Thank you for review. Think I will stick with the hayter that I have already got. There was nothing wrong with old filler cap for starters. As for thT green bit to press in before pulling back that lever is a wast of technology. As for the bit to connect a hose pipe to wash underneath. Sounds a good idea but most people are on meters these days. Turn it on its side and use a scraper. Are people frightened to get there hands dirty these days.

I've been using Hayter Mowers commercially for over 10 years and they are definitely durable. Just collected my second Harrier 56 Pro today. Had one of the first of the new designs two years ago. It's done loads of work but not without a few issues: The plastic guard covering the chain drive to the roller quickly wore through letting in dirt and in the end needed new chain, spockets and cover (the new cover has metal on it now) The bag also requires regular jet washing for air flow and complete bagging. The main drive gearbox failed just with the warranty so that was replaced. Both my 56 Pro have the Briggs and Stratton engines and I've never had an issue with a Briggs engine so long as you service them. The only thing that might surprise some new users is how fast the single speed travel is, its going to keep you fit!

Washing the bag is something I think many owners would miss, super good to do.

Fab review sir! your terminology is awesome & honestly everyone's language eg cableidge😂 just picked mine up yesterday. Got a 9 year old 56 so can see they have worked hard to both refine & improve. Let's hope they keep fending of the competition from the likes of Weibang, Toro etc by far the best mowers money can buy.... (if the grass isn't too wet to cut🤫) 👍🏻

I have an old hayter that is 40 years old and electric start which we still use today , It has a wide chute and does clog a bit in the wet but it is a tank that keeps going and we use it often. I brought a new one recently that you’ve got in your video and it’s even worse with wet grass as it has a narrow chute and never does it even half fill the bag , on top of that the grass clogs the roller and you have to stop and turn the machine over and unclog it, They don’t make things better but much worse than the originals

That grass being trapped under rear roller I’ve just discovered, esp at low cuts. Think it’s to do with grass gathering on the under deck when damp.

Good review. Sounds like some great improvements on previous models. My 2006 Harrier 48 is still cutting great but my 2016 Harrier 48 Pro is not a patch on it when it comes to cutting wet grass! The 2016 model has a very shallow deck and clogs up with wet grass. So most importantly how does it handle cutting wet grass? Thanks

It's very good. As long as the grass isn't too long. I've found if the grass is cut more often, which may lead to a denser sward, give the lawn better performance. On the odd day when I have to deal with a lawn thats wet and long I'll give the lawn a "trim" to check the growth. What I'd say is the machine is good, get a shorter cut in as soon as the season starts and then try to keep it there - 25-30mm. I find the error people can make, and I have, is if the day is wet and I can't get a short cut in I'll cut it long, but the next cut I forget to get the cut down. I've learnt now, if I have to do a trim cut, best to get back and cut again when its dry. A long lawn leads to a long cut and loads of grass bag changes.

Have you got a degree in latin?🤣 After owning the earlier shape with the 160 I'm still concerned that the issue of collecting damp to wet grass still hasn't been resolved and I believe the power isn t the issue, its the bag - gets mucky way too quickly and can't let air out - plastic boxes don't have that issue. Great review, others locally all seem impressed with this latest spec 48 too 👍🏻

Having a clean grass bag is a daily end of day task, as is crawling the mower. Look after your nice things and your nice things look after you
