I bought the A4 after my wife re-arranged the front of her 370Z on the back of a Nissan Qashqai. Saw the video, love the approach of Matt which matches my own and wife still wanted a convertible. Mechanically spot on and after 2 days detailing the paint matches the work Matt put in. Gave full price and loving the bangernomics motoring. Was not bothered by the lack of a/c as the roof works though have replaced the centre caps which lifted the car. Keeping an eye on his stock for the next motor - Mercedes 350 convertible please Matt if you can source 😂

Great vid, the car looked nice and good value for the asking price. I wouldn't be at all worried about the paint on a car of that age, but I don't think I'd buy it without AC. It's not just for cooling in the summer, it's also great for de-humidifying the air in the cooler months. It’s probably the tactics of companies like Motorway. They offer a high price but when they come to collect the car (or when you bring your car), the buyer will subtract €300 for every little dent and defect. Sometimes the seller has already bought another car and really needs the cash and is more or less forced to accept a at times much lower price. Not the most honest way of doing business.

The idea is that you set the temprature and it will use the air con system in the background as and when it needs to maintain that temprature. Pressing ECON would stop the a/c cutting in. Climatronic. I think thats what they called it back in the day. Geeky fact alert but early MK5 golfs and passats of that era had ECON buttons, but the later ones had an A/C button which is the other way about. So it actually confused a lot of people too.

Bought it thinking that the aircon doesn't work and boot lid is not always working too but turned out everything actually works. With aircon I just had to set min temperature and make sure Econ button is not on 😂 I know in your case mechanic said aircon pump is disconnected but in make case it was just the Economy button being on when I was buying mine. As for the boot lid turns out I had to double click unlock button on keyfog to enable boot to be opened by the latch on the boot. Seller also said sometimes passenger door doesn't unlock with central lock but that also was just a security feature if I double click keyfog unlock then everything unlocks. If I unlock the car by clicking unlock once then only the drivers door will unlock. In my opinion it still is a good looking car and definitely does not look like a 1 or 2k car. In other countries in Europe with higher mileage mine goes for around 7k and I didn't even pay half of that here in UK. 😊 Great video!

@StephenFogarty2023
@StephenFogarty2023 Год назад
IMO With all due respect Robert, Matt knows that Triangle is another cheap Chinese Tyre Only $ 50 each Tyre But, it’s an 18 year old car, at a $ 3,995 ask And not a performance version of the A4 either. It’s got 4 new tyres, which would be a big plus to potential customers. Unfortunately a potential buyer in this price bracket, is highly unlikely to gladly pay a high price or top dollar & No discount on the Audi, just because it’s fitted with 4 new Michelin or Pirelli tyres that would cost $ 800.00 If Matt had fitted new Michelin or Pirelli tyres, the car would then owe him $ 3,500.00 Instead of it owing him $ 2,900.00 which includes the $ 200.00 cost of 4 new Triangle tyres. He might only get $ 3,500.00 for the car ? Equals - NO profit ! In many other videos, Matt does spend a lot extra to fit a decent brand of Tyre…. When he probably should not, as the extra $ 500.00 spent for a decent brand of Tyre, most likely won’t be appreciated by the customer, and it takes a huge chunk out of slim margins on cars of this price bracket… In 90 % of the videos, the cars Matt shows us in videos generally are fitted with a “ no name brand “ of Chinese Tyre… Even on fairly late model cars, such as BMW or Benz that High Peak have traded or bought 🤷🏻‍♂️

Nope A/C in a cab is more important than a tin top as the interior tends to mist up quicker. Note, it's Air Conditioning not Air Cooling, using it removes the humidity out of the air as well as helps cool the cabin. Main reason why it fails in UK cars because people think it's just for making you cool down in summer when that's only 1 benefit. Always told my customers to use it all year round and never go more than 3 weeks not running it even if just for 10 mins at a time. Keep those O rings lubricated and the system won't fail and probably will only need a recharge every 5 years or so min.

The A/C is an absolutely must, especially in the extreme weather we are facing nowadays. I would in all honesty have fixed it even if it pushed the initial price up a bit, I'm sure most potential clients will see it as such, not to mention that temperatures have reached 32.2°c in the UK this year already & will likely get worse in the few years to come.

IN Australia we have to have aircon. Even a drop top. In summer the top goes up at 9am and air on and the top doesn't come down until 5pm. IN winter the top stays down most of the time as our winter temps are about 20C during the day and a low in Brisbane Queensland is 6C. That is a nice car and well looked after.

I pick up loads of cars for motorway and the only time the buyer walks away is when the car is not as described e.g engine light on, roof not working in this case. More often or not the buyer just offers a lower valuation to reflect the actual car, but I guess in this case the buyer did not want to get involved in buying a convertible where the roof did not work

We have had a our S line 2008 for 15 years , sound as a pound , if regular services carried out . Down side leaky third brake light gasket , which also damages the rear number plate lights and a common fault on the pump motor for the roof , which I believe was sorted on latter models . Fun to drive and never dates , and not regarded as a chav in an old BMW .

Good vid as usual. The problem of no AC is that sometimes (when I drive down to Spain and even in the UK) I found I need to use the closed roof as a sort of parasol. My MR 2 roadster was like an oven if we were going slow or in the midday heat and had to put up the roof which stopped the roasting and then we'd boil (no ac fitted) and I do the same with my Renault Wind (has working ac...changed condenser.). I'm also "I don't like having a button for something and it doesn't work "
@joshbrailsford

I have a convertible without AC, and it can be unbearable on a hot day - burn with the roof down, or sweat with the roof up. If I were ever to change it for a different convertible, I'd go for one with AC

IMO As long as High Peak clearly advise that AC doesn’t work, and write this down on Sales Contract T & C’s then the buyer is fully aware, and can’t then call up a week later, after having taken delivery of the Audi, and expect Matt to then spend ( up to ) $ 1 k ? for a compressor / other parts etc, via the Warranty that a Licensed Dealer is legally required to give… 🤷🏻‍♂️ 😳

I would care about no air con much more than the bonnet having been repainted due to stone chips or whatever may have happened. And as stated in the video, the reality of ownership is the convertible ends up rarely converted so you need working air con. I understand the choice not to reinstate but I think for most people no air con would be a deal breaker at more than three grand. Sadly, there's a discernible theme that a cheap premium brand car will need repairs beyond its market value.

Boot switch on my 2010 XC60 stopped working, the microswitch has a known issue of grease causing an issue with connections, fix is to remove the rubber boot over the switch and spray/inject solvent to wash the grease away and fix the switch or you can replace the switch and whole housing for £150 as the switch is not replaceable.
