I appreciate the sentiment but 200k in that sounds miserable. I don’t mind the “Agil” or it’s Splash counterpart but the least I’d expect when buying one is remote central locking, air con and cruise control. That’s my minimum requirement for any car tbh.

I was surprised to see one of these pop up on the channel. My mum got one of these last year, her first "new" car purchase in over 22 years and her 4th Vauxhall - loyal to the end. I have to say, it suits her well. Hers is on a much higher spec - air con, electric windows, electric door mirrors, steering wheel buttons, etc. - which was a complete novelty to her as it's her first car with any of these features - and in cobalt blue. She wouldn't have gone near it if it was red, she hates the colour. She paid a bit more (around £4,000) but it had less mileage (50,000 approx) and was newer so it was worthwhile. For her needs, commuting to work, to the shops, etc., it's perfect and economical. The head and footroom in the back is very impressive for a small car and the seats can be folded down in a matter of seconds - it's a very impressive little car and will hopefully prove to be pretty reliable.

My missus is on her 2nd one in 10 years. Absolutely loves it. It is actually a Suzuki with a Suzuki engine and a Vauxhall badge, and they rune like a sewing machine. Even the lads at my Vauxhall dealership said they are the best car that Vauxhall have ever sold, and very rarely ever see one in for repairs....unlike most of the other models. A fine fine car indeed, and as you said, not a bad looker either.

Thank goodness for a real car being updated and given a new lease of life. This is what normal people look out for- so little to go wrong, simple, capacious and cheap to run. Windey windows are quite manageable for most people who have been trained in old cars, and they are very simple to operate it would appear, almost anyone can use them. Love these obscure models, no one knows about them, but they hold the bottom of the market together for ordinary people just trying to get by. Well done Matt, cracking video and very pleased about the happy budget ending.

Quite liked this model Agila, have used at least 3 when I was doing col/del job for Vauxhall dealer. The 1.2 suzuki engine ran like a sewing machine and averaged 45 mpg and was very quiet. Nice large comfy seats and lots of headroom and great visibility. Being tall they were a little twitchy on the motorway in crosswinds but as a town car they were great and they never seemed to need any workshop visits other than for routine servicing. The Design spec had alloys, elec. front windows remote c/locking and air con.

These are very good cars, a favourite with the silvertops. I've never seen one this poverty though. Bulletproof petrol engines. The 1.2 is very darty off the line. Cable operated clutch on these. I've seen the clutch fork in the gearbox become sticky, particularly if the car has had little use. The brake pipes always rust on these. And the front strut tops always develop play, just like a corsa.

You know what you are talking about Matt and did a great job on this car. I bought one of these and ignorant people are really rude about it. But for me it does what a car should do. It was the most reliable car in Europe for many years and mine has yet to develop a fault in 12 years. Running costs are very low. Mine is much better equipped being top of the range and the 1.2 engine makes it fine in any situation. I bought it because it was spectacularly cheap despite being very low mileage and like new. It's nice enough to drive, has a raised seating position for my wife, van-like practicality for me and a small footprint to fit my parking space. The smart red paint has a clear coat and is still shiny unlike the faded red of other Vauxhalls. The car was actually jointly designed by Suzuki and Opel in Germany and is really a Suzuki Splash, built in Suzuki's factory in Hungary. I hope my next car is this good.

The Agila/Splash is a decent car. I know more than a few older people who bought one based on the low cost to run and higher ride height... It's a really good motor

I was loving the (not very often seen) smug under budget face you were pulling 😂 great job Matt 👏🏻

Indicator tone came from the Atari Tennis game 😂 I was hoping you were going to end the video with "and that ladies and gentlemen is how you polish a turd" haha. Top job as always Matt!

Many years ago I had to endure one of these as a courtesy car when my Astra estate died again... The only amusing memory of this was driving up the m62 towards Leeds with myself and three 6ft odd men crammed in it and it struggling getting to 60 up the part of the motorway that is the highest motorway point in England.

Great stuff, that’ll make someone a good first car. Cheap as chips to run, ideal 👍

I guess the engine and most of the other mechanics is from Suzuki, wich is really good 👍🏽

You were reasonably complementary about its styling; I always thought it was a very clever piece of design, making a car that tall looking attractive and well balanced. Not an easy feat. I always thought it was discontinued prematurely; it was a Suzuki after all and it seemed to have too many "city" models on sale at the same time.

My wife is on her 2nd Agila, went from the basic model to the A/C 1.2 model for a 3 cylinder 5 door run the kids to school car it does the job very well she was upset when Vauxhall stopped making them.

It’s a sensible approach to reverse park your cars especially your range rovers and your GT. Another interesting & entertaining video Matt. Can’t go wrong with a Toyota, neglected unloved Vauxhalls not so much usually, you’ve gone good with this resurrection

Looks like a good, honest car for someome. I didnt realise that anyone but Dacia still made such basic cars, though!

They're great little runabouts, cheap to buy and keep, and they tend to be reliable. I've got a 2011 Agila 1.2 automatic, drives surprisingly well and does 50mpg! All Agila Mk2s use Suzuki engines, so a better bet than the Vauxhall units.

A local dealer in the town I grew up in sold loads of these Agilas with LPG. Can't get around much cheaper than that.

There were so many comments on Mr Harry's video about HPA and his love for the Range Rover brand. It was funny and complementary at the same time.
