That's RIGHT. I finally did it. The Type R no longer has to suffer through horrible Tampa traffic during my daily commute. This ES 300 will do a great job and is incredibly comfortable. I feel so much more peaceful now.

Great find I think it’ll make a great daily driver. Have a mechanic check that check engine light, have them fix any oil leaks, and have them check to see if it has a sticker showing that the timing belts have been changed. The timing belts normally only good for around 100,000 miles and if they break it will leave you stranded. You’ll have a great car to drive to work for sure.

Unfortunately for the window noise, there’s nothing you can do to make them quite. The car will continue to make outside noise because it’s based on design (frameless windows). I have the same car (color as well) but it’s a 2001 ES300. I bought the car over 10 years ago from an old lady for $5,000 with 33,000 original miles. Best investment ever. I did changed the radio with a 7 inch double din stereo and swap the corner lights with the Japanese version from the Toyota Windom (that’s what the Japanese called this car in Japan because there was no Lexus in Japan until 2006). As for the headlights, you can find cheap replacement on Amazon if they’re far too gone to fix since you don’t have the ones with the HID from factory. Good luck with your daily because this is an awesome car to own.

You definitely got an awesome deal for an awesome car. The 2000 Lexus ES300 was my first car in 2015. Unfortunately the previous owners didn't take the best care of the interior/exterior and it had over 200,000 miles but I loved that car. Smooth V6 and quiet. Upgrading the head unit and wrapping the wood trims with a more modern texture brought so much more life into the interior too. Ultimately my door seal failed and water got all over the inside carpet and it got moldy, and it needed some major engine work done that was at least $1600 in repairs so I decided to cut my losses and buy a new car. I really do miss it sometimes. Can't wait to see what you do with yours!

My favorite ES by far. Not too stiff or soft of a ride. I would name the newest gens, but the seat in these are the best for really long road trips. The 2004 Avalon we had was almost identical - actually has better doors because frame goes around the glass, but this has a bit more sporty handling while the lookalike Avalon has that old schools feather light pinky power steering. Also the volume goes up and down with the speed, not sure why they got rid of that feature.

Accent panels now are all muted grays and metal.... it's mostly a sea of black unless you can order the brown interior which is like the only one with wood looking wood trim and maybe the white interior. I have a GS300 from this gen also - probably a better car experience overall, but the ES is a highway comfort king.

My 1998 Toyota Camry LE with the 2.2L four cylinder engine has over 330k miles--still the original engine and transmission--so I know you're in for a treat. That 3.0L V6 also was available in the Toyota Camry back then (my father bought a 1999 Camry with that wonderfully smooth V6). I would recommend either engine in those vehicles: They're quiet cars with reliable power trains. My only advice to used car buyers is to take someone with you who has an OBD reader to check why the "check engine" light is on so you can get some idea as to how much the problem might cost to fix. As you note, $2,700 for 1998 Lexus/Toyota with only 130k miles sounds like an excellent deal provided the vehicle was not an accident or flood salvage (the South has plenty of hurricanes) and person who sold it was the legal title owner. One suggestion: Use some Chemtool spray to clean the mass air fuel sensor--sometimes a dirty one will trigger the check engine light when the code reads faulty O2 sensor.

My grandmother has a 2000 Camry XLE V6 (which is the same as the ES300) with 179k miles and it sounds the same. Dont modify it. Leave it classic luxury family car. The ride quality is superb for the baby. Paint correct it, re-do the tint and detail it. After that all you have to do is maintain it. Maintain it by a Lexus/Toyota mechanic. Also, change the timing belt and water pump every 85k-90k miles. You have a great car bro. Believe me.😊

Wish I had your luck with mine. Yours is an almost exact copy of the one I used to have, but the paint on mine was super faded (former Texas owner), it had 278k miles, whole power steering system was leaky, but it was an otherwise solid car. I unfortunately had to let it go cause it was too expensive to fix and I couldn’t keep running it the way I was. But I still believe these are solid, well built cars that’ll last forever with proper maintenance. Mine wasn’t properly cared for before I bought it.

That’s a steal! That’s the thing about Florida! 25 year old cars looks brand new! No salt on the road I love it!

I miss my 1992 Camry XLE. That car had leather and was just as smooth and quiet as your Lexus. But that was what made the gen 3 camrys special. They matched the Lexus in a way other gens of camrys didnt

Nice car man I saw a late 90s camry minty mint other day and was just staring at it in a parking lot. Would love to have one for a solid reliable year round cruiser in Ontario.

These were everywhere back in the day. Good car, probably the strongest competitor the 3 series ever had.

I bought a 97 Lexus Es300 with 160,000 on it. Just passed 200k and its running beautifully, what an incredible car.

Nice. I was honestly hoping you would get the Acura because I'm a Honda fan but I'm happy you got such a great deal.

Lexus is always a good bet. I’m getting ready to buy a 2015 chrysler 300 today. I’ll be sure to add a video of it.

Congrats on the find dude! It was very exciting for me to watch this and your reaction because I went thru the literal same experience with the same color car and everything back in Sep. 2020. Old car but super smooth and handled so nice, I was as stoked as you and I enjoyed it so much - I wasn’t sure if anyone else could understand me 😆 my first car was an Avalon so practically the same car(hence why i had my eyes on it.. just a smoother ride with the Lexus suspension and what not. Got my es300 for $750 but put a little work into it at 170k miles but it’s been sold now. This past summer just bought a 2006 V8 4runner for $3k with 76k miles. Rusted frame but everything else is emaculate so it’s been 100% worth it. Marketplace deals and adrenaline for the win! I hope you enjoy your new whip 😎
