing in the hand and was worth every penny (got it on ebay, sent to BM for resharpening and verification of authenticity). Sold it cause I needed the money and also the Benchmade "issues". But as a knife it was really nice.

Demko Shark Cub in Titanium and 20CV for $200 is amazing. Perfect little EDC I carry everywhere. The lock is one of the best Ive ever used. On par with the compression lock and fidget friendly. For $350 you could get the Demko 20.5 in titanium as well. I love the Shark Foot blade the best due to the thumbhole deployment and sheepfoot blade.

Great video. The Microtech OTS clone is of the Microtech LUDT Gen III. I've accidentally purchased clones when I first got into collecting knives and didn't know anything about the hobby. Since then, approaching 400 knives in my collection, I've only purchased one knowing it was a clone, the Eafengrow Strider clone. I also have the Crooked River clone, first knife I bought off of Wish years ago, and probably the only Benchmade I'd ever consider buying.

YES! Your dessert knife is the exact reason I started buying the Microtech clones 😂! Microtech does a horrible job with making enough Halo 6s for knife collectors. And when I received my Halo 6 clone, I was floored with how good the quality is! And 20ish clones later I have too many now 😄. If you need a good Seller recommendation just ask, bc there are some shady ones on there

Ironically, the wood on the Crooked River looks smoother than the actual Benchmade; some of the Benchmades with the resin reinforced wood have an issue with "grooves" on the scales. Minor defect, and still great knives.

Very few OTF have zero blade play. Clone or not. The only true zero blade play OTF is the Hawk Deadlock and the new MicroTech Gen 3 models. Other than those, they all will have some blade play.

Interesting video! You explained a lot of the cosmetic differences but you didn't talk about the main and most important difference. It's the quality of the steel. Most of those knives are 8cr or most likely below that. I think it's important to mention it mainly for non knife people who are watching your video. They may think they can save a lot of money just by getting a knock off and it'll be close to the same thing. However the performance will be lacking. That being said, most non-knife people won't care about the quality of the steel. Lol... but I think it should be mentioned anyway. I've also bought a lot of clones to try out, to see if I want the real thing. The bench made full immunity is a nice clone - I ended up giving it to my sister. I'd love to have the real thing but I can't bring myself to spending that much money on a tiny knife.

I bought a fake bugout with an orange blade from Huaao, i wanted to put a thumb stud on it for some reason n thought i could drill right thru it, but i melted 4 drill bits n some dremel bits. Then i used it to scrape gorilla glue off taracotta pots i glued back together, the edges didnt line up n the blade was scraping on the taracotta n if figured it was finished. To my surprise the blade didnt have a knick in it, it felt the same as new. It says D2 on the blade, n the blade is really thin, but it must have been heat treated really well or something cuz it out performs a lot of my real knives

I have a handful of high quality knives that I actually use but I love to collect clones. It's a great way to get a feel for a knife that you may not otherwise purchase. Some of these clones are pretty decent too. Hifinder or Vespa if you're looking for good microtech clones.

It's nice to have the choice with some budget knifes !! ^^ They are not perfect, but they are so cheaper !! ^^

You should've bought some microtech OTFs bc the quality is amazing for $50. I've had around 15 in hand and every one disassembles perfect with almost 0 misfires. My only complaint is that they don't use higher end steel. I would highly recommend buying the Halo 6 bc they're impossible to buy genuine and they will fool most people they are so good

The real AD15 is actually a really nice knife. Not as hard to open or use as that clone. AD10 is another great knife and the lock is alot easier than the AD15. I have the AD20 milled Titanium with the full flat grind and clip point. The AD20 Ti is my favorite knife in my collection. I could sell every other knife and be happy with just the AD20. I also have the 4max and it's a beast but is a large knife and almost to big to carry.

New sub. I picked up a Benchmade Bugout knock off and eyeballing a BK19, ZT and a couple others on aliexpress for the same reasons you tried them. The Bugout had a few obvious tells including every box stating the same color when there were a few different ones, another was it couldn't cut hair and barely made it through paper so they'll get some diamond stone time. I wish there was an easy/cheap way to test and see what steel knives sold on these sites are actually made of since there's no way they're actually some of the more premium ones claimed/marked as. And if you havent figured out the Tek Lok yet, theres a "L" bracket arm in between the two sides you push to release it that creates a jam rod effect and has to be rotated out of the way before the sides can be pressed inwards.

Ive noticed Benchmade clones are almost just as good as the real thing specifically Bugouts. 😂. Especially when you consider how cheap the clones are. Edit: Get the blade hq exclusive. Grey textured g10 and 20cv for $119. Absolute best Demko deal.

The Automatic Benchmade clone is the Infidel clone.I bought the ad 20.5 tanto in Cpm 3v and i love it. I would check the Flytanium Arcade if you like the shark lock.

Here is my two cents on the AD-15. It was head to use the lock, but I got used to it. The action is quite good though, so as long as you get your fingers out of the way you’re good. I disengage the lock with my middle finger and all my other fingers are on the frame of the knife, that works well for me. I does just chew up my finger which I don’t really love, but it’s a cool knife so I don’t care a ton.

The one you asked which microtech it is it’s not. It’s the OKC lightning elite. It’s only like $35

I have well over 100 knives. Some cheap some over 1k. I have a few clones also. Most of the clones I have are pretty damn good. If the blade steel was legit most would be better than the original

On the Claymore, look at the blade stop pin. The real one has flat sides, where as on the knockckoff, it's smooth. I have both, that's the quickest way for me to tell them apart.

Detent ball is possibly in the wrong place. Microtech prices are very high. I have an OTF in titanium that is 2 years old now and was $600! I wonder if you know about ulti clips. They sell on Amazon and are the real deal and I swap out most Kydex clips in multi clips and they stay in your pocket and are easy to pull out but if it’s closed onto your pocket you will pull just the knife and the sheath stays put

Well, you might be disappointed with otf’s in general then because they all have a little bit of blade play, even the legit Microtec’s. It’s just a consequence of the design. The only one I’m aware of with absolutely no blade play is the Deadlock, and it’s called that because it was specifically designed to not have any blade play, but it’s also quite pricey.

On the fake bugouts, the metal grip bumps by the pivot stick out noticeably more than a real one

The belt clip you were having trouble with has a secondary safety that you need to flip down before you squeeze the sides to unlatch.

The little otf is a microtech utx 85, n the donut n sprinkles is a ultratech

Get the MSI with the plastic scales and you can upgrade them for not a lot of money

The smaller "Microtech" is probably trying to be the UTX85. And the larger sprinkle one is the Ultratech.

Hungfu is it own brand and they’re pretty good they don’t tell you the steals M390 but really it’s some stainless steel D2 or something. But they make BK 19 also that our copies but have their brand on it.

The legit Carbon Bugout has a slightly darker blue paint thats ever so slightly mettalic looking other than that i cannot tell the dofference AT ALL

The best deal on Amazon for Demko is the Shark Cub G10 or Aluminum. DO NOT buy the grivory versions, Blade HQ still has their ultem/20cv AD20.5 slicer on sale for $139.

You’re always going to get more value out of a chinese knockoff or clone of a Benchmade than a real Benchmade. If you’re looking for value and getting your money’s worth the clones and knockoffs are always better. That’s what I have found. Benchmades just aren’t worth what they charge. You’re better off buying a Civivi or something like that if you don’t want a clone. If you don’t mind half of your money, going to purchasing a name then go ahead and get the real thing. A lot of these companies just keep raising their prices over the years until it’s just not worth it. If you’re a millionaire then go ahead buy one or better yet spend your money on a really nice car if you’re that rich. If you’re rich, you’re probably not gonna be super into knives since you can afford more luxurious things or you’ll be buying custom knives. If you’re buying those custom knives, then the Benchmades we are talking about here are going to seem like little toys anyway. It’s like a Louis Vuitton bag compared to something like a vanquest or a maxpedition bag. If it’s utility and value you want, you’re never gonna choose the Louis Vuitton bag. That’s for people who don’t know any better. I guarantee you if you put some rocks inside of a Louis Vuitton bag and then you put some rocks inside of a maxpedition bag and you go dragging them behind a car the Louis Vuitton bag is going to tear apart so fast compared to the other one. Now which one is more valuable when you’re considering utility and actual value? If you’re dumb enough to fall for the whole thing about paying for a name or for some company that’s been around longer than some other company and you want to just pay for a name and not real value then go ahead and get something based on a name. Personally, I’m not into that. What makes me smile is when I see some thing online that intrigues me and it’s really reasonably priced and arrives to my house and I open it up and I get it in my hands and I really like it and it didn’t cost that much. Every once in a while, this happens and it pleases me much more than paying a whole lot for something and then getting it in my hands and I’m wondering why I just spent so much money. There are a few bench maids that are reasonably priced. But most of them are way jacked up. I feel the same way about Microtechs as well. Most of them just aren’t worth it.

On the Kershaw Iridium, the pivot screws are exactly the same, just need to flip one or the other lol. One is just backwards from the other one 😅

That fixed blade you threw in the bad pile is easy to open! There is a u shaped lock between the two parts ya squeeze that you flick back! C’mon man you a better knife guy than that I would hope having a channel and all! It is the same as a With Armour fixed blade kydex sheath!

Sadly temu when accessed from Australia won't show and folding or fixed blade knives, kind of jealous that you can access and review these😊

The benchmade Osborne 940 is dark green a cross bar lock and all benchmade logos are etched and have to fit with in a n area. They aren’t ever painted on and that proud of the area bright white!

I wish there were more unbranded/own brand copies of these knives, man. I have bought a couple just to have a few different mechanisms to play with and most are at the very least respectable knives on their own right, but I have seen basically zero chinese brands that aren't just putting out variations on the exact same g10 scale liner lock knife. A couple crossbars, button locks and autos would be well received by those of us who like variety on a budget.

I could tell the launch was fake very quickly as well as the carbon fiber bugout. The rest look legit from a distance.

The knife at 24:15 sheath locking mechanism is weird. The small squared loop pulls back to allow you to open the belt carrier. I broke one trying to figure it out, but superglue works wonders.

Looks like a coil spring is missing on that Kershaw launch which can be common for Chinese knockoffs parts missing etc

Clones are a zesty subject 100%! On the one hand I feel that under no circumstances should someone purchase a cloned knife, it's stealing from the person who designed it as well as whoever produced and marketed that item. And then I also think that as long as it's not sold as the real thing then maybe it's not too big a deal? I wonder if the people screaming that Clones knives are just as bad as Hitler(I exaggerate but some people get really mad) have ever downloaded music of movies/tv series they didn't pay for? I'm pretty sure most of us are guilty of that at some point lol. If I was forced to pick a side Im gonna go with don't buy clones, save up and get the real thing. One more thing, if a company is shady enough to steal a licensed design can you really trust them to be honest about the materials used in their products?! Is that really even D2?! I bet the claymore has side to side blade play, and i bet if you try to tighten it, or remove the pivot screw, it's gonna spin and you wont be able to hold the other side to loosen it. Just a hunch 😊

The 940 and 9400 are IDENTICAL in every aspect except one is button lock auto while the other uses the axis lock. The colors, size and weight are identical.

I got the same crooked river clone from temu. The scales did not sit flush on the liner. Took it apart to fix it, the scales were perfectly flat, but the liner was very soft steel and very easy to bend with fingers. It also has a decent amount of blade play unless I tighten it enough to remove the action completely. Would love to find out what the blade steel really is, as it is definitely better than any of my old 420hc stuff, but nowhere near as good as any modern premiums.

The orange russian liner lock is a hokc mongoose. They are designed by Aleksander Biryukov in russia then made in china and shipped back to russia.

SMKW Kabar exclusive was all black. with no extra markings ..... the knock off is D2 , the 1095 Kabar uses is soft at 58hrc ... your going to like the knock off better than the original.

The full immunity is far too much for the size of the knife. There is no real way to justify the price tag for that tiny knife.

The huang fu square looking knife is a knock off of a inexpensive brand of knives that are good quality. Their most expensive knife is around 60 bucks cheapest 10 but it is a copy. The name escapes me.

Ka-Bar may be the real deal. They are making some knives in China, and they do offer it in black. I got a becker harpoon from temu and it is absolutely the real deal. Its rare but some of the name brand knives that are made in Taiwan/china do show up on temu cheap.
