I live in south Florida, born and raised. I have friends that live in ft.myers and lost so much. My son has been working there since the hurricane to rebuild people's damaged homes.
I had a small boatyard in Fort Lauderdale in 1969 and I was often amazed at boats that were under water for extensive time, like months, were capable of coming alive. In those days we would pour Marvel Mystery Oil into the cylinders, let it sit a couple days, hook up batteries, cycle the engine, put the engine together, clean the carb and then most often the engine was good to go. At that time I built 39 foot ferro-cement sailboat. Kudos on the great aerial videos show such a tragic state Ft. Myers endured. I like, many others, came by way of your sister's excellent videos which showed your jack of all skills and the wonderful relationship you have with her. Great start and I look forward to more.
Came over here from your sister RU-vid and I love the building videos y'all do keep up the good work and can't wait to see more of y'all building videos
Tampa here. Storm was devastating. Have family that lost everything. Love your work and content. Your sister did send me over. Excited to see what’s ahead
hi from Vancouver 🍁big Bastone fan here! Enjoying the content you and your sister create. I am also a fan of your dad Lou from Unslavia! He needs a channel too💯❤
Stumbled across this video completely by accident and was pleasantly surprised by how good the video was for how small your channel is had to subscribe and am definitely looking forward to an update video and your journey with this boat
What devastation down there. I flew down after the hurricane to check on the condo. We were ok but neighbours weren’t. Look forward to watching ur rebuild. I know Fort myers area well and look forward to getting back down there. I’m flying down next week. We rent a lot of boats outta Salty Sam’s Marina. . My first winter in 15 yrs I haven’t been to Florida but soon will make it up. Good luck John.
with the back of the boat having been under water your going to want to check everything in the bildge (bildge pump, raw water pump, float switch, thru hull fittings, wire connections, etc...), make sure its dried out, make sure water didnt penetrate into the stringers and soak the flotation foam. the fuel tank in those boats should be plastic, so dont need to worry about tank corrosion, but the rest of the fuel system will need to be inspected (filters, fuel/water seperator, fuel lines).
Music is good. You have a good sense of when to use music and what music to use to envoke a mood. You could practice a smoother volume change. Insted of drastic drop, do measured drops, longer slower or maybe ramped drops in background music. Also EXCELLENT TO LICENSE the music! Bravo. This needs to be the norm. Use the music you want, but pay for it direct
Thank you! Lots to learn never done editing before, not as easy as I thought. Working on it, and yes I did license all my music. Some people like it some people hate it can’t please everyone lol
The next time you try and start it you should remove all the plugs to remove compression and blow out anything that might be in the block until you have fresh fuel coming thru
Keep ‘em coming brotha. All I think of is, “hi my names Colin, i used to be a chief engineer on super yachts and I bought a hurricane damaged boat”…. Lol
It appears you might have got lucky as you stated John. With some more work as well as perhaps hope and prayers - you may have gotten a pretty good deal on a nice boat that hopefully later you can flip and make a nice profit on it! Will be waiting for the next video as well as back to the tiny home when more thawing occurs. You need to find a better air horn as your sister should jump a minimal of 1' upward! 🤣😅😆😈
I wouldn't power any electronics, disassemble everything and clean with isopropyl and distilled water. Just a hint, idk maybe worth a shot. Wiring wise I'd replace it.
Im guessing there isn't a part 2 or at least not one you want to share, you should have pulled the plugs picked the motor, and given it a really good fresh water wash-down 1st. Even if that motor starts your going to have electrical nightmares soon. And maybe do something about that music. Good luck
I just lost my mind recently and decided to buy a boat.😂 I can tell you what I learned. If your trying to buy a boat for under $10,000 it's going to need work. People are asking outrageous prices for boats that need thousands of dollars worth of parts and work. You drive hours sometimes to see a boat that looked great in pictures. You get there and the boat looks nothing like the pictures. If your lucky enough to find a decent boat that needs work you usually end up with a trailer that needs a ton of work or the trailer is decent and the boat is rough. You got a nice boat but as usual there's work to be done.
just your grounded personality and niche content is a must subscribe , saddening to see the hurricane damage. here in the uk 2" of snow brings the country to a stanstill ?
im gonna be honest when you said "that tells me enough to say the motors gonna run" I laughed. Just because the fuel pump activates and the starter is engaging DOES NOT mean the outboard will run, ESPECIALLY yamahas.
Before you did anything you should’ve completely washed everything with fresh water like crazy. You should’ve pulled the plugs and dumped oil in them and let it sit I say that because I had a boat sink in salt and that’s what I did. If fired up beautiful didn’t even have to change starter or the power packs
Question, I’m looking at a boat to purchase go a good price I think, it’s a 1998 26 feet wellcraft cuddy , it has twin 150 mercury motors , the only issue is , it a hurricane damage boat that has been flipped in the water, price at 4 grand, what’s your take on it, I’m not to much worried about the motors , the m more interested in the hull , any thing o need to look for , your advice will be appreciated thanks
Just imagine the force of nature it would take to do all of this I mean some of these vessels way up into 100,000 pounds and the force of nature just shoved it wherever it wants it to go don’t need no Trailer just need the high tide strong winds and it’s going and there’s nothing you could do about it extremely sad seeing all these people losing everything they’ll get it all back😢
First off you should have disconnected the fuel lines, because tanks probably full of water.. pumped water into the system. if it wasn't already full and I really hoped you took them spark plugs out after you drain the oil.. seems like you know what you're doing though I hope you got it running going to take a look on your Channel
IF this boat wasnt fully rewired and the motor wasnt completely rewired thats bad news!! ... I hope you disclose that this boat was sunk and not all wiring replaced.. even if it does run for a few weeks its only a matter of time before things in the electrical start to fail! I would be pissed if I bought this boat and wasnt informed that it was sunk!
