Hi Clive. Wow what a result. Obviously she didn't know what she had, just wanted to create space. Well done buddy right place at the right time. Got some lovely rolling stock with it as well. Thanks mate. Thumbs up thumped 👍 .... Pete....
Well they`d been told it was worth more, but I did explain why layouts dont sell, as we found out taking it apart, the time and damage you have to do to remove it normally means it`s not worth a dealers time. but I said I could use it for parts and they just wanted the space, so eveyones a winer.
wow, nice acquisition! i kind of like the track plan he had. It's nice to get all of that PRR rolling stock. So much you can use from that haul. well done Clive :)
Nice layout, a bargain for all that, for sure. Nice rolling stock. Pity you could not have a little play on it, but hey, plenty bits to be gleaned from it. All the best. Brian
Thanks Brian, it would have been nice to have a long run for my stock, but it needs quite a bit on the electricals to get it running. but it will prove useful
I was just thinking that you probably gave 100 quid for it. And then you said you struck a deal 'cause you were the man with the plan: the van and the $$. I think you got a pretty good deal, Clive. Cheers from eastern TN
Yesterday at my local Sue Ryder charity shop they just put out a large N gauge layout for £75. This included a DCC controller, track with lots of points plus a Dapol Class 125 loco along with a coach They said more was coming in rolling stock wise later. Unfortunately I don't do N gauge my sight is not that great so not for me. Will be a great start for someone it makes you think what is out there?
Hi Clive, A lot of layout for not a lot of money as long as you can use (or sell) a good bit of it but a shame you could not get it to run for a last time and put it on YT for posterity please do another on how you will use it when its a lot clearer but well done for a bargain well spotted. Cheers Robert.
Hi Robert. I looked at it and thought what it was worth to me, knowing that layouts are dead money as they are unique to the space and needs of the modeller, it would be nice to have enough space to try it one more time, though the wiring is butchered, so not a quick fix. but never say never.
not sure what period it is steam early diesel the wagons are the ones with walkways on the roofs. I guess the coach stock would be similar, i`ll have to dig them out and research
if i may answer that. I had some of these kits and bought them in the 1970s. The blue boxes are made by Athearn and the other most by Roundhouse, probably from 1960 to the 1970s. The passenger cars from the same period by Rivarossi. The brewery probably made by Heljan and is still being produces. Strangely i couldn't see any engines ? The seller or the estate maybe sold off them first . Interesting video !
Obviously you felt it was a good deal to pull the trigger on it, but that is quite a lot... a bit of a sad story behind it, but definitely you got a lot more than had to tried to buy it all piecemeal. I wish there was a solution to save the backscenes until you decide to use them or not... they are quite nice, especially for the age.
Used layout are really hard to sell for the time and trackwork thats, in them, but the scenics, trackwork can be repurposed, the backscenes would have been useful for my US side maybe,we`ll have to see how they survive.
