Carl Ihland dude that won’t work. You could have 10,000 HP LS and the engine still only gonna turn like 8-9 RPM. What you need is enough power and the right gearing. Everything changes with a propeller. You don’t have the transmission like in a car.
Hey Cleetus I’m so happy you bought the boat, that was my old departments boat and I’m so surprised you bought it!! Hell yeah brother!! Definitely be a good thing for you it was a handmade by all fireman 1 of a kind boat and you will enjoy it
Somebody sent this video to me because they knew I used to run one of these things for a fire department. I have two huge word of caution for you when you get on open water: TRIM TAB. So here's the deal: you do fine once you're up on your cushion of air going forward, but the more you give her the spurs the more the front end starts pointing down unless you're setting the trim tab. Let the front end dip at 40+ MPH (which that will EASILY do) and the front end catches in the water. It will feel like you ran into something and you will likely get hurt being thrown forward. So whenever you feel the nose dip, get off of the noisy lever, raise your trim and try again. You'll get the hang of it.
I knew a crew in the Adirondacks who ran into that problem once. They bolted on a second grill quite a bit higher made from the front edge of a shopping cart. Turned out to be a great place to mount an extra alley light, too.
Good to know! Trying to do my part entertaining folks. Just started my channel where I take trucks up into the mountains and break em in. Hoping to make you laugh.
Guy with the scat couldn't believe he was able to sell that thing in 2020. You can almost hear the excitement in his wife's voice at the dinner table that night. "FINALLY HONEY... IT'S GONE! I can't believe you finally found someone to buy that thing!"
It's easy to name this thing It is loud Blows alot hot air Demands constant attention And it's kinda unpleasant to be near I name this craft U.S.S. Karen
@Lassi Kinnunen LCACs have turbine engines. Although a drag car consumes alot of gas in 2 minutes, I dont think it consumes the fuel like powering 2 turbine engines do. When I got deployed we had 2 LCACs on board, and they were massive. Had to of been at least 200 feet long and over 100 feet wide. They had a crew of at least 15 people on each one. It takes teamwork to run it.
@@trentongulley6641 only because at that time the government was to cheap to get proper electronics,if Carnival can have cruise ships that only take one man to pilot, these can't possibly be more complicated,I realize that cruise ships have giant diesels and whole crews to run them but 1 or 2 people.
@@kittty2005 Okay first of all you're only talking about 1 to 2 people standing watch on cruise ships doing rounds making sure everything looks fine on the diesel engines/equipment, and doing minor wipers while getting readings on equipment for their logs. If they notice anything unusual they will call away a engineering casualty and take care of it the best they can until the engineering casualty team comes down to take over so he can continue roving on his watch. Cruise ships have way more mechanics on board that dont stand watch, and work on the engines when needed(CRT). When I stood watch on my Navy ships, we werent allowed to work on the engines with others if a engineering casualty happened because we have to focus on other stuff and let the crew do the repairs. Let me tell you something since you cant understand why they have a crew that size on a LCAC. They have 2 turbine engines that are seperated from each other, so they have to have 2 of pretty much everything. 2 mechanics, 2 electricians, 2 hydraulic guys, 2 fire fighters, 2 drivers(not 1 like a cruise ship has) to operate forward and reverse while the other operates list and trim bringing the tarp up with air like cleetus 2nd engine does, 2 navigation plotters, 2 officers in charge of each bridge, the Commanding officer of that LCAC, and then dont forget all the other guys it takes to help make the operation work which are the sewing people who repair holes on tarp, the regular crew attached who help bring on vehicles or equipment as well start up/shut down procedures including unanchoring or anchoring, washing down LCAC with fresh water after every operation, standing watch when not operating and there is probably other stuff im missing. An LCAC is not some simple fire & rescue 1 man hovercraft or a simple cruise ship you steer in open waters not worrying about hitting anything. Get the point?
@@trentongulley6641 Yes,my Dad was a fireman on a submarine tender, responsible for keeping the fire correct,WWII he worked on the great lakes for 35 years a fireman, stokerman, oiler, then every boat went diesel ,he retired @ 75,000 a year,as a wiper,I naturally have an interest in ships and I did not have the time to expound and I'm just to exhausted to debate you,but thank you for your rebuttal.
That would actually be awesome. I've been a responder through three of them. Especially during Harvey, this would have been a god send.... we literally had boats stayed at different isolated areas, you'd take one to get to a truck, it would take you to another to get in a neighborhood.
I was a responder with Hurricane Harvey, came in a convoy of 5 26ft freightliner box trucks from Virginia full of canned food, water, life vests, we all drove thru some of the flood water to setup at the top of a bridge n we just went to town for a full week helping everyone out
I expect Cleetus n then to be out there as well with this hover craft on the next big storm.. their views on those videos be through the roof seeing all that
Sometimes I lay in bed and say "Cleetus is 'extra', but not THAT 'extra'. " And then a new video drops... Cleetus the kind of guy that buys a weber smoker mountain and 2 days later owns a bbq pit restaurant
@@TheFearGrizzly maybe an experienced pilot can counter the bank by pointing the nose outwards but sounds kind of dangerous, these things are meant for water anyway.
Cleetus: 'I didn't want to buy anymore unnecessary vehicles " Alsoo cleetus like 2 vids ago: "if yall know of any bigger hovercrafts under like 10k hmu "
@@11zlow I mean honestly, I feel like that could be on the side of the craft now, "I feel partially responsible (for this)." -Zachary The quote could be above a huge "Hell Yeah Brother!"
basically anyone selling a random motor powered thing in the sates right now "who the hell is going to buy this" Cleetus-"Sweet honey bbq Grab the chequebook"
This channel has helped me decide that I never want a hovercraft. Looks like something you want to borrow for an hour and then be happy you didn't buy one.
Real talk. The new toy high looks like it’s wear off quick here...there’s a reason you don’t see them often and it isn’t the price. Rad in theory, boring in reality.
@@mclarkson78 normally an ls guy but youre right lol. with an ls you would get a runtime of like 5 minutes, also its the speed the engine is turning that matters, not necessarily how much power is has.
Haterr plays that would be badass. Use the fan to spool the turbo, or some other crazy stuff. Can’t have too much power on those units. I’m thinking 2 600hp K swaps would make that thing an unstoppable monster
@Fred Flynstone You realize that toys = content, and content drives traffic, which equals revenue, right? If it wasnt much more than the Scat like he said, he likely paid for this hovercraft with this video alone. Unlike us, his crazy toy buying actually MAKES him more money.
Scat n Rescue for track drying after a shower, then get Cleetus to rent out to NASCAR events as rain-delay crew, hovercraft on high banks gotta be fun.
Gotta remember, unlike the Scat.. you should make sure it’s lifted and the RPM’s are up when it’s coming out of the water. Could possibly rip the skirt off..
@@anthonyhart6723 I emailed texas speed telling them to please send a Texas Speed LS for the hovercraft I want to see a Texas Speed powered hovercraft. He should also upgrade the lift motor I don't know what size it has but the bigger it is the faster you can go because of less friction
XmaXma6 Cooper dailies that car to save gas. It’s literally part of his fleet. It’s fixed, cleaned up and in his driveway. I love the STi idea but it’s Cleetus so an LS from Texas speed is only right.
Now, remember when you showed finnigan your single seat hvercraft, and i said "now he's going to get a 6 seat blown hemi hovercraft" I didint think it would happen this soon
You always want to purge the engine compartment of fuel vapor before starting or it could blow up and kill you, but yeah, I'm not sure if thats what he meant or if he just wanted to drool over the motor.
@@Cronus_1 You're so right, and when I typed that earlier I forgot that, but I was trying to give him a couple bonus safety points for knowing that he needs to vent or he could go kaboom. haha 👊😎
Joogsquad “cletus cannot take our Florida man fame, what can we do?” “Uhhh giant trampolines?” “Perfect” Cletus “oh no, what will I ever do?” Buys second hovercraft after having alligators removed from his hovercraft pond Joogsquad “dammit”
I saw the title and said "oh my God, really?", and freaked my wife out, (she expected to hear someone died or is sick). These days you can't surprise us like this Cleetus.
