saved all my money from my first job and bought myself audio equipment. 8 tracks were barely out and you couldn't record one anyway. Solution? Reel to reel. Recording a song from the radio was definitely a challenge.

The candles in the cookie tin are good to keep in your car during the winter. If you break down and are stuck on the side of the road you light a candle or two and it keeps the car warmish so you don't have to run the car and use up your gas. I usually have a coffee can but they aren't metal anymore so the cookie tin is a great idea!

I live in the flight path. You get use to the noise after a while unless they come in....right over my Apt. they come in so low you hope they aren't coming in to visit. On occasion they will wake me up at night but they have have to be really low, or a cloudy foggy night.

I think it is old alright, but not a doorbell. It looks to me like an old external telephone ringer, people would put them outside so they would know they had a call. Businesses used to use them a lot as well. They were also used in telephone central offices on the alarm panel, IIRC it was for a major alarm, critical was a gong.
