It’s actually very strange seeing you in a nine year old car that looks brand new and only cost about 30 pence to fettle in relation to the sometimes hideous costs you incur with some of the piles of scrap you end up with…so in this respect a very satisfying and calming presentation to watch 😁

My mum had a 'reliable' Nissan Qashqai which had endless faults and problems. She got rid of it and went for an 'unreliable' Discovery Sport - the facelift version though - everyone told her she'd have endless problems with it but it's been faultless for the past 3 years, despite the Ingenium engine.

I remember the press really slating that 2.2 engine for being too agricultural and saying its out of date needs a more competitive one. That one was the ingenium engine which was mostly praised at the time. Oh the irony😂

@@paultasker7788 Yep, people look at me weird because I bought a French car for reliability reasons. PSA was best to be avoided between 2000-2006. Strange setup where a VAN-CAN bus translator was used causing lots of issues. After 2005, it was full can bus, after 2008, there are no more electrical issues. I've had zero problems other than an alternator failing at 230k.

One of the great tragedies in automotive history was the sale of Rover Group to BMW rather than Honda. The Nazi Staff car producers asset stripped Rover. Whereas had a Honda / Rover merger happened the mid range SUVs would have had Land Rover style and cachet with Honda reliability.

Thanks for the video - I’ve owned an Ingenium Disco Sport HSE from new for 7 years and it has been a real workhorse and totally reliable. The key is keeping it serviced regularly at 10k miles not the LR scheduled 20k. I’m planning on keeping it for a long time as it does everything I want it to do. The advantage of the 2lt over the 2.2lt is that it is Euro 6 compliant.

I had a 2019 Disco Sport Landmark Edition with the Ingenium for about 5,000 miles and 6 months. Half the time I had it was spent at the Land Rover dealer, the other half it spent preparing itself for the Land Rover dealer. I swear nothing quite worked properly on that thing. Everything from chain rattle, to the door pull coming off in my hand. Oh, and it was beautifully maintained too. Bosch wiper blades and Bridgestone tires.... Glad this one's manual, the automatic in mine was the worst transmission I've ever had in a car.

OMG. This channel just went full circle for me! I first found the channel when I was looking for a Disco Sport, about four years ago, and have been watching since. I bought a 2.2 Disco Sport SE Tech SD4 manual in identical spec. Even has the same OEM towbar. Land Rover pre-registered a load of these in this spec as it was the launch colour and many of them were demonstrators. As it's half way to having a black pack with the mirrors, tailgate trim etc. I decided to complete the look with the additional black pack items and a set of black 20" OEM Aerovipers shod with a fresh set of Pirelli Scorpions. Basically looks like the HSE black pack spec. (the halogens are the only giveaway - and no, I haven't taken the SE SD4 badge off!) I usually keep cars for three years, but I love this thing so much, I'm keeping it for the forseeable, it's been faultless. ...those headlight washers are blanks by the way :)

Not sure what it is about these car vids that makes it so compelling for a saddo car geek such as me, but it is! I could sense (and the viewers shared) your inner “Jurassic Park!” moment on discovery (no pun intended) of the matching branded tyres and floorless history folder! 👌👍😀 Let’s be honest, we all knew as soon as we saw the English Heritage sticker!

Great find at bargain price. I always ruled out the 2.2 engine and manual box in favour of the 2.0 auto. However, I will now reconsider as I'm looking for a big boot to accommodate the dogs..

I bought the 2.2 hse lux model last year from main dealer, love the car but had a few bits of work done under warranty. One of these was a replacement steering rack, I think this is a recall on this model, due to snapping bolts. But like I say hopefully going to keep mine for a while as I do love the car.

Hi Matt great video as always 😊 being a land rover owner myself with discovery sport 2019 se tech model ( I'll get ready for the negative feedback) I had a freelander 2 for 9 years gave sterling service absolutely brilliant loved it they are very good. So I can relate to your enthusiasm regarding early discovery sports having older freelander 2 engine and gearbox built like a tank 😊😊. Also your recommendation to people to buy a freelander 2 you get a brilliant car for your money 😀😀😉😉

7 years for the cam belt on the 2.2 Freelander 2, Evoque and Discovery Sport after 2013 I think. Had both Freelanders which never let me down looking for a Evoque Discovery Sport one day.

I must say I love my Discovery Sport - Of course I have the American version, running on how do you folks say "a petrol engine". sitting at just over 60K miles, and still looks and runs great. Land Rover trolls take note.

Love your channel mate, most down to earth car guy on RU-vid, 10/10. Please bring back the old intro music though :( this new one just sounds a little bit off/distorted.
